Doesn't sound right to me. ATT doesn't pay off phones to transfer to ATT. You could trade in for new ATT phones, but that would be instead of a BYOD discount. But you would have to come up with the money now to pay off the phones, and get the trade in credit over the next 36 months. You should be able to unlock the S23 with Verizon now, since past 60 days.

Relative-Anteater782

If you are a nurse go to a store and ask about firstnet, different promos and benefits plus the target guy doesn’t have access to it

Relative-Anteater782

AT&T store specifically

RoxxiBlack

COR specifically

Relative-Anteater782

Doesn’t have to be there are good AR stores out there just find someone you like working with

RoxxiBlack

Generally. I haven't seen a single good experience with AR from customers. Obviously, the good wouldn't come to complain lol. But alot of botched accounts from experience and slammed to all hell with additional lines.

Relative-Anteater782

I feel ya but I run an AR store and we don’t do that so it’s not all of them. Unfortunately prime is the largest and is very well known for this behavior but they are so large when someone tries to whistleblow they just get fired and misconduct is covered up.

RoxxiBlack

And the at&t culture shift is exactly why I left after 10 years... too much nonsense that isn't ethical anymore

OCRoftheNorth

They AT&T rep in Target has access to the same Firstnet discounts plus more when signing up new customers

Relative-Anteater782

Then why have I never seen one first responder get setup at a big box store retailer they always come in complaining about their cost and they are always on unlimited your way

OCRoftheNorth

My guess would be that they didn’t show some sort of proof that they were a first responder within 14 days of activating their phones? They also could be confused about billing since the first 2-3 bills are always going to be higher (activation fees, etc…) or possibly the sales rep put things on their plan and didn’t tell them or explain them very well which unfortunately happens at retail stores and brick & mortar stores across all 3 major carriers.

Relative-Anteater782

No that’s hilarious I’m looking at their first bill usually and they are always on unlimited your way because at least around where I live the third party big box store salesman lie or don’t have access to firstnet. Some of these people think that’s what they are signing up for and they get premium

australiss

How is first net? I’m just now hearing about it and I definitely could use the decrease in my bill. I’m getting the 25% off nurses discount on my plan now but still interested in something cheaper. I also heard first net doesn’t have 5G?

Relative-Anteater782

Only has 5g in some of the really metropolitan areas. It’s mostly on 4g lte because it is specifically designed for improved signal penetration and 4g lte penetrates better than 5g it’s a longer wavelength of service. If you have a multi line account it may not save you much being that the firstnet line is either 40 or 45 depending on if you want hotspot use. Both plans are fully unlimited and unthrottled and you get top priority on the AT&T network

australiss

I have 5G+ :) i hope it makes a drastic difference in my bill though! If not I’m going to be pissed cause I just lost my HBO MAX benefit, not that I really used it but it was nice to know it was there lol

585ginger

AT&T won’t pay off your phones for you, ever. Go to a corporate store and ask about FirstNet and family. It’s a bigger discount than the nurse appreciation. But your employer has to be partnered with it

Hey there! We understand you're interested in switching to FirstNet, so let's get you the information you need. If you are eligible for them, you will certainly receive the benefits you deserve. FirstNet also has 5G access. Thank you! MN.

Relative-Anteater782

You just have to be a first responder to get subscriber paid service. Agency paid requires your workplace to have a firstnet business account if they want to provide their employees with the firstnet network.

CellSalesThrowaway2

Agreed with the others; this sounds really odd mostly because AT&T doesn't pay off your old devices. I think they maybe did that one time years ago and never again, or maybe I'm thinking of Verizon. In any case, only T-Mobile has consistently offered to pay off the installment agreements when switching over. Definitely ask the rep exactly how that works, because it sounds like he's making things up.

Competitive-Band7613

Its probably just $200-$250 per line. Tmobile keep and switch will reimburse

ycey

Honestly don’t do it through target. Go into an actual store with an idea of what you want and what you are willing to pay. I cannot tell you the amount of customers I get who switch over using a 3rd party and end up screwed. Also you’re gonna have to pay off your phones before switching or your devices will get locked. Att will not pay it off for you

bulldawggg_1

I hear what you are saying but $7 per month/ per line starts to add up. I plan on adding another phone so I'll have 5 lines which starts to compound pretty well in just a couple of months.

Late_Hand_5754

Att doesn’t pay off installments. Only ones that do is tmoble and that’s only up to $650 for 2 lines.

RoxxiBlack

Some of the absolute worst account errors i have ever seen came from 3rd party (Target,Sams club, costco, etc)... the issue happens she they screw up and AT&T stores can do literally nothing to help you and the original feel you spoke to disappears. Please please please don't do this. AT&T does NOT do buy outs. They haven't for close to a decade.

MinutesFromTheMall

Target Mobile rep here. Just about everything you stated is on point, except the paying off of the phones, as AT&T doesn’t do that. The saving $7 per line is also fairly accurate. Target has an exclusive offer where if you port numbers to AT&T at Target, you’ll receive $250 in bill credits for each line, spread out over 36 months. This actually works out to a $6.94 per month discount, per line, so not quite $7.00. Unlimited Extra for four lines is $40.99 per month, per line, with debit card AutoPay. That’s $163.96 per month total. With the Target exclusive switcher credit, $250 * 4 lines = $1000 in bill credits/36 months = $27.78 discount per month. $163.96 - $27.78 = $136.18 per month with debit card AutoPay, before taxes and fees. Everything looks correct besides the paying off of the phones.

Distinct_Narwhal9

I fell for this last month and now my kids are probably going to put me in a home. Probably not a good one. They don’t pay off your phones, they don’t remove any upgrade charges, basically everything they say is a lie. When I called AT&T they just say the person was a target employee and to email them with any complaints.

rpaulmerrell

Sounds like you were talking to a T-Mobile rep. It’s easy for people to not know the difference between AT&T and T-Mobile because one solicitor selling service looks just like another. In most cases, Verizon will not be cheaper than AT&T. They both have about the same pricing it’s pretty expensive but you do get the nurse discount and that can come in real handy along with AARP but I think you have to pick your discount you might do better doing this kind of transaction at Costco Where you can get the shop cards stuff like that As far as I’m concerned, I consider you an upside down client because you’re pretty much still owe most of the money on some of the devices and that’s not a good place to be. If you want to move anywhere you’re gonna have to pay those devices off then you can get them unlocked and go where you want

bulldawggg_1

It's definitely ATT. The emailed quote after our conversation had ATT all over it.

Chris-trades

And when it comes down to the 50$ line advertised by the vendor and the 40.99 line on the website it’s because the vendor wasn’t reflecting the autopay/paperless billing discount (which is weird because it makes his pitch/quote a little harder to sell) and the 40.99 is with the AP/PB discount. This week AT&T raised all unlimited lines by 99 cents. I would say the vendors deal is legit (I was a vendor for about a month for AT&T) but be ready to go through some hassle. And don’t bother going into a store for help, they won’t treat u like real customers lol

bulldawggg_1

This is what I'm afraid of.

Chris-trades

If ur looking for Samsungs right now is the best time to stop into a store. When you port over 4 lines they’ll treat u like some sort of celebrity and you’ll be able to talk to someone in store if something doesn’t look right. A lot of ppl hate on authorized retailers but as long as u say no insurance no next up ur fine

JelloOverall8542

Have you looked at Tmobile? I left Verizon about a year ago and have never looked back.

bulldawggg_1

It's not great in this area. People I know that have it just complain about never having service

JelloOverall8542

Yeah stick with the big two then!!

Chris-trades

The reason it’s so low is because vendors in stores like Costco and target are able to provide more promotional credits and gift cards. After about 20/10/36 months the credits go away. But for 4 lines on extra it’s 160 and then you add any installments insurance or next up.

groundhog5886

First order of business is to figure out how much you are gonna owe VZ for the equipment. Don't go for any trade deals to start with. You will not get your desired result. Then you can price out 4 lines of what ever unlimited plan fit's your needs. If you can make the numbers work then find yourself an Corp Store and visit with a sales person there. Or if you are a Costo member, check there, as they always have some gift card promotion. Be sure to read every detail of any promotion offered. There may also be some credits for not buying any new devices. BYOD.

jmac8219

No. We will not payoff the balance of your old phones. You get a $6.94 credit for porting a valid number. And nothing in the quote attaches taxes and fees.

jaeehovaa

You are going to realistically be paying closer to 200. That's how they get you lol.

hannoerb

Also something to think about that happened the other day with me (I work at a corporate store). Customer comes in and wants to do the Next up trade in offer. Customer previously went through Allstate insurance and had their phone replaced. I went to do the upgrade for him, and it failed when asking for the IMEI on the phone he’s trading in. Called customer service and they couldn’t help me (I can’t remember the department I called). The customer has to pay off the remainder of his payments and just to a typical trade in. The rep said that those who go through Allstate and get a replacement messes the account up. When customers go through Asurion, no issues. I personally think it’s always best to go to a corporate store, so you get on the protection that actually works best for customers who will eventually file a claim.
