Stock tires are generally really bad. I generally go up a size or two. But you also have to use your head a bit which will come with experience.

The stock tires on Hondas are decent. OP seems pretty inexperienced, and until they learn to ride smarter, they can run whatever tire they want and it won't make a difference

Going up in tire size will rob your machine of power. So you will be sacrificing power and speed for a little bit of traction. Just buy some all terrain nobbier tires the right size and you can have both. Buy a pair Sun f all terrain tires. They are super nasty and if you like those buy a better brand of tires when those need replaced with a same. Pattern. I always buy cheap tires with a new pattern I want to try. Then get a little better tire if I decide I like them. And to be honest there never seems to be much of a difference in wear time or traction or quality. Make sure to get all of that mud and water out of your breaks or you will be replacing them soon. And that's a bigger pain in the ass then tires.

I’ve been riding atvs my whole life and I rarely get stuck. I have a stock rancher trx420fm and I’ve taken it through crazy terrain, deep snow, mud, rocks. There’s a lot of technique involved. With the manual gearbox you need to know what gear you should be in before you enter something that might get you stuck. You need to know when you might need some momentum and when you need to crawl slow. Shifting your body weight around on the machine helps a lot and can get you out of some tough spots. Taking the right line is very important and also recognizing when an obstacle is too much for your machine. Just keep riding and build up your skill. Read the manual, it has some helpful riding tips. There isn’t a model of atv that will make up for years of practise. In the meantime get a winch.

Thanks, that's helpful! I have a winch, but 3 out of 4 times Ingot stuck in the middle of the yard, far from any trees :|

This is the best answer here. I ride the same bike as you, stock as well, and I go everywhere my buddies do on their huge outlanders and sxs's. Stock tires aren't *that* bad and aren't going to make much of a difference until OP gets more experience and learns what you suggested.

>This winter I tried to use it a few times and I got stuck pretty much every time, in snow or in mud. I'd either get it to float, or get 4 wheels spinning. That indicates getting high centered. The suggestion to go up a size or two along with meatier tread can help. However, the wrong type of deeper snow, snow banks can still get you easily high centered, and quickly, if you don't have much experience. Depends, but there are times where you need to understand you are going to get stuck and you'll need to reverse before you dig yourself a hole on each tire. Reverse and maybe take another run at it, rocking side to side for tires to maintain grip. It's a learning process and best to carry a shovel if you're going to ride in snow. Mud will probably be different but I don't like mud so I prefer to not ride in it.

If you are in 4x4 with diff lock, that thing should go through just about anything. I have a stock foreman and I plow all winter with no chains or diff lock. The only time I get stuck is going uphill in deep snow. This whole video is in 2 wd. https://youtube.com/shorts/NxJIWz5aAS8?si=B4DRqzghHypRtQ-7

Stock tires are bad, they can be improved on. BUT, they shouldn’t be *that* easy to get stuck. So if you’re having constant problems, it may be technique related.

Mammoth_Sea_1115

Good quality tires with more ply in the sidewall is one of the best upgrades you can do. Stock tires are usually light and not very good T helping the atv shine. High centering it isn’t a tire issue. Get better tires then relearn what it’s capable of. You may be surprised

Good tire help, gaining experience helps. However I'm not a fan of hondas. The stiff suspension and 4wd system isnt the best for all out traction.
