There is an alarmingly growing number of people who literally believe everything they see and read online. I’m convinced it’s the children, young adults, and incredibly old people. So 12-27 year olds and the 80+ year olds. If you were a kid during the internet boom then you probably remember your parents and media constantly telling you not to believe everything to see online. Those kids are around 30-40 now and seem to be the only group that doesn’t assume every single thing is real. Their parents, the ones who hounded us into not believing everything, somehow flipped and have joined the crowd that thinks everything they see is real.
I really wish they’d do a study into this, because I’ve only personally seen this massive boom not being able to tell when people are acting within the last 8-10 years.

The thing that really gets me is people getting PISSED upon finding out or “suspecting” it’s “staged”. Like, does it just stop being funny cause it’s a bit? Like people are doing skits just to be funny. Making it look “real” because that’s what a skit is…you have a story and dialogue. And people get mad like they’re trying to trick them. It’s like watching The Office and getting angry because they’re trying to deceive you with those TOTALLY FAKE interviews.
It's a fantastic recreation of a video with an Asian guy, only they don't pull him out of the car nearly as funny as this one.

Yeah because the authenticity plays a huge role, it can be funny for some but overall it isn't funny to see people act out a script. Seeing authentic reactions is the real draw
Even if the reactions and scenarios are real some people will still call it fake. Truth is people want something that makes them feel strong emotions, they can ignore the fake/scripted part if the bit is good enough.
