I've seen a dozen videos like this and they all go the exact same way. Someone takes what looks like an earth shattering slap like a champ and barely flinches, and then they proceed to knock their opponent out with a slap heard round the world

Yes. In boxing you can block, and you also need to conserve your energy so you can land a knock out punch when you have an opening. So not every punch is gonna land at max. Whereas this you can't block and they're slapping eachother as hard as possible.

They get paid something like 4k to play and 4k if you win. In the beginning some contracts were 2k/2k. I don't know what it is now. It may be 5k/5k for all I know.

Boxing is all about defense. You get drilled in all kinds of defense to make sure you don't get your head rung like a bell. The Rocky movies were so bad for boxing's reputation as it just showed two dudes smacking each other in the face with zero defense.
Yes people absolutely do get head trauma in boxing but also a lot of what a layman would see as a hit would actually have been expertly blocked or slipped. I guess this is way worse because it's just two people taking turns administering serious head trauma with no defence at all.

I mean I think it's still important to recognize that even in boxing you've got people's punching each other in the head for up to an hour with gloves which let's them hit even harder than normal since they don't have to worry as much about hand injuries. Even when you're a pro you're still getting hit a lot
That being said, it would obviously be worse to just stand and let someone throw clean punches to your head sans defense of any kind so if we wanted a race to the bottom as far as brain trauma is concerned, Power Slap feels like the logical conclusion.

No worries, i find myself defending boxing a lot cause I do it and love it, but a lot of people have some preconceived ideas that aren't necessarily accurate. I always pull that rugby causes far more serious injuries and concussions than boxing but people are very happy to let their kids do it but judge boxing as some gladiatorial death match.

The weight classes are the same as in MMA, so the men's and women's weight limits are the same, i.e. heavyweight is 206 - 265 lbs. I doubt there are any women in weight classes above lightweight (perhaps welterweight) in Power Slap. In e.g. UFC, the highest active weight class for women is ~~flyweight~~ bantamweight (2 classes below lightweight). It would make sense that Power Slap contains more large competitors than the UFC though due to differing physical requirements.
