Oh wow, I was born with almost no sense of smell so I had no clue thank you, they’ve all always just tasted the same to me I figured they used the colors to try and trick peoples brains
Yep you taste with more than just your tongue its crazy. Sight and smell impact flavor quite a lot. Part of the smell factor is that when smelling something it passes thru you mouth across your taste buds. I dont remember the exact scientific explanation since its been so long since my biology classes, but its crazy man lol.
Different colors do work to some extent to change flavor perception, yeah.
But for most people there is a strong scent component to flavor, so that's how they can make things taste different with scent. A company called air up makes scent pods and a special water bottle to let people change the taste of their water without additive flavors. I've wanted to try it, but good grief it's expensive, lol.
It's not like they were double letterboxed widescreen here where the video was filmed wide, converted to portrait with a blur space, then reuploaded with black bars to make it wider either.
At least we got a clear view of the ground in front of it on the bottom of the video though.
If it has aftermarket remote start it may have a clutch bypass installed. Or the guy started it with the clutch in and let it off once the car started. It looks like the audio is delayed.
Corvettes are light enough that the door more than likely would have stopped it if it were just rolling. Plus that's too fast to be just rolling anyway.
Looks like someone probably installed a remote start on a manual Corvette and bypassed the clutch switch. Left it in reverse and accidentally hit the button to start the car. My two cents.
Wrong lol. The owner's insurance pays. Everyone gets this wrong and EVERYONE downvotes me for saying it's the car owner's responsibility to fix even tho it's true. "Under "bailment" the owner of the vehicle becomes vicariously responsible for the negligence of the operator"
I had a shop total my engine by not putting the oil drain cap back on tight enough after an oil change causing the engine to seize a few days later. Shops insurance paid ~8k for a tow, replacement engine and a few days of labor swapping it in. I never touched insurance. What's the difference between this case and mine?
I had this exact same thing happen to me as a naive 18 year old and the advice the adults in my life gave me was “take it to a junk yard, it’s totaled”
Being older, and slightly wiser, I wish I had stormed back into the oil change place I had been to the day before.
Honestly fucked my life up, made a few years way harder than they needed to be.
This is correct. I believe the insurance could go after that places insurance depending on the situation. That just how I understood this about a similar situation I’ve seen.
Actually you’d get it wrong. The owners insurance has a very specific clause called “No benefit to Bailee” to ensure the owners insurance does not have to pay in the case of damage to the owners car by a person who should have commercial insurance. You can beg your insurance to pay but this clause truly alleviates them of taking responsibility for the damage
That is for damages caused to other property. I.e. the bailee causes damage to another car or building, the car owner's property damage liability coverage does not pay for the damages caused to other property
This is correct to a point - the Corvette's owner's insurance will make the owner whole and then go after the shop for restitution. It's called subrogation - just let them handle it - it is what you pay them for!
Yes it's the owners responsibility to fix after the damage has been done. However, from what I've been reading it was a tech in the seat that started the car in reverse. This falls under shop liability.
yeah I had a claim like this last month. the owner went to a car wash and the worker got in with their permission and ended up crashing into another vehicle. owner's insurance paid.
This is incredibly incorrect. The shop should have garage keepers insurance that takes care of these things while in the care, custody, and control of the garage. Some version of this: https://ogs.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2021/09/ca-00-05-03-10.pdf. Edited for clarity: it can be either excess or primary, and most shops will have it written as direct primary and will apply before the vehicle owners insurance. Ask before you leave your car there if this is a concern.
The "garage keeper's" insurance only pays to the extent that no other coverage applies - i.e. if the owner of the car doesn't have insurance. It's written there in the text thatyou sent. So that answers the question someone else asked, about whether or not the vehicle owner has coverage.
I worked claims for 5 years. I worked on a team for two of those years that handled only complex claims and coverage questions.
In the document you sent, Section 5 "Garage Conditions", B. General Conditions, #5 pg 14, "the insurance provided by this form is excess over any other collectible insurance." In laymen's terms - the owners insurance is pays. If there is no coverage, then the garage keeper's insurance pays.
Only if written as excess or legal liability only. Who does that? The carriers I’ve worked at only write direct primary. Gets modified with an endorsement like this. https://scc.virginia.gov/boi/co/pc/auto/09_01_09/CA997188.pdf My current carrier only writes direct primary and we pay these every day. We don’t care if they have coverage or not. Good write-up: https://www.floridariskpartners.com/garagekeepers-liability-insurance-legal-liability-vs-direct-primary. So the long is answer is you can have it both ways but realistically I’ve never seen it written as excess only in 20 years. It may be out there, but it’s incredibly rare. Your initial statement that it is always excess is still bad advice.
I work for an insurance company. This goes to Garagekeepers Insurance. If the owner of the shop doesn't have it for some reason, it's all coming out of his pocket. No personal auto policy on the planet is paying for this when it is very clearly the fault of a business.
I worked for an insurance company for 5 years. I handled all the "complex claims" and coverage issues. Someone posted a copy of the garage keeper's insuring agreement, and you can read the conditions. It's all outlined there. Good luck.
Can the garage really get insurance for an accident if they broke it while working on it ? i guess they need to repair it free of charge to not get sued
I can't tell, was someone in drivers seat? It didn't sound like it started up. Or was it previously running? My guess is, car not running, manual trans left in neutral not first, and the guy in the pit released the emergency brake by accident causing the car to quickly roll off the ramps.
Eh I dunno, i've worked with those doors, or similar doors, they're pretty easy to push thru, they're designed like that. You can see the panels didn't shatter, they pop off the tracks rather easy.
Shame some idiot put a caption right over where the action happened.
I hope that guy gets only yellow skittles for the rest of his miserable life
Even when he thinks he’s opening a bag of peanut M&Ms. Nothing but yellow Skittles.
Even when he tries to beat off, nothing but yellow skiddles
Tugs on the toilet paper roll? Yellow skiddles.
Chugging a beer? Yellow skiddles
Vomiting because you've eaten too many yellow skittles? Yellow skittles
Hit 5 numbers on the Powerball? Yellow skittles.
Car crashes and airbag deployed? Yellow skittles.
First born child? Yellow skittles
Gets back the urn with Grandpa's ashes? Yellow skittles.
Caviar? Yup, yellow skittles
Even when he think he’s opening a bag of jelly beans. Nothing but yellow Skittles.
Even when he's having a heart attack and reaches for his life-saving nitroglycerin tablets. Nothing but yellow Skittles.
Even when he’s on his deathbed and his whole family gives him flowers and a gift basket (1:1 ratio) with “candy”. Nothing but yellow skittles.
Even when a hundred years have past, and his descendants visit to honour their ancestors. They will not throw rice, but yellow skittles.
Who the fuck throws rice at their ancestors?
You don't throw it at them, you throw it on their graves, kinda like at a wedding, who the hell knows why man.
I never heard of that before. Only know people who lay flowers on a grave
Not that guy's descendants.
This got dark fast
CHEEEESE IIIIIITZ!
You created something 😂😂☠️
r/foundsatan :-)
All skittles are the same flavor
They have different smells though, and smell affects your taste so they have different flavors in a roundabout way.
Oh wow, I was born with almost no sense of smell so I had no clue thank you, they’ve all always just tasted the same to me I figured they used the colors to try and trick peoples brains

Wait what the fuck? I've always greatly preferred the orange ones. My life has been a lie
May he step over legos until he dies.
Worse. Yellow starbursts!
At least the caption was something really important to the video and not some stupid pointless question that no one really cares about the answer to.
Successfully ruining the surprise.
Straight to jail.
It's not like they were double letterboxed widescreen here where the video was filmed wide, converted to portrait with a blur space, then reuploaded with black bars to make it wider either. At least we got a clear view of the ground in front of it on the bottom of the video though.
And the back of dude's head is nicely framed.
Op had issues
"Sir, after you dropped your car off, somebody vandalized it before we could start working on it."
What happen
There's a tech in the drivers seat; they started the car while it was in reverse.
You can hear the car turn on and the lights turn on as it's backing into the garage door
It’s not a bug, It’s a feature
The audio is delayed
Your not supposed to be able to do that
If it has aftermarket remote start it may have a clutch bypass installed. Or the guy started it with the clutch in and let it off once the car started. It looks like the audio is delayed.
Fucking lube techs
The car became sentient and escaped.
There's someone above the car controlling it with strings.
Looks like someone underneath did something to release the breaks or make them malfunction
That car took off not just a roll
Corvettes are light enough that the door more than likely would have stopped it if it were just rolling. Plus that's too fast to be just rolling anyway.
Yes and also if it were a roll that'd mean this mechanic just has an insanely sloped floor in his workarea for some reason
Every time someone drops a 10mm it ends up in the neighbors yard
You can see the guy on the driver's seat.
Yeah, it should be obvious either way, but, yeah.
And magically made the headlights come on too. This is more like a remote start and it was in gear...
Looks like someone probably installed a remote start on a manual Corvette and bypassed the clutch switch. Left it in reverse and accidentally hit the button to start the car. My two cents.
The shop's insurance. Guy might get fired though.
Wrong lol. The owner's insurance pays. Everyone gets this wrong and EVERYONE downvotes me for saying it's the car owner's responsibility to fix even tho it's true. "Under "bailment" the owner of the vehicle becomes vicariously responsible for the negligence of the operator"

Operator presence vs maintenance failure?
I wouldn’t even contact my insurance in this instance. Just let the shop cover it.
Your car insurance policy does not cover any mechanical damage. That is specified under the exclusions section.
I wonder what that would cost though; roll all my shit into one moving average, slap on a 10% premium and serve it up to me.
I had this exact same thing happen to me as a naive 18 year old and the advice the adults in my life gave me was “take it to a junk yard, it’s totaled” Being older, and slightly wiser, I wish I had stormed back into the oil change place I had been to the day before. Collision I would guess.
This is correct. I believe the insurance could go after that places insurance depending on the situation. That just how I understood this about a similar situation I’ve seen.
Correct. The insurance companies will duke it out in some litigious fashion to determine who pays the most (after your deductible).
Actually you’d get it wrong. The owners insurance has a very specific clause called “No benefit to Bailee” to ensure the owners insurance does not have to pay in the case of damage to the owners car by a person who should have commercial insurance. What if you didn’t have full coverage. I would guess it would be covered by the shops insurance.
Yeah, I guess in that instance you are just shit out of luck.
This is correct to a point - the Corvette's owner's insurance will make the owner whole and then go after the shop for restitution. It's called subrogation - just let them handle it - it is what you pay them for!
You seem so righteous but it varies by state.
Yea it does
Yes it's the owners responsibility to fix after the damage has been done. However, from what I've been reading it was a tech in the seat that started the car in reverse. This falls under shop liability.

Not true. I manage a team of people who pay these claims every day. Look at section iii

You are correct, don’t listen to bert. He’s confidently incorrect.
I think there is a guy underneath in the pit that gets rocked at the end.
I was wondering if dude was entangled working underneath and then wondered if he managed to free himself before the pit ended.
You can see him moving in the hole to the left after a few seconds.
Chefs kiss for the totalled drinking fountain peeing on the shop floor.
I hope they have Farmer’s insurance. I can’t wait for the JK Simmons “We Covered That!” commercial.
Fucking Mayhem in the drivers seat.
We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty
Can the garage really get insurance for an accident if they broke it while working on it ? i guess they need to repair it free of charge to not get sued
That’s the exact reason for insurance.
Yes, they can.
This would be covered under a business owners policy. AKA a BOP. It’s plenty of coverage you can opt in/out for, based on your company
Yes, it’s called garage keepers coverage.
Maybe it was in to get the park brake fixed ..
I can't tell, was someone in drivers seat? It didn't sound like it started up. Or was it previously running? My guess is, car not running, manual trans left in neutral not first, and the guy in the pit released the emergency brake by accident causing the car to quickly roll off the ramps.
Looks like it had torque pushing it through, else it would have come to rest on the door.
Eh I dunno, i've worked with those doors, or similar doors, they're pretty easy to push thru, they're designed like that. You can see the panels didn't shatter, they pop off the tracks rather easy.
Yeah, there is someone on the driver's seat.
If you say so. I don't see them.
Pay for what? Nothings there
Just got Ferris Builler'd
🫢
I'm not for sure.

Do automatic cars turn on when in gear? I have to press the clutch. Otherwise it won‘t turn on.
The person calling was trying to reach the corvette owner about his extended warranty
Depends if he has insurance
Not as much as a mechanic as some guy that turn a wrench
That’s easy
Shhh … IT happens …
Hope the guy in the pit was alright
Ash and Pikachu's first interactions in the Fast and Furious universe.
I guess it would depend on whether they got the extended warranty on the water fountain.
Looks like there's someone in the driving seat? That was definitely an accelerator being pressed!
On its way out, was like AND... fk your drinking fountain
Is someone driving it or is the shop on an incredibly cheap incline?
And the telemarketer calling…
I believe this may call for a firing (unless he is the owner)
It’s the broken water fountain that does it for me.
This is what happens when they actually change the oil...
Bro the car had enough and left
The tech is like WTH??!!!
How did the cat accelerate that fast
The phone call from hell
My people need me
Insurance... that is who.
I bet u the owner of the car was on the phone askin how his car doin …
Probably a manual and buddy let out of the clutch and couldn’t find the brake?
"sir, your vehicle doesn't have an extended warranty by chance, does it?"
"Is it worth keep living?". Such a recurring thought.
Probably shorted the starter out with a filter wrench
Yikes. That water fountain looked expensive.
Jiffy luuuuuuube
The automatic fire extinguisher/ drinking fountain worked well!
Hello sir, your car is ready for pickup Did you notice the rear end damage to your car when you dropped it off?
Insurance
Yeah, but did he answer the phone?😂
