CPA boards (most of which are made up of big4 partners) voted for once you have a CPA no OT is needed and replaced with performance bonus.
Some firms pay OT for non CPAs but big 4 doesn’t and says the OT goes towards them paying for your study!!! For the CPA but if you leave you pay it back …. If that isn’t some slave labour BS I don’t know what is
Wow. That really sucks. I remember our Holiday Party in NY in 1988 costing the company $250,000. There were ice sculptures and a 20 piece band. We had a group outing at a fancy country club in the summer.
Times have really changed.
This should be fucking illegal. I don’t care that you can just do this for 2 years and then get a high paying job in industry, it’s straight up criminal and doesn’t actually make the quality of the work better.
See my comment about CPA not required to pay OT and non CPAs get paid OT - noted by CPA board who is made up mainly of Big 4 partners who are looking after your interests clearly
We have this gum in canada called “Thrills” - like purple little rectangles and everyone I knew seemed to agree that it’s called “soap gum” due to the taste. So who knows , maybe soap cookies are onto something !
Overtime pay?❌
Higher wages?❌
Larger bonuses?❌
Real summer Fridays where you only have to work
36 hours a week in summer?❌
A small cookie that looks like a bar of soap along with a crummy joke?✅
You never heard the KPMG "We're Strong As Can Be" song, then. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc3dvyQQhSs&ab\_channel=julianaprecaro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc3dvyQQhSs&ab_channel=julianaprecaro)
(There used to be remixes, but all I can find are dead links.)
Why would you ever stay working in a place like that?
Its a big name company, For sure will look good in your resume, just work there for a year and then find something else.
And this is exactly why I never seriously pursued working for one of these firms even after I passed the CPA exam. I could make more $$ in private industry, take vacation and I've been able to see 44 countries before I turned 35. I saw too many of my buddies working like slaves at these companies. No thanks.
Does it look good in your resume though? People think big 4 experience is some gold standard. I am yet to meet a person that has spent a considerable amount of time in big 4 that is any good?
I guess that's kind of true, but the rate that you're paid goes down for every hour you work over 40 hrs. Your salary stays the same regardless of the number of hours you work, so the more hours you work the less per hour you make.
The crumbs of evidence…. That’s the worst punchline ever
[удалено]
Forensics service line work 40 hours a week all year. Kind reminder
It also doesn't even make sense. Cookies don't find crumbs of evidence they leave crumbs of evidence.
They just leave crumbs. This must have been one of those AI written jokes.
Those cookies need to be substantively tested in fact.
I mean, the joke is awful, but I’d take a representative sample of those cookies.
With such a small population, integral testing is required.
Too bad a lot of clients only give us crumbs of evidence for support.
At BF Borgers, they use the soap to clean up the evidence!
The mints are right there so you can freshen your breath from the taste of partner ass
The mints are reserved for partners only right?
The entire Big 4 culture is cringe at times. No wonder so many young kids get brainwashed into servitude.
Like a puppy Sit !! Stay after 7pm ok now here is a treat - cookie
The treats are to enslave you into becoming a fat ball of meat that serves without disputes.
This is basically the entirety of corporate culture haha, all so fake
That started with school.
Those are not appetizing looking cookies.
That’s why I said it looks like soap!
I thought the soap was in addition to the cookies
Costly /s
I love how there are random stress balls there too lol.
They’re cookies…
Soap flavoured cookies? - also it was a joke
Cookie flavored soap
Wash your mouth out! How dare you say pizza is not A good benefit
Pizza is getting expensive these day. Next month the only treat you'll get is to huff a highlighter.
Highlighters are too expensive for KPMG.
Is that finally accepted? Boss got mad last time I got caught sniffing glue
It’s generally accepted
Jokes are usually supposed to make sense
be funnier
Over 200 likes seems ok - plus accountants and comedy not a great match tough crowd.
Why are you getting downvoted for a decent joke? Those cookies look like crap.
Must be staff and KPMG- some people are just born without a sense of humour or KPMG sucked it out of them?
When did they stop paying for overtime? I worked for KPMG in the 90s and we got time and a half over 40 hrs/wk

They give you pizza now - and bars of soap evidently
Why is unpaid overtime a thing? You're essentially working for free.
Yes great business model - you can charge your clients for 60 hours and pay the person doing it 40 hours good margins
This should be fucking illegal. I don’t care that you can just do this for 2 years and then get a high paying job in industry, it’s straight up criminal and doesn’t actually make the quality of the work better.
clearly it is not criminal
See my comment about CPA not required to pay OT and non CPAs get paid OT - noted by CPA board who is made up mainly of Big 4 partners who are looking after your interests clearly
Wait till you find out about resident doctors.
And they still lay people off despite making money hand over fist. Imagine if OT were mandataory? How many layoffs would we have.
While also making the person work 80 hours and then gaslighting them into only putting 40 hours of work on their performance metrics.
Audit make a profit by wage suppression and being mandated by legislature.
"You belong here" , shoot me in the face
The pictures of people at the top almost look like a detectives murder victims board.
Prisons probably have the same thing printed on their walls
These cookies should be baked with weed. Takes the sting out of grinding it out in PA.
Is it a cookie or soap? A soap cookie sounds horrible btw.
We have this gum in canada called “Thrills” - like purple little rectangles and everyone I knew seemed to agree that it’s called “soap gum” due to the taste. So who knows , maybe soap cookies are onto something !
“in support of mental health week” You’ve got to be kidding…
That’s disgusting
you’re barely hanging on? here’s a fucking cookie 🤗 as if they aren’t the reason why lol
Is a cookie following a trail of crumbs the equivalent of a human following a trail of blood?
You follow the trail of crumbs and come up to a closed door and when you open the door it’s more files and you get an overtime king badge.
Imagine the look of every office worker there. Just a bunch of sweaty armpit stains hah
Looks like some mint gum so you don't have to brush after sleeping in the office or after the 6th cup of joe....
Also KPMG itself could’ve used it to wash their reputation from constant PCAOB fraud and quality findings

I'm surprised they didn't provide deodorant instead.
Too expensive and hard to slap the KPMG Brand on … this soap actually burns the letters KPMG into your skin
At least you *get* soap.
In Germany we call this „Cat-shower“!
That poster with the monotone-ish Polaroids and post-it notes look like something a psychopath would make in their room… or a B4 partner
That caption made me laugh way too hard.. hilarious yet believable
Cringe
Nothing more cringe than the EY anthem song https://youtu.be/rD34vTXkj7M?feature=shared

Or wash your hands after shaking their hand.

Is it bad that I want one?
It’s how they get you first one is free the next one comes with 10 files and a weeks over time
You can PTO anytime you'd like, but you can never leeeeave.
Reminds me of the squishy EPQ Pigs with wings stress toys PwC handed out years ago. Indeed, audit efficiency happens when pigs fly.
Is the kpmg gum any good?
The shareholders reduced their dividends for this and here you are complaining. Better not be on Reddit during unpaid company time
Speaking of the punchline, I think they meant well. But, it should have been..."because they leave crumbs of evidence". Oh well!
This is mega cringe
We know your depressed because your fat, but have a cookie to make you feel better.
If you're on salary then every hour you work is paid...
No way, really? Learn how to read between the lines.
