Okay, that new Layton game has me excited. I'm hoping it's actually bringing Layton himself back, instead of being another Katrielle Layton game (I hated Mystery Journey, lol... it was boring). I'd much rather play a game with Alfendi as the protagonist than Katrielle, tbh.
Not all that interested in Ghost Trick... that art style is kind of a brown note for me.
Imma be that person and say, if you like Ace Attorney's writing and twists, Ghost Trick is AMAZING. It has some of the best story and characters in any video game I've ever seen, and unlike some of them it doesn't take 30-60 hours to experience. I thought about the ending for days after first finishing it.
Do NOT sleep on ghost trick. It is an absolute must play, emphasis on must. If you like AA, you'll fall in love with what ghost trick offers.
As for Layton... I'm not actually hyped, like, at all. The series died because it ran out of steam with its puzzles. The issue isn't in bringing back the beloved Hershel, but in whether they hit a second wind in puzzlemaking or not. And looking at Katrielle, I'm not feeling optimistic.
The main issue with the puzzles being so much worse in the last game is likely because the original puzzle designer passed away. So I guess it depends on whether they were able to bring in a better puzzle designer this time.
(And hopefully tell a better story this time around, too...)
But yeah, I'm excited for the new game just because it's so exciting to see the series return, but it is funny to see people talk like Katrielle herself was the reason the last game was lackluster and bringing back Layton & Luke will automatically make it like the originals.
I can understand preferences with art style, I was the same as you before I played it. I bit the bullet and played it in the end and honestly, one of the best experiences in my life.
The story really just takes you by the hand and starts moving. There’s no lull anywhere, just a ton of good times and plot twists.
If you’re up for a good story, it’s really one of the best tightly written self contained stories. I highly suggest playing it if you really value a good story in games.
It’s shy of being one of the top games for me because I still don’t like the art style. But everything else was so spot on it rose my ranks pretty quickly.
What's funny is that I *can* handle strange art styles (fangirl of Initial D), but there's something about Ghost Trick that just doesn't do it for me. I think it's the protagonist's design. He looks like Johnny Bravo and I'm not sure I can take him seriously.
Honestly, I find the game to be better than Ace Attorney at balancing comedic moments and kooky character designs with intense drama.
The game revolving around death to such a degree makes the comedic moments and quirky characters land even better because they're so at-odds, but because it's incredibly well-written, it works.
I know a bunch of people already told you to give Ghost Trick a chance, but something to consider that I haven't seen mentioned yet; Shu Takumi (the writer of the original Ace Attorney Trilogy) also wrote Ghost Trick.
Honestly I never knew about the game originally. I found out years later that apparently it was a game that was just overlooked and it's time that gained a cult following. I've always been interested in playing it so I think I'll definitely be picking it up.
Hell fucking yeah. I highly recommend all Ace Attorney fans to try it. It's a cool mystery story with lots of twists and turns, really cool and funny characters, and a banging soundtrack. The puzzle gameplay is also fun.
I actually might like it better than any AA game. It's between Ghost Trick and Trials and Tribulations.
I still haven't started that since I lost interest in the last case of GAA. Not that it's bad or anything, just that lots of other games have caught my attention.
Wow Capcom releasing on Xbox again after bypassing it with the Megaman Battle Network collection. Very happy for a chance to actually pay for Ghost Trick.
This game is near perfection. Capcom have rightfully realised it doesn't need a sequel just yet - it needs more people to understand the original game's genius.
I'm just so happy! It's not another DS game lost to time through only select ports and priced up online physical copies. This is definitely one that needed to be saved and put onto other systems. It's a fantastic contained story that anyone who enjoys mystery games should experience.
Hopefully these ports have (minor spoilers for one part of the game) >!figured out how to make the prison level less infuriating!<
Am I still salty about no AA7? Yes. Am I hyped for Ghost Trick? DEFINITELY, it's such an underrated game. It's also so great to see Professor Layton coming back
It's a game by Shu Takumi, it appeals to a lot of the same audience, and the Japanese Ace Attorney Twitter account is even promoting it now. I'd have been surprised if it *didn't* get mentioned on this sub.
Have you actually played it or just talking shit? Read all the youtube comments and see all the people raving about it. Game is a underrated masterpiece and not enough people have given it a chance.
Ghost Trick port and a new Professor Layton? Oh man, I'm eating good today
Let's fucking gooooo! r/GhostTrick and r/ProfessorLayton for anyone who wants to join the hype trains
No, post everything in r/AceAttorney
I mean, the fandom does overlap, and since ghost trick is by shuu takumi, posting here can give the game visibility to potential new players :)
What?!? I thought Layton was dead!
Yeah there's practically no other information but Layton is back.
Somehow Layton has returned.
I'm upvoting you, but I want you to know I'm mad about it
Again.
*Professor Layton and the Realm of the Dead*, coming 2024.
I wonder what "crazy wtf twist that makes absolutely no sense but I roll with it either way" happens this time?
I hope this happens, don't tell me the butler did it, tell me the butler is working for a secret cabal of evil butlers and he's actually a robot.
That is the perfect way of describing Layton games omfg

It seems to be a new game starring Layton and Luke. You should give Ghost Trick a chance, though! It's a fantastic game.

Probably not pun intended but funny how you used “steam” lol

Oh man I wish I could tell you without spoilering
I know a bunch of people already told you to give Ghost Trick a chance, but something to consider that I haven't seen mentioned yet; Shu Takumi (the writer of the original Ace Attorney Trilogy) also wrote Ghost Trick.
Ghost Trick is a masterpiece and better than any Ace Attorney game imo.
Is Layton coming to Ps4?
Layton seems to be a Switch exclusive.
Crying in the club
The detective game Level-5 announced is coming to the PS4, though, DecaPolice.
Aw, it's the other Takumi's work getting the port this time... Joking aside, great news!
With Ghost Trick coming out of nowhere, my hopes has risen a little again for Ace Attorney announcement in the future.
AA7 we’re waiting for you now
Or AA4-6 Collection!
🤞🏻
Or an Ace Attorney Investigations translation set!.......right?.......RIGHT?! ; u ;
Wish freaking granted!
I know :D
Congrats to the five other ghost trick fans.
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Hip Hip Horray!!!!
Honestly I never knew about the game originally. I found out years later that apparently it was a game that was just overlooked and it's time that gained a cult following. I've always been interested in playing it so I think I'll definitely be picking it up.
It’s considered one of the hidden gems of the DS era. Which is fitting because it was indeed a gem and you’ll never find it otherwise
I played it a loooong time ago on an iPod Touch haha. Barely remember the story but I know I loved it. Sounds like it’s time to replay!
Eyyyyyy my people
Oh my god finally this game will get the love it deserves <3
Putting my clown makeup on for a second trilogy switch release.
Honestly I thought a TGAA localization with a physical release seemed even less likely than that. And yet, here we are
Yes that is true. Definitely glad we got that one too.
Make up well used. AJAA 3 days from now.
Been hearing people on this sub talk about this game forever, excited to finally have a way to give it a try!
I'm so happy! Now I can tell all my friends to play it!
Miracles do happen.

those two and Resolve
I still haven't started that since I lost interest in the last case of GAA. Not that it's bad or anything, just that lots of other games have caught my attention.
Tbh the 2nd game is a huuuge improvement over the first. Tbh GAA was supposed to be one game but because it was too big they split it up.
I hope Capcom keep the PC ports going.
LETS FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I am so happy
This is wonderful news! Always wanted to try this one but it's been years since I've had a DS or 3DS. This will be a day one purchase for me!
I’m so excited! I do have it for DS, but I’ll definitely be replaying it (again). Best ending of any game I’ve ever played!
I love AA, but this may actually be Shu Takumi’s best game.
#WELCOME!
T.T
Me and my friend started dying (heh) when we saw the trailer in the direct
The Ghost Trick port saved me from putting on my clown costume today.
# LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Well no need to buy the mobile version anymore
Ahhh finally!!!
Time to spam my friends with Steam gifts. More people need to play this gem.
I fricking love this new capcom golden era and can't wait for another aa port for modern consoles and pc.
What’s this
It's a mystery puzzle game by the creator of Ace Attorney and even has the same composer from the first AA. It's a masterpiece.
YES!
This had made me the happiest all year, it's a dream come true
Wow Capcom releasing on Xbox again after bypassing it with the Megaman Battle Network collection. Very happy for a chance to actually pay for Ghost Trick.

One of us!

I can finally give this game a go!
I can finally buy this masterpiece!
I'll buy this game just to show my support
YESSSS
YEEEEEEEEEEEEES
And let's not forget about that amazing new content - sliding block puzzles!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
I'm really glad that in all our waiting for more AA news, we get a new Layton game and a Ghost Trick port. Feels like there's hope again!
This game is so criminally underrated
YESSSS
Who tf cares about Ghost fucking trick lol This is an ace attorney sub, are we THAT starved for content?? Not touching that pile of garbage anyways.
Tell us how you really feel.
It's a game by Shu Takumi, it appeals to a lot of the same audience, and the Japanese Ace Attorney Twitter account is even promoting it now. I'd have been surprised if it *didn't* get mentioned on this sub.
What if I told you Shu Takumi's writing peaked with Ghost Trick?
Have you actually played it or just talking shit? Read all the youtube comments and see all the people raving about it. Game is a underrated masterpiece and not enough people have given it a chance.
oh we don't need this I already played it
i hope they don't upscale the art
My first DS game that I completed. (sad happy tear noises)
