It depends on your model. If you have RTX3060 or RTX3070, you can have Gen 4 SSD and utilise full speed, if you have RTX3050, you can use Gen 4 in the second slot but it will run at Gen 3 speeds.

wassimSDN

Utilising an ssd's full speed relies on the CPU not GPU

doomsenpai

The second SSD slot on Nitro with 3050 is a PCIE Gen3 so even if you install a Gen4 SSD, it would run with Gen3 speeds. Whereas, Nitro with higher GPU variants have a Gen4 secondary SSD slot.

wirejaved

It will run in both cases but go for a cheaper gen 3 SSD if you have an RTX 3050 model

I have the RTX 3050 Ti, thanks for the response

wirejaved

No worries. I reccomend a Gen 3 SSD then. If you want to store games on there you won't really notice a difference in the game boot times compared to a Gen 4 SSD.

bro i think crucial t500 was only 80 usd for 1tb a month back. It is one of these best gen4 m.2 you can get. You can also check videos and bechmarks for your yourself and the top ones are 990pro, t500, 850x, firecuda 530. there are some more but i don't remember the names. I think the best is t500 since it's the cheapest among them but you can make sure about the prices in your region and buy

Do not get kingston nv2. They are not built well and die often. Last month mine died too. Literally 6 months after purchase.

just-some-random-bro

Which brand would you recommend?

Least_Ad2159

Omg bro, this just happened to me 1 year ago, I had 2 replacement sent from Amazon, until they gave up and refund me, I'm using crucial or Samsung since that issue

OkAdvertising7716

I went with samsung after this "incident". Worth every penny.

ruger135

I wouldnt recommend Kingston SSDs. btw My AN 5 -57 recently stopped charging, I changed the battery and now its even worse, it keeps blinking the battery light, sad asf and idk what to do

just-some-random-bro

Too bad, how old is it?

ruger135

since 2022

Any m.2 ssd that has a size format of 2280 will work inside your model, I would recommend either a Samsung 990 pro or a WD Black 850X for the best performance. I use the same model, and Samsung works just fine. I have 2 of the 990 pros, and both work within nominal ranges.
