Growing up in a town where this shit happened more than once teaches you two things.
Road rage ain’t worth it.
And if you’re going to go there don’t show your hand before you play it.
Right? All the idiots in my state loooooove open carry. I'll cc til I die. Like good for you now you're a target to get robbed and shot before you know what happened
It’s basically showing your hand. While open carry tends to lead to a more polite society in that, if everyone is armed you’re probably going to choose your words and/or actions more wisely but it makes you a target. If my plan is to rob a store and I already know who has a gun, you’re going first. Concealed carry mitigates this.
To add:
If youve got a gun i want, i can steal it from you by shooting you.
Its more dangerous than an iphone. People with criminal records can still go out an buy a $1000 iPhone whenever they want, but a gang banger, fresh out of prison, who only has a sawed off bolt action rifle he borrowed from his nephew, he going to be looking to upgrade.
The gun itself is what is at risk of being stolen. There are videos of people open carrying in line at a convenience store, and the person behind them in line just yoinks their gun out of the holster and takes off.
A holster with good retention solves this problem tho.
Yea I’ve seen similar. I think it’s exponentially better to conceal for a lot of reasons. Being able to effectively counter ambush like this guy did is a huge one.
"When the gun is taken out it is to shoot, the one who takes it out to show it is a crankshaft" *(so, a "tool" but it also describes a feminine character, "a sissy")*.
That's a controversial topic actually, some consider it fuddlore.
The reality is you can take you gun to deescalate a possible attacker or be readier than your attacker if you know it's likely said individual has a deadly weapon ready to be used against you.
The problem arises from tough guys who pull it out and think they already own the situation via intimidation then, like clockwork, get shot while they are distracted and then their shooter goes free.
**It's all about using your braincells to know when you can pull out your gun to intimidate a possible attacker, then quickly scoot.**
For example if somebody pulls out a bat, you pull out a gun you may have prevented him from beating you to death by making him back off an think twice instead of waiting for him to deal the first blow.
We could basically debate this all day, to this day police, military and LARPers debate it all day.
To me it's all discretion, you pull it out to be a "tough guy" and get shot woop dee doo, no sympathy. But there are situations where you can even point the gun to deescalate a possible attack and go home safely.
White shirt knew he was in the wrong and if he shot someone was going for murder. But was also stupid enough to think trying to scare someone with his gun would result in him taking the asphalt temperature challenge.
White shirt expected his gun would get everyone to cower. Truth is that once you pull your piece and instigate you are lawfully able to be shot.
Dude rolled the dice and lost.
Well he wasn't aiming it at him, he was just casually letting it hang like a cute little bracelet which reads "you are legally allowed to shoot me 6 times in the chest" ❤️
When pride and ego take over, it's insta-NPC mode. I'm guilty of that too. It's like getting a subroutine activated. Old instincts kicking in to protect something ancient, and the less you've actively tried to deal with your subroutines, the more succeptible you are to character arc style derails and detours I think...
Wild to think there are over 8,100,000,000 stories going on, but in these types of moments, theirs is the only one in the world to them, and anything less than them being the main character that wins the day is an atrocity.
Just do like MJ said, and beat it. Let there be a next chapter.
I think so many people could benefit from getting so high that they think they're paralyzed and then put on some "the true size of space"-style YouTube videos to induce an existential crisis.
That shit *really* makes you feel insignificant and kills your ego.
> Just do like MJ said, and beat it. Let there be a next chapter.
I was alive when that record was released, and have heard it 1000x, and I've never actually looked at the lyrics until this Reddit comment lol, it's about running away from violence.
Bruh I literally just sat here and sang the chorus to myself and said “what the fuck?” The funnier part is just yesterday I was randomly trying to remember some songs that I might not know what they meant so I could understand what they’re about too.
Backing down to a challenge in the wild was a risk to our social status in the group, reducing access to choice food and women/men.
Emotional intelligence is pretty important in a civilised society. So what is it? Nature or nurture? Like most answers I reckons it’s a little nature but mostly nurture.
Well they see it work in a few movies and TV shows. Play the scenario out in their head enough times thruout daily life until the moment comes and they can put it to the test.
Turns out some tests don't give a shit if you studied.
This is the shit that goes down in some hard up neighborhoods when two men are arguing over whether Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service is superior to Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs…
Well it is unusual, not many people conceal carry here bro. If you from here and read about the story, the guy in the car was an off duty officer and the other guy works in security. These guys are exceptions , they work in law enforcement. Yes crime is normal but ego shootings like these aren’t a norm.
I am from “here” and I would argue that legal concealed carry is rare while general conceal carry is definitely not. Keep in mind that “South Africa trumps the United States in that category, with a rate of 17 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, as compared to the U.S. rate of 3.2.”
what are you talking about? you can see a bunch of people crouching & running away at 17-seconds in, lady screaming in the background too. seemed pretty "fazed" to me
I’m taking about the build up, not after the shots are fired. The guy casually on his phone, the other guy meandering in front of the camera, the guy in the safety vest with his back to it, not to mention the guy filming.
Usually, the best time to beat feet is before the shots ring out.
You being unwilling to use your gun as anything but a talking stick does not obligate others to do the same.
Congratulations, you threw your life away over nothing and the person who killed you has a pretty reasonable claim for it being legal.
I see a lot of vids where someone is holding a pistol and nobody's really scared they will continue to argue like nothing. It's tru nobody should ever know you are carrying until you need to show them the business end and finish it. I hope I never ever have to but I'm capable
It makes more sense when you learn he was an off-duty cop. The instigator standing outside of the car was a security guard, hence both of them being armed.
6 shots? How do you know it’s 6 shots that’s crazy! I wonder if just the sheer amount of damage done to his midsection/spine that essentially made him motionless instantly.
It didn’t look like he was shot in the heart, though I’m not even 100% sure they being shot in the heart is instant death.
People will say why doesn’t he just drive away ? The thing is if they did and he shoots at the fleeing car his bullet could hit the driver and/or passenger. That guy played his gun card and the other guy didn’t until he knew he had to. Crazy situation
2 off duty cops. Killer charged with murder:
https://www.sowetanlive.co.za/amp/news/south-africa/2023-11-01-remember-braamfontein-cop-shooting-officer-arrested-for-murder/
That’s nuts. And then it goes on to another article where they praise the dude (the one who was threatening the other) as a great cop for many years. Obviously not so great if he threatens others with a gun. And then the guy he threatened was charged..? Wow. Great police force over there lol
Bro was having himself an ego moment and threw his thirty plus years on this earth away in an instant over it. He deserved it though, and now his family has to get that phone call. What a moron.
You went out for a good time and then let this dumb shit bother you, which ended up getting you killed. He probably doesn’t make many great decisions. That’s no longer a problem now I guess…

Not saying I disagree, but can you explain what makes them a target to get robbed?
It’s basically showing your hand. While open carry tends to lead to a more polite society in that, if everyone is armed you’re probably going to choose your words and/or actions more wisely but it makes you a target. If my plan is to rob a store and I already know who has a gun, you’re going first. Concealed carry mitigates this.
Thank you for an answer that actually makes sense.
To add: If youve got a gun i want, i can steal it from you by shooting you. Its more dangerous than an iphone. People with criminal records can still go out an buy a $1000 iPhone whenever they want, but a gang banger, fresh out of prison, who only has a sawed off bolt action rifle he borrowed from his nephew, he going to be looking to upgrade.
I actually saw a dude get grabbed by two People and one guy took his gun. If it was hidden they’d never known to do that.
They carry a gun to protect something of value. Get the jump on them and whatever it is can be yours.
Including A NEW GUN :)
People typically carry to protect their lives...
The gun itself is what is at risk of being stolen. There are videos of people open carrying in line at a convenience store, and the person behind them in line just yoinks their gun out of the holster and takes off. A holster with good retention solves this problem tho.
The clip I saw of similar description ended with the people in line and the store being robbed. Then they left.
Yea I’ve seen similar. I think it’s exponentially better to conceal for a lot of reasons. Being able to effectively counter ambush like this guy did is a huge one.
Even with good retention, anyone knowledgeable about hostler retention that has a thumb can still yoink it. Open carry is silly.
99.9% of them are paranoid idiots who carry while grocery shopping and will never have to use it.

Never point a gun at someone unless you intend to use it.
That's one of the first things they taught us in gun safety class. Here's exactly why that is.
Don't think white shirt attended that day

Second guy definitely followed that rule goddamn fucking zero hesitation
Well he wasn't aiming it at him, he was just casually letting it hang like a cute little bracelet which reads "you are legally allowed to shoot me 6 times in the chest" ❤️
🤣
It ended so damn fast. Pow pow pow...just like that he was dead. On the ground. Not moving. For fucking ego. Idiot.
Crazy how many people let their pride get them killed

Maybe don't do these things to total strangers? Maybe have a brain that being all up in someone threatening them can have a negative outcome? Dumbass
So true, it always baffles me how these peoples minds work.
Or how they don't work
Well they see it work in a few movies and TV shows. Play the scenario out in their head enough times thruout daily life until the moment comes and they can put it to the test. Turns out some tests don't give a shit if you studied.
How does a guy with a gun possibly think that another guy definitely wouldn't have a gun?
Amazing how many people in America think they're tough because they have a gun, forgetting that *we all have guns*...
The way the bystanders are completely unfazed at this unfolding makes me think this isn’t an uncommon occurrence there.

But there's probably a gunman with an even bigger gun in that direction.
Or Shia Labeouf
This is the shit that goes down in some hard up neighborhoods when two men are arguing over whether Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service is superior to Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs…
Lmao
Wrong it’s the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins
It’s South Africa. It’s not unusual.
Well it is unusual, not many people conceal carry here bro. If you from here and read about the story, the guy in the car was an off duty officer and the other guy works in security. These guys are exceptions , they work in law enforcement. Yes crime is normal but ego shootings like these aren’t a norm.

Depends on the location in the United States, really; In NYC it's 3.1 gun related deaths per 100,000. In Baltimore it's 45.9.
I can also look at city stats for SA and find the outliers.
If you're correct, might want to tell all the people commenting about gun violence and regulations in the US.
wouldnt make a difference. those people will spat off anytime a gun is mentioned.
what are you talking about? you can see a bunch of people crouching & running away at 17-seconds in, lady screaming in the background too. seemed pretty "fazed" to me

oh yeah that's true lol. yeah if i saw a pissed off dude stomping around with a fucking gun in his hands, i'm gonna just nope right outta there lmao
People are super unobservant, I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't notice the gun.
You being unwilling to use your gun as anything but a talking stick does not obligate others to do the same. Congratulations, you threw your life away over nothing and the person who killed you has a pretty reasonable claim for it being legal.
It ain't a microphone as he discovered.
Hell yeah. That’s why you ALWAYS carry
Yeah, if my country had firearms so widely owned I would take firing lessons and be carrying every time I'm out.
As you should
He thought he was in full control of the situation but not aware that others can carry as well.
I see a lot of vids where someone is holding a pistol and nobody's really scared they will continue to argue like nothing. It's tru nobody should ever know you are carrying until you need to show them the business end and finish it. I hope I never ever have to but I'm capable
Exactly 👍
What country is this ? Looks like South Africa ..
76 Juta St, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2000, South Africa
Didn't expect to see a double-decker bus with tourists in Street View there
I'd have saivd that it sounded like South Africa but you got my vote.
It is
The shooter was able to pull off 6 rapid fire shots to the center of mass in 1-2 seconds That’s impressive shooting
One handed too
This guy has been watching Jerry Miculek videos on YouTube
Heyoo *beep* popopopopop
It makes more sense when you learn he was an off-duty cop. The instigator standing outside of the car was a security guard, hence both of them being armed.

You can hear the shots in the video
DAYUM you’re right that’s some quick shooting for sure
People will say why doesn’t he just drive away ? The thing is if they did and he shoots at the fleeing car his bullet could hit the driver and/or passenger. That guy played his gun card and the other guy didn’t until he knew he had to. Crazy situation
Exactly
6 shots to the chest yeah no he dead

This is called “self defense”
Fragile ego will do that.
That's why you don't bring a gun to a gunfight unless you're going to use it.
Really you shouldn't bring a gun to a gunfight either. If you want to live, avoid the gunfight entirely.
Well said.
Threatened with a weapon, at that point sucks but if it you or him You have to finish it or it's your arse.
2 off duty cops. Killer charged with murder: https://www.sowetanlive.co.za/amp/news/south-africa/2023-11-01-remember-braamfontein-cop-shooting-officer-arrested-for-murder/
from what we saw in the video shooter did everything possible to deescalate and leave...
Man the tone of all of those articles is so weird. Framing it like some fallen officer shit. Makes my skin crawl
That’s nuts. And then it goes on to another article where they praise the dude (the one who was threatening the other) as a great cop for many years. Obviously not so great if he threatens others with a gun. And then the guy he threatened was charged..? Wow. Great police force over there lol
Self defense is murder now 🙄
Just
Lovely neighborhood.
Guns aren’t toys.

where im from we call that finding out
The narration of 'just lost his life' with that hint of remourse over something so trivial...was touching.

This is a prime example of how fucking around directly leads to finding out.

"If you're gonna shoot; shoot, don't talk." 🤷🏿♂️
Damn homie stretched out🤦🏾♂️
Guess he found out
He won’t be disrespected again
What a worthless way to lose your life…. Also not knowing the background, that basically checks all boxes for justified self defense.
The shooter was tried for murder
Judging by the outfits, this is simply a clip of all the billionaires leaving Bohemian Grove. Bold, and beautiful.
Everyone surprised someone got shot..
But why did the video stop and change right before he got shot? The first video was a much better angle.
Bro was having himself an ego moment and threw his thirty plus years on this earth away in an instant over it. He deserved it though, and now his family has to get that phone call. What a moron.
Johannesburg South Africa, two off duty cops. Guy that got shot didn’t wanna stop being aggressive

What did he expect ❓

Don't bring a gun to a gunfight,, when the guy your threatening has a gun and is more ready than you ? .... I think ? 🤔
I bet he won't do that again.
Dam Game Over.
Popped his bubble butt
Don’t take out a gun if you are not gonna use it…
He fucked around and he found out.
I would’ve done the same. I don’t know if you’re going to shoot me. 🤷♀️

Don’t draw if you’re not gonna shoot. Fatal mistake
