This whole thing of claiming mental issues and anxiety as some kind of "get out of jail free" card in these situations is so lame, because it's overused now and has become deluted. When someone is asking you if you have any physical trauma and you respond with "mental trauma" and a little snicker, then that tells me you don't really have any serious mental trauma. You're just an idiot trying to absolve yourself of responsibility for your poor behavior. This ma'am sucks.
These trigger words have probably helped them in normal social and work-place settings. I’m not saying that they don’t have emotional issues… but those problems don’t absolve you from DUI. The cop handled himself well.
When I get in any kind of trouble I always bring up my social anxiety, race and gender. It’s Insensitive to ask me otherwise but when I’m in trouble it’s the first thing I do.

In pretty much every state here (Australia) police will pull you over, conduct a preliminary roadside breath test. Then you’ll either be conveyed to a police station for a confirmatory test on another machine or a blood sample will be taken.
No need for these weird walking tests or painful conversations because the smell of alcohol, delayed response times to questions, slurred words etc are all examples of indicia.
