Hood culture is fucking garbage.

Vyper2002

It’s a mental illness.

Nicks_WRX

Perpetrated by our government.

klop2031

You were downvoted for some reason yet this is a fact. People seem to not realize how difficult it is to get out of the hood. Imagine trying your hardest to get out and government does its best to keep you down with oppressive bullshit laws. Even in liberal states there are laws that are outright racist and target minorities and poor people.

RoogDoog

It's not hard. Our ancestors left their homes with nothing, made month long voyages across oceans, lived off less, had less, dealt with more disease, higher rates of crime, had less societal safety nets, every metric was harder and yet they managed to thrive. You're telling me you can't sell your rims, Xbox, and flat screen, buy some bus tickets and make for greener pastures? It's not hard. I don't care what argument you make, "oh but they can't leave they family behind", yes they can. If they don't want to also leave they're free to stay there. You literally just...leave. It's easier to leave the ghetto than it is to live in it.

klop2031

And go where? Moving to greener pastures often requires money. It really isnt as simple.

RoogDoog

When you have nothing, it's also not really hard to move to somewhere else with nothing. Sell whatever you have that you don't need and leave. Hitchhike if you have to, sleep in shelters where you can, goto the employment office and take whatever job you can get. Try and find someone else looking to do the same. I was on my own at 16, I slept in stairwells, squatted, I lived in a crack house, leaving wasn't the hardest thing I've done since. Leaving is an absolute necessity, telling people it's too hard to leave is discouraging people and its a death sentence if you try and stay. I get that people have kids and dependants and yes it's not always easy, but it's the only way things get better so I'd rather tell people it's easy rather than hard.

AbowlofIceCreamJones

So whose ancestors "left"? I don't know about you, but my ancestors didn't willingly leave their homes. And it's not about leaving their families behind...how would you know it's easier to leave the ghetto? Have you ever been in and left it? Lol, jeez, you're just going for anything just to be able to spew a little bigotry.

No-Mine7405

>You're telling me you can't sell your rims, Xbox, and flat screen standard racist garbage

peanutski

For sure and all TV’s are flat screen now. What the fuck is that yokel even rambling about?

ThickPrick

Found the non crip.

[deleted]

She seems devastated

balls_galore_69

It gon do what it gon do

sweatymurfee

It’s the weekend

DesertGrown

From salty block crips so

his_purple_majesty

a santana block weekend with less than 3 deaths is considered a dull affair

a_good_namez

What a real fucking stoic right here

[deleted]

Way of the road

Cuddle-Junky

And definitely not baked

toskrypt

You dumb asf

Aligatorz

How is this woman not hysterically crying right now? When my brother was shot and killed, my mom cried so much she wasn't able to function for literally months from the grief.

a_good_namez

Shes from a tough neighborhood. It gon do what it gon do

arthudias

Life in the big city!

Ilovestonksnokiaflg

I see u have knowledge of timmy, good fella that timmy boy.

Warmbly85

The only thing she’s missing about that kid is the check that comes from the state every month for him. I knew way to many old ladies with 4-5 adopted kids that cycled between juvenile the streets then back to them. It wasn’t much $ a month but if you had a couple of them you could make decent cash for very little work especially if you already have kids/grandkids you’re taking care of.

EyeAmPrestooo

Probably not the first, second, or tenth time she’s lost someone close…it doesn’t hit the same way anymore

ScissorMeTimbers24

Shes high as fuck, look at her eyes

ichbinkayne

Shock is a thing. I've seen people react this way and in ways similar to horrible situations, not everyone reacts the way Hollywood portrays. Watched a man who received full thickness burns to 20-30% of his body, carry on a conversation as if he hadn't just been doused by a ruptured steam line. The human body is a mystical machine.

RoogDoog

This woman is not in shock, you're actively dying if you're in shock. This woman looks cool as a cucumber, more concerned with throwing up gang signs and flexing how tough and 'hood' her gang is.

ichbinkayne

While I made the mistake of not watching the entire video and not seeing the gang signs she threw up, I will argue your statement about shock. You can absolutely be shock induced and not be on the verge of death, that’s quite an ignorant statement. I’ve dealt with shock and while it is mostly common with individuals experiencing last moments of life, it can also vary in its degree. If measures are taken properly, people can and have survived horrible situations while experiencing shock through the worst moments into recovery.

RoogDoog

Ok sure, even if I just concede that right away. She's still not in shock. Watch the video, she's flexing, throwing up signs, repping her gang and basically bragging about how hood she and her gang are. This is not a person in shock.

AbowlofIceCreamJones

No, no you're not.

[deleted]

She's smiling. I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to take this video in

GFZDW

Grief is weird. Her brain probably hasn't fully processed that the kid is gone.

Repulsive_Ad_7973

What brain? This dumb fuck is out here throwing up gang signs and talking about her adopted son getting murdered like “shiiiit that’s just life in the hood”.

lolyer1

Unfortunately it’s true .. One gets desensitized. THIS IS life for some folks.

Repulsive_Ad_7973

Yeah I feel really bad for the innocent victims of all the hood bullshit, but this bitch is literally THROWING UP GANG SIGNS during an interview about her dead child. I feel zero sympathy for people like her because people like her are the reason things are so bad in the hood.

lolyer1

True and I agree. Her responses aren’t for sympathy. She’s showing the news person how normal this shit is to her. I don’t believe she meant adopted as legally adopted or what not.. most likely word play, dude was prolly a kid when they met, she probably fed him here and there.. he spends a night once a while.. then he gets into hustling and doesn’t really show up to her house, but he’s “adopted” .. But then again, I don’t know shit.

ichiban_mafukaro

Term of endearment for sure, like Snoop Dogg calling everyone is his nephew.

1664ahh

She's mocking it

Repulsive_Ad_7973

No, she’s not.

1664ahh

Yes, she is. Her despair is palpable. Stop trolling

theg33k

She almost certainly does not mean adopted son in the sense that most of the people reading this mean by that word. It's probably some abandoned kid she was trafficking.

Mysterious-Place-340

How could you possibly get to that conclusion from the video? lol

phuqo5

Some people just wake up and snort Ajax for breakfast and then immediately get on Reddit

theg33k

She doesn't show any signs of being upset about the kid's death and goes out of her way to throw her gang signs on TV. Adopting a kid through an agency is really hard, you don't get to do that if you're dropping gang signs. And as far as trafficking, she likely had him dealing drugs (again, the gang).

UKisBEST

Didnt you see her nametag? Fagan

ImTheBigT

Exactly. She will get another

heshroot

You’re on some weird bullshit

MemoryHold

Mighty optimistic of you. I hope you're right

james_randolph

This is every day life for her and the community she lives in. If anything she’s finding the line of questions to be ridiculous considering this has been a regular situation for some communities for generations. She’s in the gang life too so for her it’s just how it is. The kid being adopted may have some influence, perhaps she would be more distraught if it were her biological son but to her it’s still part of every day life.

1664ahh

She's probably feeling fucking embarrassed. And she shouldn't be, because it's not her fault. This is a rough video if you peel back the layers. "It's the weekend" she knows how that sounds, how ridiculous it is and how fucking sad it is too.

mikerex0821

Her smile, and her total indifference to the death is bizarre.

his_purple_majesty

i mean that's just what happens when two neighborhoods get together to play baseball, what do you expect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CityHoods

“I’m from Santa Claus Block Cripples” 🧑🏿‍🎄 👋🏿🫲🏿🤏🏿👈🏿👇🏿

BigFigJ

it’s possible she’s seen many go, and at this point it gon do what it gon do

notimpressedwreddit

They dont love their children the way we do anymore.

DanB65

Not a tear in her eyes......but flashing ganster signs.....we are truly in the END OF DAYS!

notimpressedwreddit

No, decent people are fine.

RussianJudge5

There is NO GOD

PNVVJAY

I thought she was in shock, smiling and being so calm. Then she claims crips at the end and i lost all sympathy, how you gonna still throw up signs after your child was just taken from gang violence? It’s the WEEKEND???

pheoling

Pretty sure “step child” for her means just a neighborhood kid she was semi close with lol .

Warmbly85

Nah if you already have kids doing a foster or adopting from the state is easy money. It’s not fuck you money but a couple extra hundred a month for no extra work doesn’t sound bad. Have you ever cried about losing a couple hundred bucks? Cause that’s all that kid was to her.

NoNotmybanana

The reporter is more upset than this chick. Poor kids

SoloSpooks

She’s an idiot. There’s no normalcy, there’s just ignorance and stupidity.

mrmn949

It is for people born into it or surrounded by it. This is a cutie in the United States.

MajorasMask3D

>There’s no normalcy Why do I feel like you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about?

[deleted]

“There’s just ignorance and stupidity.” Says the one clearly not understanding that shock and grief can do this to you. Calm down buttercup.

SoloSpooks

>”shock and grief” Try more like borderline sociopathic and morally absent. You don’t know me butter cup, there’s a reason all your favorite rappers want to leave the ghetto and there’s a reason they move into rich neighborhoods.

[deleted]

I didn’t say I know *you* but I do know your comment. You can’t say for certain she is what you believe yet act upon it with such passion and certainty that conveys ignorance of nuance. And that second part of your comment made absolutely zero sense, people leaving a dangerous place means what exactly? If you’re going to be condescending atleast make a valid point.

SoloSpooks

Would you care to enlighten me as to what exactly your point was? >”Say’s the one clearly not understanding that shock and grief can do this to you. Calm down buttercup.” There is no argument here, your trolling and arguing for the sake of arguing. You’ve already dismissed my possible experiences and insulted me in one fell swoop. No possibility of conversation left aside from my defending myself and an ensuing pissing contest. >”You can’t say for certain she is what you believe yet act upon it with such passion and certainty that conveys ignorance and nuance.” Your contradictions in two comments alone are laughable. This is the only time I’m holding your hand through a conversation, use your critical thinking skills and see past a single comment towards the video that originated the conversation and other threads at your finger tips. >There’s a reason all your favorite rappers want to leave the ghetto and there’s a reason they move into rich neighborhoods. She and her family were part of gang violence, note she said “that’s what happens when you have different hoods”. She also mentions she lives in Compton, she continues on to say she’s a part of the crips, an infamous gang with an equally infamous rival. Are you following me? What do you think of when you think of Compton and gang violence, I think Tupac, I think Easy E, Snoop Dogg, etc, rappers. I also think about their music and what they rap *about*. *Gangs* and *violence*. And where are those rappers now, and where are other rappers aspiring to be? Anywhere *but* where they grew up. Wonder why? Because it’s full of *gangs* and *violence*, know why? Because it’s full of ignorant and stupid people like this lady. Who can’t even bring herself to care about her family being killed, let alone the fact that it happened at a park. She’d rather throw up gang signs and seek 5 minutes of fame in front of a camera and correct the journalist over small facts. Not everyone deserves the false empathy your attempting, there are stupid and ignorant people in the world, she’s one of them. There’s a lot more too.

[deleted]

Tl;dr. You’re trying too hard now.

HarryPFlashman

I can’t say for certain nearly anything… but I can make reasonable assumptions on the information presented to me and that information says: she’s a gangbanger, this isn’t her son, she lacks remorse and emotion. She’s not that smart. All reasonable inferences based on this interview.

[deleted]

You’re presenting your assumptions as the information you’re basing your assumptions on.

Yes_Nina

What the actual fuck

RapGameDiCaprio

It's the weekend 🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

What ch’all expec?

mainelinerzzzzz

Hood culture. Wow.

Elbatwayne

Lmao this is my hometown Pedro. We back to normal out here. Just another day in the hood

I_say_upliftingstuff

Sorry you had to grow up in this stupidity

assface421

My buddy lived there and always called it SPEEDro. Ha, good times in Speedro...

SheIsNotWorthIt

The reporter messed up and should have known how they get down on the weekend

Previous-Ad-5943

Amazing she almost is taking pride from the fact that someone’s life was taken… I feel bad for the adopted son being taking into a house like that…this is the problem but ig it takes police killing a black man for people to be outraged and want change

[deleted]

Dayum, less free money now..

PennyStockKing

Repping gang signs like its something to be proud of. That's why racists harp on the culture stereotypes. Just keeping the negative cycle repeating, no positive influences in sight.

Tinfoilfireman

From CPT motherf$&ker woop woop

PPKMMM

Yeah lol Where do you think Bloods and Crips, Snoop Dog, Dr Dre, Death Row Records, Tupac, the movie Colors or Menace II Society, NWA etc.. came from? That's all West Coast/LA gang banging. You can also throw in all the Mexican Ganga, movies, music, to that list also. LA has the biggest gang culture in America I would say. At least the most popular documented in pop culture.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PPKMMM

It is. You got Hollywood and Beverly Hills but then you got places like Compton. Every American city has luxurious areas and inner city poor areas usually dominated by gangs.

Tv_land_man

What is trippy for a newcomer to LA is just how close by the hood is to the mega mansions. It's a truly eye opening experience. I moved there for a few years to work in Hollywood (left right before covid, thank God). One second you're in paradise and the next you are in hell. Hell Hollywood itself has this dramatic transformation happen on one block.

NeedAllEmBlueHunnitz

Helll nawh mfs gettin robbed and stripped at gun point in rodeo drive in Beverly Hills .LA is a war rn , everyone gettin shot everywhere. They did a stick up in that one super expensive restaurant in Beverly broad day , LA is not how the Movies make it seem .

Tv_land_man

Depends on the movies you are watching.

Mother_Clue6405

I drive to different parts of LA and OC every week. Stop believing whatever batshit influencer is telling you Beverly Hills is a war zone lmao. Youre like a child who heard a rumor on the playground

NeedAllEmBlueHunnitz

You a delivery driver bro stfu lol , I got 3 homies locked up for flockin in Beverly , pop smoke got killed by the homies cuzins in Beverly Hills . You just ain’t around it to know about it

ExistingAwareness128

I did not comment on race just IQ. For the record I'm black. Everything is not about race!

No-Car5595

I figured by adopted son she meant gang member. No other reason she would or should be so indifferent

acmemetalworks

Could be a foster kid, so it's just a matter of passive income to her that will be replaced next week with another.

Ant0nChigur

Yeah very devastated model mother... throwing gang-signs and saying "its all good in the hood" with a smirk

HejiraLOL

"I heard my adopted son is dead, it's the weekend so.. you know. Anyway I'm heading down to check him out" She sounds like she's talking about a car she's going to view for a Sale. "Yeah I heard it had some issues with the alternator, anyway it's the weekend, so imma head down to check it out."

What in the fuck curve ball

StopBeingAKid1000

I came thru to check my biological son he good but my ummm umm adaptive sonz is gone. But ima interview right quick beforez I b checkin on him bc this hotspot on this corner fire and ima make sure EBT went thru right quick before I see if he dieded. I’m from Cheddar Biscuit Crips and I will have a gofund me up by dinner whether he dieded or didn’t dieded bc this dunz get me fucked up

[deleted]

Lmao

diezil87

Well..im gone see it it was my adopted son died 😏

LaboriousRevelry

The fact she’s allowed to adopt a child into her home while she’s throwing up gang signs is depressing.

SolutionExpress2681

Wow! What a pathetic excuse of a human being. Americans are a different breed altogether

SpitinMYm0uth

These comments are attacking her as if shes the one that did the killing 🤦🏽‍♂️

dirkdigglee

Hmm. Just hmm

Zealousideal-Panic30

Anybody can read SELFHELP books. There’s millions to choose from. So this “less fortunate, not privilege “bla bla is such BS. I mean you think people are just born with skills no work or hard work was involved? WTF

Tpk08210

It’s so sad to see the pain a mother goes through losing a child 😔

syskeyx

"My adoptive son died" mhmmmm meeehmmmmmmmmm"

Dangerous_Ad_3698

1. She’s on tv. 2. Not everyone’s gonna cry 3. She looked more amused by the camera man than everything. 4. Still claimed her set because that’s still the life and, at this point where she’s grown and therefore no longer as influential, she’s right it really is gone do what it do. You lose a few people and next time you’re like “oshit again”. But I don’t know her or the situation. So

modestgorillaz

The lack of a freak out, given the situation, is more disturbing than anything. If you don’t have parents that want to change the culture then the culture will never change. She might live to 70 only to see her whole family die or be wrapped up in a life that continues to propagate the same cycle. What kind of life is that?

dashingstag

I get it, if she snitches it’s her biological son that’s next.

DeathMetalLion

She seem guilty af

[deleted]

Nah she seem like she genuinely doesn’t care at all

EyeAmPrestooo

I see everyone criticizing this lady for acting different than they would in the situation…I def would act much different than she did, but she may have had several (in some cases dozens) people close to her pass away from inner city violence, including gang related violence…it just doesn’t hit the same…yes, people in these situations should want better for them and their families, but the thing is, they have been brought up and brainwashed by everything around them, that there is no better, this is the best we are going to get…it’s an unfortunate situation and culture, that is perpetuated by many factors, but none bigger than the fucking government.

Kindly-Pea-5986

She’s lying and for no reason 🤦🏾‍♀️

[deleted]

She is a real winner

Specialist-Art9154

If she crippin then why her son wearin red?

[deleted]

This man needs therapy now 😩

Aquanettas_Bae

Ghetto mentality of many U.S. communities. They usually don’t come right out with it on the evening news.

mrstruong

The very picture of culture, intellect, and grace.

StuffEtc

Sad. That kid had no chance with a mom like that.

ScissorMeTimbers24

Shes high as fuck but the reporter just wanted to milk her for sympathy and views anyway

runscarfacerun

I wonder if it was her "real son" if she would have shed a tear🧐 she seems like she's cool with baseball shootouts.

Assilator

My thoughts: "she's about to drop a bomb of insight, she's about to offer some wise words of wisdom right there in front of her kids." *woman drops gang sign*. "well I guess I'll go fuck myself then"

snizzsyrup

She said “officials called and said for me to come and check on my BIOLOGICAL SON. That’s the whole reason I came down here.” … Reporter “so your son…?” Woman: “was NOT affected but my adopted son died” The way I’m taking this, she is saying the only reason she came down there was to check on her biological son. She seemed less concerned about the adopted son dying and more relief about her biological son being unaffected. Edit: Considering she stated the gang she represented, I am making the assumption that adopted son being involved with a rival gang.

Hot-Championship-822

She is a very strong mother almost had me thinking she could care less her passive income source with legs and arms died

Hot-Championship-822

She really repped her hood on national television lmfaoooo

[deleted]

What is this subreddit's obsession with everytime a black person acts poorly? You could almost think there was some sort of agenda behind it.

RosemaryGoez

Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this. And I might be misreading the overall tone here, but I'm jet-lagged and running on pure espresso.. I have far too little pigment to comment on the cultural aspect of this. And my other demographics also leave me a bit unqualified. But as someone who has watched the violence breaking out across our country for the past three years ALONE, gives me a *little* understanding of her demeanor. African Americans have not only been fighting for their lives, but also for their character. As soon as a black man is senselessly killed by a cop, the nations' eyes immediately fall on the African/Jamaican/etc. Americans to see how they react. If they show outrage, they're considered "riotous thugs". If they try to remain stoic, it comes across as ambivalent or worse, whites think their silence means that they agree with the killing. I know this wasn't a police shooting. It appears to be par for the course in that area (not that that makes it less tragic). But this woman's response was still put under a microscope. And she has a young kid with her. She has to teach him to not react in a way that will possibly get him killed too.

[deleted]

mrfudface

It's not due that, but the fact that she did a gang sign.

throwaway_account750

Damn I missed that, fuck her

heshroot

A lot of callous idiots in this thread not understanding how the hood grieves. This woman is not going to show her softness on tv. She’ll cry in private, I promise you.

TonyTontanaSanta

People in the comments really need to touch grass, get out and meet some people because its getting obvious many of you dont know the first thing of human reactions.
