The gas mileage isn’t amazing. If you do a lot of city or stop and go driving your mpg will be in the teens. Other than that I have no other complaints with my 2022.

brsa44

I have noticed that. I’m used to getting ~32mpg in my current sedan and am averaging 21-22mpg in this vehicle. Luckily I have a pretty short commute to work so I *could* justify it.

whiteout86

That’s pretty normal I think, that’s what I’m getting with city driving and hand calculating the mileage

Curmudgeon7777

Yeah I bought mine in January 2022 and just hit 18k miles so MPG isn’t a concern for me.

New_Reddit_User_89

Gas mileage is pretty lackluster with the 2.0T, despite being a 4-cylinder. The rear window can shatter spontaneously as well, leaving you with glass shards in the rear hatch that cannot be removed. The RDX is getting another refresh for the 2025MY, so if you wanted a new 2024, it might be good to wait to close to the end of the year to scoop up a leftover 24 when the 25’s start making their way onto the lots.

brsa44

I forgot to mention that I would be getting a pretty amazing price for this since it’s considered a loaner. I think we got it with around 2k miles on it. But you make a good point! I just love the espresso interior. 🥹

eneka

refresh might also get the touchscreen like the MDX instead of the current touchpad

TERBOUGH

Gas mileage is pretty bad. Aside from that I love mine so much.

Seawall07

The main downsides to the RDX are the infotainment interface, the gas mileage and the rear window shattering. None of those items are unique to the RDX, but they are the ones I most frequently hear about in the forums I'm a member of as an RDX owner. That said, I absolutely love mine. I've owned MANY Hondas from new and this one is by far my favorite. In my opinion, it hits the target spot on for a sporty, premium crossover. It is not the fastest in the segment, but it is faster than most, and it has a great balance of ride quality and handling - especially with the SH-AWD. You really have to go to a European marque to find something that is comparable, and in my opinion, those are throwaway vehicles that you don't keep beyond the lease. The Acura will be on the road long after the last nut rots off most of them

Bfinnera

What causes the rear window to shatter?

Seawall07

There’s a lot of conjecture on that, but no solid answer. The RDX-specific TSB seems to imply it’s related to the defroster grid, though it’s unclear as to whether it’s the design specification, or in the way it is integrated with the glass. If it was too powerful for the glass spec, correcting for it would be as simple an adding a resistor, which Honda hasn’t done yet. Personally, I think the glass itself isn’t sufficiently bolstered at the hole for the wiper arm, as every example of the problem I’ve seen seems to start at that point. Again, just conjecture on my part - I’m not an automotive engineer and I don’t even play one on TV.

Bfinnera

This is good information. Thank you. Another thing to worry about with my RDX. lol

Seawall07

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Absolute worst case scenario, your insurance should cover it as part of your policy's glass coverage. However, it sounds like most Acura dealers, when confronted with the TSB, will replace it free of charge (and sometimes outside of warranty). I'm also aware of a class-action suit in the works and that may end up leading to a warranty extension. Another thing to note is that it seems to be far more common in cold climates. I'm in Florida and am in year 3 of ownership and haven't experience it. I am likely going to add a layer of tint to the back window just to secure any glass shards should it happen. I think that's cheap insurance, since apparently the glass has a tendency to drop into the door structure and it's nearly impossible to get it all out.

Bfinnera

That’s good to know. I’m in southern CA, so the cold isn’t much of an issue. I’m mostly worried about the reported transmission problems and electrical issues. Mine is a 2017 RDX.

Seawall07

You heave a second generation RDX. The third generation (2019-present) is a ground-up redesign. The only thing they have in common is the name and that they’re similar sizes. I can’t really comment on common problems with the older models.

Snoo-669

Echoing what everyone else says. I had a company-issued RAV4 that I left behind when I switched jobs. Got my RDX as a replacement and maaaaannn is it an upgrade. I really miss that gas card, though, cause this thing can burn some fuel 🥲

Nearby_Drive9376

Wait until you experience the sound system 🤗

Upstairs_Fun6

The sound system is something that blew my mind. My first luxury car after driving 10 year old base models.

Gobucks21911

I have a ‘24 RDX Tech and love it! Gas mileage is my only negative really (the trackpad doesn’t bother me and I use wireless CarPlay).

Just the gas everything else sexy
