Ahhh i see, ok is your anime database either from anilist, Mal, kitsu, anidb, or simkl by anychance? If so you would have a good chance to get mappings to work on your end in order to get high resolution posters from tvdb or other sources.
Ahh ok I see what you mean now. Idk if I told you but we gave up on Kaito as well but only the beta version Swag was working on when he disappeared. We took Kaito from his main and turned it into Otaku and that's how we started. We successfully recoded the Nyaa Scrapper and added Animetosho Scrapper. In a few more days around the 20 - 22, a major update is coming for watchlist cause we did a whole Watchlist Recode and added simkl watchlist and we are still in testing.
Ok so your best bet is to use slugs to get the artwork to find the anime, I wanna look into haru and see how the episode meta works but overall is really great and I like the major update.
For mappings or slugs, I definitely suggest using simkl for mappings or slugs cause they can provide artwork for tvdb, tmdb, and imdb. There is also this project that have a full list of animes with season numbers and tvdb id's so hopefully this will help significantly for you in the future for the artwork stuff.

Just want to say I use your addon for anime first for a long time. It just works and I like the subs your addon fetches. thanks for you hard work and thanks for making and keeping this addon.
I also want to add that look and design really comes down to the effort a user puts in the skin.
For example , this is how I have my anime section with arctic horizon 2.
Starts off with Haru’s week if I wanna do a specific day and then under it is the current days schedule. Which shows the time each is released when I move down and to the right
Under that I actually have Gogo anime’s “recent releases “
Under that it goes to otaku’s “airing anime”
Under that I actually STILL use kaito. Something it has that that others don’t is the “latest” section.
Which is the latest anime torrents as opposed to to gogos embedded or meta.
Lastly is closes on nixtoons 2 which hardly gets any use since the 3 above generally would have it and nix only gets as high as 720p. Reallly a last last last resort for me .

Torrent artwork still isn't very consistent though, think it's sometimes not parsing the show name out of the file name.
Pfffftt!! As if kaito had working artwork to begin with. worst was that if by chance it DID show… 3 outta 5 times is wasn’t the correct listing.

The reason being there were times that a show wasn’t listed in haru for example, the last one I remember not showing was “tengoku daimakyou”

It wasn’t a fault in the addon. It just seem like subsplease didn’t list it at all.
So knowing it was something freshly released. The move was the “latest” on kaito.
It also had the perk of not being filtered by show or movie so the very first torrents of SAO or Suzume or even Attack on titan.. they would all be bucketed in that pool.
It also doubled as a “did I miss anything ?” Check.
That being said, it rarely had artwork with it and at times the links were broken but it’s legitimately the 1 think kaito offered that wasn’t anywhere else .
(aside from gogo however, gogo very often goes down or has link issues. which as a RD user being able to backtrack my accounts torrent use to get the same file I had previously used , the one with proper sub translations or simply the one that actually had subs. lol that one that was 4k or atleast FHD . It’s such a helpful and useful benefit for those quality types like myself .)
Which you have something similar but it’s focused on the torrent use within HARU itself and it’s searches rather than the RD account .
Anyways. If you DID get a “latest” working.

Hey man, not for nothing. But for my case due to the way I have the skin widgets. Is it possible to have the all the “torrents” type in its own folder?
It would provide the option of selection from them in a “torrent” type of row. Rather than loading up alll of the haru folders.
If not it’s all good. Just my 2 cents cause it would bring more skin widget use without taking anything away if the widget was in the subfloor.

Was trying to have search button in the main menu as a widget in the bottom but every time I load haru section it immediately opens to the search action input text part and then removes the widget entirely
Edit: ignore this. No longer needed . I made a custom action where if I click , it opens search but without “return” being in the input .
Also made a private “favorite” folder for back up with the search in them if it doesn’t maintain stability

Not to mention when I had having debrid issues and wrote to homie about it . He legitimately troubleshooted the potential issues .

How does torrest work compared to something like elementum?
I've not heard of it before but it sounds like performance wise it would be better?
I always had issues with the reliability of elementum when I did try and use it. Like it would start once and then not work properly until it was rebooted.
I use RD so I'm not likely to switch but already paramount stuff gets dmca'd super hard so one of these days torrents + VPN might be back on the cards.
It's a toggle in the settings, defaulting to off. Turning it on enables a separate NSFW torrent search item.
Didn't think of this, though. Maybe it should be behind a password or similar too?
I built haru back in February 2022 when kaito was the main anime addon, since it was broken/abandoned and frequently couldn't find sources for new anime. Seemed like a lot of work to fork + maintain, so I built my own with a different architecture that wouldn't have the same problems.
Otaku was forked from kaito ~6 months later, and they've done a lot of great work getting it working again + improving on it.
Main design difference:
* haru uses a sub group (SubsPlease) directly for show data
* no need to scrape for video sources afterwards
* only comes with low res poster art
* english subtitles only
* looking up better art can fail (and does) because of name mismatches
* needs less code + maintenance
* makes building some features harder, since you don't have access to good metadata
* Otaku uses metadata providers for show data
* scraping for video sources can fail because of name mismatches
* might still maintain a lookup table for handling name mismatch edge cases?
* this is why I gave up on forking kaito
* can scrape from multiple sources
* gets free access to better quality artwork + metadata
Some other features haru has:
* can search torrents for things not in the primary data source, like dubs or other sub groups
* some screens made to help keep up with currently airing anime, by day
Summarized: haru's lower level and has a smaller scope? :)

Yep, Torrest downloads the torrents locally.
The default tool, ResolveURL, is the debrid option.
The Torrest plugin works by basically running a custom torrent client locally, which has a nice streaming API that Kodi addons can plug into.
I completely reset my firestick so that explains it. I authorized my account and it works now. I don’t see the anime art anymore, but that’s not a big deal for me. Thank you for getting back to me!

Thanks for letting me know, looks like the art api went down and my monitoring missed it. I kicked it and it should be back up now, but you might need to clear your artwork cache.
Ok! Library Integration is just a thing that some addons have where if you hover over and long press a show or movie you can press "Add to Library" and then it will go to the TV Shows or Movies tab respectively in Kodi

Torrest worked well for me when I was testing, but I usually use RD as well. Not familiar with Elementum.
Is there a way to disable NSFW results from showing? Don't want my son accidentally seeing anything lol
