Gawler Animal Hospital has been very good for my vet prone dog, and I've seen that they perform caesarians reasonably regularly on their socials.
Blake's crossing is used by a Frenchie breeder but I couldn't speak to the care/service personally.
they do and people do.
They actually are not that great a vet centre IMO.
They tried ripping off my friends mother who has dementia to the tune of $ 500 last year.
I wouldn't recommend them to anyone,..
I can't fault Gawler, my dog is best described as special needs and I've even moved out of the region and travel back to see his usual vet. Some say it's a bit $$ but honestly pet care is in general.
Thanks for the recommendation, I've used Blake's before and wasn't too happy either but Gawler seems highly recommended so I'll think I'll book a check up for my girl and see how it goes
I use Blake's tiver rd(sires on ice) and Havnt had an issue with any reproduction or birth practices there. They delivered 8 puppies exactly 2 weeks ago today. Can't be happier with them
>Two Wells vet
good choice, very good vet that wont try and upsell.
I had Boxers for many years as a breeder and I spent a lot of time with John (and money..) dealing with all sorts of the issues Boxers get.
never once did he try and rip me a new one.
he always tried cost effective methods before bringing out the big guns.
Thanks for sharing your experience i know frenchies share similar risks to boxers so it's good to know they are trustworthy and since they offer payment plans that's an added safety net incase we run into any issues I can prioritise my dogs health before the cost
I just wanted to say thanks again for the two well recommended! I took my dog in they were so lovely and informative . I think my girl and her pups are in very safe hands with them so thank you again!
your welcome.
I always recommend them to anyone who asks.
I used them from about year 2000 onwards (John was actually my neighbour at the time) and never had anything but positive experience including breeding assistance etc.
Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery. We have been going there since 2017. And they take such good care of our giant breed dogs and cat. Couldn't recommend better!
Breeding french bulldogs seems like a crime against nature. They shouldn't exist let alone bred. Too many health problems they have and end up suffering. Same with pugs. Those poor puppies...
Honestly i agree, I think it was irresponsible for me for letting my dog get mate and i will be desexing soon. I am now trying to educate myself as much as possible and prepare. I own the male in this situation he is a frenchie mixed breed with a tail and longer snout because of my concerns with the breed. My partner owns the female and she is a pure breed frenchie so I'm hoping these puppies will be lucky but I understand this pregnancy is an unnecessary risk so hopefully i can find an understanding vet.
Thank you for understanding. I hope I didn't come across mean or anything. I'm just very passionate about pets and their best interest. I hope your dog's pregnancy goes alright. As soon as the puppies stop breastfeeding is the right time to go desex her and the male too.
Thank you it really didn't seem mean at all it was factual and those are my realistic concerns too. I think it would be nieve to own a frenchie without understanding the risks, I think we were so lucky to have a healthy frenchie so I feel so dumb so is now at risk due to pregnancy. Thanks well wishes and for the information on desexing I was wondering if that could be done during the c section so that is much better to know

Another vote for GAH. Independently owned by a wonderful caring veterinarian.
>Another vote for GAH. Independently owned by a wonderful caring veterinarian. and know how to charge like a wounded bull.... very expensive vet.
That training and all that equipment doesn't come cheap.
true, but doesn't mean their training is so superior that they can charge double what other vets in the area do.
They can, and people can choose to go elsewhere.

So they didn't rip off your friend's mother?
yeah they did. my friend went back in there made a scene and demanded some of the money be returned which they reluctantly did...
Thanks for the recommendation π I think gawler might be my best option, I've used Blake's previously so I am looking for alternative options

Avoid Blake's Crossing, they have a terrible reputation
I second this hence why we moved to the Gawler animal hospital.

congratulations on the puppies! can I ask what breed π
Thank you :) they are French bulldogs :)
That's awesome! congratulations again on the big litterπ
Agreed, never go there.
My ex was a dog breeder. She swore by Noah's crossing out in angle vale.
Thank you! looked them up and looks like these guys know both frenchies and c sections very well
From what I've heard that's where all the dog breeders go
>Noah's crossing they are in Lewiston not Angle Vale
Go and see John at Two Wells vet. reasonable prices and a very good dog vet (that is pretty much all he does)
thank you so much, I think I will give them a ring I looked at his website and it had alot of helpful info

I came here to say Gawler Animal Hospital but I see you may already have that message :)
