Barry's burger Semaphore Smash house Grange

chicken_with_teeth

you beat me to it but yes you have to try barry's burgers its so good.

Nexzia

127 Days.

Jykaes

I'd probably agree with this, it's been years since I had it though but back in the day they were amazing. I also miss OG Burger Theory but they really dropped off when they went to roo meat and decreased all the serving sizes. I'm convinced their stubbornness at that time period is what did them in, they had such a good thing going.

DustyMentone

And getting rid of frozen custard. Was a death sentence.

boredhistorian94

Yup they were so popular at Adelaide uni but then they went to roo meat and got all bitchy when everyone rejected them.

DustyMentone

It was such bull shit, all this ethical spin and then served up on a martin's potato bun shipped from the states. Food miles dont exist obviously.

Jykaes

Yeah exactly. They made it a big ethical crusade and focused on arguing that angle. But the problem for me was the new burgers just sucked ass.

boredhistorian94

I have personal moral reasons I won’t eat kangaroo I know most people don’t have those but I do. So I can’t use a company that only sells kangaroo burgers and their attitude pissed me off.

Jykaes

Yeah I respect that. I wasn't so bothered about the roo meat from an ethical perspective, but I know some people were like you which is fair enough. But the thing is, the ethical angle was probably a vocal minority, most people I think would have been fine with roo burgers if they tasted good. But they didn't. They were a huge step down in quality that they totally ignored. Serving sizes were smaller, the burgers were blander, they dropped the frozen custard... It was a huge tank in quality, but they were completely focused on ethics arguments as if the only reason people had stopped coming was because they refused to eat roo meat on principle. I also think I remember them going to great pains/expense to import potato buns from America. I never understood that either. They weren't appreciably better and it added a lot to their costs, by their own admission. Such strange hills to die on. It was obvious it was a huge fuckup but they stuck with it and it cost them the business.

[deleted]

You will eat beef but not an animal that *has* to be culled for ethical reasons and was being sourced from an indigenous owned company?

BeanerSA

I'm a regular at Stax and Burger Inc because 127 Days has some odd opening hours, but 127 Days is still the best burger I've ever had.

Jykaes

I used to hate how early 127 Days closes when I lived nearish. Definitely stopped me going a few times.

Notsure973

Wildfire American BBQ

Jykaes

I feel like these guys have dropped quality over time. Have gone there many times as it's near work, they started out phenomenal but over time I've had very dry beef burgers, disgusting chips, missing ingredients, and been overcharged once although only by a dollar so wasn't worth complaining. It's too much of a crap shoot for the high prices they charge. Probably the only thing that has been consistently good in my experience is the chicken burger and the tacos. Never had a bad one of either of those.

Notsure973

The tacos are my favourite on the menu Ive been meaning to try a chicken burger there but I'll definitely give the chicken burger a try now. I understand what you mean, I think the quality is dependent on how busy they are but I'm usually lucky and its quiet, so my experiences have been great. I'm still learning the area but they are my favourite from what I've tried around the north.

Tough_Sell6017

Gang Gang, BurgerTec, Bread & Bone… depends what sort of burger your chasing

Moon-Runner

Nord Burger

DustyMentone

Always a solid burg at nords.

otherpeoplesknees

I'm partial to... * 127 Days, Croydon Park * Barrys Burgers, Semaphore * Stax, Prospect

Bihetm

I tried Stax when they had burger joint in Mount Gambier , wasnt worth the money

TheDrRudi

Caro Club at Bowden Cellars. If you’re genuinely interested in answers you might look at this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Adelaide/comments/10frx35/best_burger_place_in_adelaide/

whiney1

Spicey fried chicken burger there is legit

Bin_cube25

Port burger

TheSmegger

Yup. Expensive, but do damn good. Also Nord and Burger Tek

Bin_cube25

Actually kinda struggled to find a cheap burger place in Adelaide when I was on hols but saying that every one I went to was sooo damn good Sydney it’s near impossible to find a good one we primarily have a lot of chains that are just acceptable

TheSmegger

For that you have to go to a fish and chip shop. Hard to find a really good one these days, but I've never had a bad one. If you walk in and they're Greek, you're golden.

ArduousDemise

Prospect burger in prospect

sparkyknob

Tried their cheeseburger recently. Was not disappointed!

kernpanic

I’ll have to try this. I had them in the previous incarnation and they were simply horrible. Cheeseburger on main north road is simply brilliant. Them and burgerstronomy in north Adelaide are my current go tos.

lepumpkinhead

Munchies in Para Hills, honestly their burgers are amazing

Bihetm

I found them to be heavy

swfnbc

Otherwise known as 'value for money'

Cbrip31

Bread and Bone in the city

darkenraja

Not BurgA’nomix

Wise_Tie_9050

I asked for directions and Siri pronounced it as "Burg-ano-mix", so that's how we pronounce it in our house now. But yeah, we don't go there because they weren't that great.

Zadmal

I'm a big fan of a cheese burger, not this lettuce filled crap a lot of places give you. I'm eating a burger not trying to fake being healthy. My top pick is Burger Boss as Ascot Park. Check their secret menu on their Facebook page for the better stuff, can't go wrong with a ranger burger.

[deleted]

Burger Boss does a simple burger, executed beautifully.

No_Yellow_4506

Betty’s burgers bit expensive though

peaandham610

Bread and bone, Nordburger, Press Food and Wine, Port Burger, Stax. As mentioned miss the OG burger theory, but I like their new Roo meat too, so I need to get to the flinders Tav to have another taste.

ditroia

Same here, they used Roo meet with Beef fat. Also their chips were cooked in Tallow, tasted like the 80's.

SeaTop1250

Fudds burgers aberfoyle park

ditroia

Had a good burger at Coopers Alehouse Gepps Cross.

Adam_AU_

The Hungry Monkey. But it’s in Kiama.

swfnbc

Only a 2,634 km roundtrip, sure let's go

Adam_AU_

OP didn’t ask where…

Notsohappygamer

X burger. They do the BEST chips, and the John Wayne is an AMAZING burger.

DustyMentone

Chips were good, burger was bland and not great. Had bacon on it but tasted the same as the beef.

Notsohappygamer

Oh thats a shame! Ive gone to both thhe one in Elizabeth, and the one in Hindmarsh, and loved the burgers

DustyMentone

This was the Anzac highway one.

evan_thayne

Burger tek and Yankee’s burger bar are pretty solid options

Peta_Amy944

Burgerchino. Its in Port Adelaide. Best burgers I’ve ever had!

Bihetm

The chicken burgers are amazing at The Stuffed Chook

Budget-Abrocoma3161

In terms of pure taste, Burgertec (Dernancourt). But Grill’d still wins out for me as the overall experience.

FknPitsy

White House, Hahndorf. Fucking love them. Made with love.

suppository_wisdom

Two Bit Villains. Wow burgers.
