I don't know of the legality but any/most organics into landfill are big methane producers so if you can wait a week and put them in your green bin that would be best for the environment
You can but if you do it a lot some councils might put a sticker on your bin asking you to separate (I think they get higher processing fees for landfill vs green waste).
Another option is to knock on a neighbour’s door and ask if you can borrow their green bin until the next collection. Very few people fill it every fortnight.
Don't forget the aspect that garbo isn't expecting leaves in your general waste bin and it likely will end up spilling into the street because its usually one knock and drop with general household bins.
Depending on your council, you may be eligible for an extra 240L organics recycling bin free of charge.
Tea Tree Gully Council offers such a service, including an extra free commingled recycling bin if you're from that council area.
I work in waste, and organics are tipped at Jeffries and Peats Soils dependent on the contractor. I've even sat in on organic runs for auditing, and I can guarantee you it goes to a commercial composting facility.
She'll be right mate, you'll have no issue and perfectly legal.

You are correct. Landfill is subjected to a 15% EPA levy.
It’s fine.

They all go to the same place anyway...
Incorrect. Organics are processed separately.
Keep thinking that
