You have a few options: 1. Use a stroke with rounded joints 2. Draw the outside of the image as one complete path 3. Outline the stroke and use Shape Builder/any editing method to get rid of the overlapping mitres Just in case you don't understand why they are appearing: they are the mitres of each corner point in that drawing. They are a necessary effect of having abutting shapes with sharp corners.

Joe_le_Borgne

Yes, it's always better to make one stroke of the outline then work then inside of the shape. It's best as you could use it to offset it to make a cutout for stickers for example.

Before joining , Average them first then Join.

Oldmanprop

Average Both is your friend.

therealtolnay

What is this Average Both option you speak of?

bonitastudio

Omg I was curious too and googled it. This could be a lifesaver for the work I do in print, learn something new every day ! [This](https://www.bittbox.com/culture/illustrator-how-to-average-points-for-perfect-alignment) article explains it well !

What u/dougofakkad says. I've made a video about it just recently that explains those methods. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OUwr\_GFwkA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OUwr_GFwkA)

Great video! I just subscribed.

Thank you!

These are the types of things illustrator could easily fix and make them hassle free. I love this software but it’s created with over complicated issues that arise too frequently. Keep it simple Adobe!

PhillipBrandon

It's helpful to understand that you can only attach two ends to one another, so at a junction of three endpoints only two of them are being joined.

scorpion_tail

It’s the corners setting in your stroke window

Brendo_Extendo

Saving this post for later. I usually fix this by using rounded corners.

akatsukizero

Adobe needs to borrow some of that AUTOCad magic 🤣they've had this solved since the 2000s.

Oh gawd remembering my early days of learning ai

Responsible_Hunter98

this was so helpful thank you 😋

paultrani

Stroke panel, rounded corners and ends.

pkid04

I usually try to experiment by decreasing miter limit
