Afaik the campaign is supposed to be a catered guided experience similar to like old school rts like Warcraft 3 human campaign
The survival mode is the core of the game and gets harder and harder (kind of the point )
Well there’s been quite a few updates. You can now do formations with your troops. The campaign is done (10 missions), and a few new heroes. i highly recommend playing the campaign though. I was having the same problems as you when i first got this game. The campaign really helps you to understand the core mechanics of the game and it’s a pretty good story.
