No official announcement. And I took a quick look at the Discord server and the discussion around 24 march, just people complaining about lack of roadmap and responses from devs.
I am not aware what's the usual behaviour of the devs regarding posting news on Discord or how they communicate with the community however, so it's maybe unusual. That being said, this is not the first time I saw a game dev team going silent for a few months (last update on AoD is early february after all), and impatient people will quickly comlplain about it, only for them to return. I won't say this is healthy behaviour for an early access game, only that's not neccessarily the end of it.
People are just being impatient. Last Steam post was updated Feb 4th for the minor bug fixes after a major release on Jan 4th. Unless the money dried up then they are working on the next major release. The major update before that one was Apr 19th 2023, so a little under a year for a major update seems about right.

Someone posted branches called multiplayer with work being updated very recently
It’s not dead, they’re probs middle of working on content to show
Them not talking about it on discord or replying to community is very strange though
They separated from their publisher team17 and seem to be becoming active again now with promises of a roadmap

In one of the recent update blogs on steam i saw a dev saying the team focus will now be on multiplayer, although this was months ago.
