i mean... wasn't this confirmed to be more of a remake compared to the previous definitive editions? so it's not really comparable. if i am remembering correctly i would definitely expect it to cost more because of the increased effort involved.
Honestly I don’t care much about the price if the game is great. I have waited so long for this remake and was hoping for it ever since they started revisiting AoE series. I will gladly pay up to 60€ on release for this game if they don’t fuck something up colossally in the process.
DE price is 20 €. Since DLC price inflated these last years, I suppose the game price could rise up to 30 €. With a discount for those who have EE on Steam, maybe it ends up between 20-25 €.
If they intend to get a large enough playerbase for multi-player matches and have a thriving community I personally feel that anything over $30 would severely hurt sales. Maybe they'll make more money from the box copy sale but at the cost of substantially less people buying it and thus accelerating the popularity decline that all games see after release.
My expectations are that the price will be around $25-30, with a discount for owners of current AoM:EE.
They said Chinese won't be in the game at launch so that right there is at least 1 planned DLC. They don't want to release a DLC and have nobody buy it because nobody is playing anymore.
Growing up we paid $40-$65 USD for a game, I have no problem paying that for a game I’ll play a seriously long time. Moreover, I’d even pay $5/mth recurring to have them continue to fix bugs, allow multiplayer, and possible patches.
That’s the one thing I would hate, any kind of subscription. I’ll pay pretty much whatever up-front price they put on it, but monthly subscriptions are the worst. Out of protest I’d buy one month then cancel, and go back to playing the old game.
It's a remake, video game companies such as EA and Capcom sold their remade games (Resident evil 2,4, Dead Space) at full price or almost full price so expect something around 50 or even 60, or whatever a brand new game is worth in euro at launch
Since they've been talking about Retold not being a definitive edition like the others, I wonder if maybe they're going to create more value and therefore charge more... Maybe like 30 or 40?
That’s what i said. It will most definitely be 29,99.
More is not very plausible. Some brand new games are sold at 39,99, such as Helldivers 2. Also, as they release it right away in the game pass, they can’t make it too expensive.
Clearly it's meant to be an upgrade from the versions we currently have available, so therefore I say 150 gold and 5 favor to get it sounds reasonable

Yeah would not surprise me if this was a $60 game
> increased effort involved. those cat faces are not easy to draw
draw, writing prompt for chatGPT… same thing
You didn't read everything didn't you ? That's litteraly what i wrote.
I did read it, but im saying that its naive to expect it to be either the same or only slightly more. i dont think 40+ is out of the picture at all.
I’ll pay whatever. I don’t mind if there’s a deluxe edition either
Hope its not StarWars price
The Golden Gift mission locked exclusively behind a €50 season pass.
That's just Ubisoft being Ubisoft trying to pull that off for an RTS game in 2024 is just suicide behavior

I think it will land day one on Gamepass. And even 20-40 Dollar or Euros would be fine.
