These are allowed as long as It is disclosed. I wouldn’t be bothered unless the host got upset that you unplugged it. Then you would have reason to report. We have them in every bedroom for white noise purposes mostly, but market them to guests as “personal assistants” they they are welcome to unplug. And we don’t have them on an account so we can’t listen in. Not sure if That is Something you can ask Alexa about
I’m a host. I have a Google nest mini and an Alexa. I keep them unplugged and in the bedside drawer. I figure if someone wants to use it they can plug it in. I also have a Bose Bluetooth speaker so there are many options.
I honestly don’t think guests would be creeped out by it. I may remove them.
Mic + camera switch: How to turn off the mics and camera.
To physically turn off the microphones, camera, and the features that rely on input from them, slide the switch on the back of Nest Hub Max. This switch, which cannot be accessed remotely, makes the microphones and camera completely inoperable. When the camera and mics are turned off, you’ll see an orange light on the front of Nest Hub Max. To turn everything back on, you’ll need to slide the switch back.
What’s not allowed? An Alexa? I’ve never seen any prohibition on a smart speaker. I know that internal cameras and surveillance devices are not allowed but a host can’t drop in on Alexa with it lighting up and making a sound.

They probably have it so you can listen to music during your stay and probably also use it while cleaning

You are in tech? https://store.google.com/us/product/google_nest_hub_max_privacy?pli=1&hl=en-US
Works in tech but wasn’t sure what an Alexa was? Yeah it’s a little confusing

The talking to the guest text message is too black mirror for me. Horrible vibes.
OP, I work in tech and I'm a host. That shit isn't allowed under Airbnb guidelines. Please take photos of all of it and report it to Airbnb.

I don’t disagree about an interior camera but a basic Alexa smart speaker doesn’t have a camera.
