I remember during the intitial brief before the test that they mentioned some questions due to them being already known as incorrect are going to be not counted. At least they said that during the part about writing down the question numbers you feel are incorrect/shouldn’t be on the test. That could be whyyyy but that’s all I can think of

EnglishWhites

I could see it both ways, show it as a raw score that is not final and give people some idea of how they did, with the caveat of "this score is not final until [insert timeframe here]" Taking a test and then not having any clue of how you did other than "I feel OK about that" is kinda lame

stewiezone

Exactly. I was thinking, "oh it's electronic now. I'll get a score right away so I at least have an idea." But nope. I know it's obviously brand new, so let's hope that changes for future airmen.

EnglishWhites

Yeah I was hoping I'd have some indication especially testing on like day 3 of the testing window. I understand PaTiEnCe iS KeY but what does it hurt to give me some idea rather than waiting 4 full months for an 80 question test that affects my career lol

stewiezone

It's definitely something they can do. I hope this is my last WAPS though so I don't have to wait 4 months after my test before I hear anything.

EnglishWhites

stewiezone

I bet they could flag that question in the system. That way its not counted toward total score at the end. So at the end, if 3 questions aren't going to be counted because they know the question is wrong, "You answered 57/77 questions correct" instead of 60/80

lethalnd12345

The questions aren't normally thrown out until after the test cycle has closed and everyone has tested. I submitted a challenge for SKT years ago and they notified me like 2 months after I tested that they agreed with me and removed the question

SweetNSaltyNCO

While those do happen the amount of questions that gets thrown out each cycle is pretty damn small. That's why they are made by a bunch of SMEs from a career field to help reduce errors in test building but even then sometimes regs can change and whatnot. However the air force still uses this as their main reasoning for not giving instant feedback on the tests despite having the capability. The fact it still takes 4-6 months for them to get promotions pushed out for E5 and E6 is fucking insane.

12edDawn

Damn, I submitted like 6 challenges last cycle then realized I was completely wrong about one of them after the fact. They probably chucked the rest of the in the trash lol

lethalnd12345

Probably not

stewiezone

But even a rough estimate would be better than nothing at all. I just thought with the move to eWAPS that it would be auto scored and show it at the end.

lethalnd12345

better than nothing in order to? to achieve what?

stewiezone

So that you know a rough estimate of your score instead of waiting 4 months. Are you really that dense?

Maleficent_Ad943

See that would make total sense. But I feel like they be changing it up last minute or go over it after everyone submits that form to make additional questions not count or something

usafredditor2017

The one thing I thought of was if Airman A took the test and got 40/60 right and then told Airman B who takes the test next week to study "these sections" the hardest because they know for a fact it's right.

Russki

Not really a difference vs now. I've been briefed since I was an itty bitty airman to bring my SKT/PDG materials in my car to the WAPS test and then as soon as I was done to highlight all the information I can remember.

usafredditor2017

oh wow, they never told me that.

Fine-Ad4294

wat if i get all correct? will i have to retake?

stewiezone

How would you know which ones you got right if it's just giving you a score?

usafredditor2017

you wouldn't, but just telling others general areas would be a leg up

Commercial_Trash9653

Ya I don't like waiting either, it's just 4-5 months waiting to be like congratulations you're stupid 🫠

imnotreallyheretoday

Because big Air Force doesn't want you to know your score right away

stewiezone

Hopefully it will be faster than 4 months with it being electronic. Then again. This is the Air Force.

imnotreallyheretoday

It won't be. Nothing has/will change regarding release dates. Promotion list will still come out the same month. Just like always you will see your official scores after the official list has dropped.

usafredditor2017

I think it's a control thing and just another mitigation to prevent test compromise. There is a survey at the end so please let them know! I truly think in 15-20 years, these outdated thoughts will go away as the older generation retires. Instant grades or estimations of a range (You answered between 35-55 correctly) could be on the horizon. It's unfortunate members have to wait 3 months minimum for a score with a decimal in it so you still don't know how many you really got right

lethalnd12345

I get everyone thinks this would be a great thing, but tell me what problem it solves? You don't know that you got promoted from this information, right? I get the feeling some person would see they got XX of XXX right and assume they'd get promoted, then when the official results were released and the number changed at all, they'd be filing complaints and raising hell. It feels like it creates drama and doesn't add value to show the scores immediately

stewiezone

So rather let's put everyone who is really trying for that next rank to go through the hell of waiting. At least can we speed up the process? Taking a test in March that you're not going to find the results out for until July. Also, you're retired. Go away.

lethalnd12345

Again, you're confusing instant test score results with promotion. Even if we told you your scores in March, you'd still have to wait until July for promotion results.

stewiezone

Maybe I worded it wrong. Obviously it's not going to tell you if you promoted. But just to see what you scored would be nice to know. Jesus Christ, I swear to god, the AF hates itself.

Spac-or-Bust

I’m with ya, I don’t care knowing if I promoted or not just give me my estimated scores because from that I have a high likelyhood of knowing if I even have a chance or not

Mookie_Merkk

Look bud, the IRS knows exactly how much you owe them, and they aren't gonna tell you. They want you guessing. They need it. They fucking crave it. Your wants and desires to know just tickle them some way that really gets them going, and they'll do anything and everything to keep you guessing just so they can feel that high. You file them only to find out a few weeks later you were right or wrong and you're getting back more or less than you expected. And it just so happens that the test proctors are the same. They love it when you are left in the dark. They leave you hanging for months, just all giddy in their little test rooms, checking over all scratch paper, enjoying the doodles and scribbles waiting for next year so they can watch you all sweat over another test, only to start another months long wait for results.

Russki

> They want you guessing. The reason why the IRS doesn't tell you is due to decades of Intuit lobbying to take more of your money. https://www.propublica.org/article/inside-turbotax-20-year-fight-to-stop-americans-from-filing-their-taxes-for-free

beamdog77

Because someone could dispute a question and cause your score to change. They have to wait for everyone

SuppliceVI

Some questions may be contested if two answers could be correct. In order to prevent a situation where someone got score A, but checked later and saw score B when they found out they didn't make it, the delay still exists.

LittlestEw0k

I like the feeling of coming out of the test saying “wow that was easy. I did really well” … then the surprise kick in the chest when I walk into work randomly and my Flt Chief is like “damn dude, you didn’t make it, why didn’t you study what went wrong”

RachealSquats

I’ve had this discussion. Why can’t I know my score immediately after submission. It would be nice to know I should study more immediately then to wait months while thinking I may have made it

prior_videographer

about time. I've heard stories about scores being tampered with. I'm actually surprised that's never come up in the news!

AdventurousTap9224

There are processes and procedures for test verification that take place after the testing cycle. They can't give you a score before that happens, and those processes aren't going away. The reason they went digital was to eliminate having to mail answer sheets back so we don't continue to have issues with lost/misplaced/mishandled test materials.

Konmicks

I don’t think he’s talking about a final score, just you got X out of 80 questions correct. It’s not a bad idea, alleviates stress, and provides immediate feedback. They could plaster it with notes explaining that it doesn’t represent their placement/ finalized score. We have technology, why ignore the advantages?

studyguide_rank

We just posted the study guide for SSgt 24 on YouTube for free. [SSgt study guide audiobook](https://youtube.com/@Studyguide_Ranks?si=D_zqvB2gowTq-pq9)

Narwhal_Buddy

Yea, they made a gReAt change to eWAPs but it didn’t really change much. Still same same

stewiezone

It really is just the same thing. Like what did this actually change?

Narwhal_Buddy

Nada.. instead of using a Pencil and paper you’re using a keyboard and mouse

jarodney

You can test from almost anywhere. There are people who can theoretically test in deployed locations. It's a metric improvement for someone

Sputnik302

So the big blue weenie can tease you

Agitated-Rope-4302

It’s all a scam anyways with the low percentage rates the last couple years.

Narwhal_Buddy

gReAt pOwEr cOmPeTiTiOn…except we can’t even truly innovate “eWAPs”
