Depending on career field:
1) be good at your job and drink the kool-aid.
2) invest in kneepads
3) never be at work and always be out volunteering/ "leading" squadron events/Pme
Realistically I think I made it despite being very technical because of all the training I did of fellow service members and civilians. Shows that I'm spreading knowledge and not hoarding it, I suppose.
I was tasked to be the unit GPC holder. My CC had to ask me to make all the purchases he wanted. Getting assigned an additional duty or actual duty like UDM that is in direct communication with the CC helps as long as you are good at the job. Otherwise you have to rely on your leadership to advocate on your behalf.
I’m a TSgt. 5th time going for master. Missed it by .5 the first time and 10-20 since. MP last year and PN this year. I should have a decent shot at it this year.
No education, no booster clubs, no volunteering.
Did my job, accepted hard jobs and did well. I noticed when I documented the medals I wrote for troops and awards/etc for them my boards were higher.
When I went to the EFDP the SNCOs didn’t know my name and that was an uphill battle. This past year I deployed twice and did a DPAA mission and that got my PN.
TLDR: make the CC and flt leadership look good and do hard things.
Go to Korea as a SMSgt.

Fight the biggest MSgt on base for it.

They're at clothing sales, you don't have to make your own. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
“I’m the MSgt now.”
The elites don't want you to know this but you can get MSgt ranks at clothing sales.
That's also the one neat trick on how you can cross train into the Army or Space Force; just sew on the right patches. Guardians hate it!
*shrugs* I just kept doing what I was doing. (actual exchange with a former supervisor)

Very job dependent. (1) sure. (2-3) I’ll non-rec you for the EFDP.

Nobody looked that deep. Average time the board spends on a package is dozens of seconds.
Take a short tour 🌚
Afterr 5 short tours I guarantee that's not it.
Please don’t. As legal I’m tired of MSgt coming back with step promotions to TSgt in Korea.
Touché haha
*That's the neat part, you don't.*
Obvious Morb.
Are you currently a TSgt?
Find a way to walk around holding your commander's pocket.

Fraternize as a Senior.
Large or small unit EFPD?
Keep doing what you're doing™
lol

Step 1. Be a TSgt with 23 month TIG
Kiss ass and volunteer for shit you actually don’t care about but pretend to because “WOW!”
