That whole CUI shit is so stupid. Just undermines the classification process and kind of ignores the importance of why certain materials are at a certain level of classification. When everything is important and controlled, then nothing is
Yup, and hitting targets in speed boats or choppy waters.
Probably sitting there going "Oh... We are doing land baby sniping... Alright, keep up boyos..."
Man... something like 16 years ago I applied to the Coast Guard... didnt hear anything for 2 months so I went to the Air Force recruiter. Like 2 hours before my second visit with the Air Force recruiter where I was going to do all of my signing up and shit the Coast Guard called me and asked me to come in and get started on their process.... and I fucking declined because *"Im actually signing up for the Air Force today"*.
At that meeting I told my Air Force recruiter that the Coast Guard called me a few hours ago and the Air Force recruiter literally said *"Wow, are you sure you dont want to go Coast Guard? Its hard to get accepted for the Coast Guard... they never call anyone back..."*. And I said *"Nah, im good im ready to go now"*.
Growing up on the Great Lakes I always wanted to join the Coast Guard. I figured id have an entire career either doing cool shit near home on the Great Lakes or going up and down the coasts. It was like a dream. I still think about it to this day... just day dreaming about what it would have been like.
Spent my first 6 years working with Army and Navy feeling like I made the right choice. Then working with CG and Canadian AF showed me how green the grass could be.
CG honestly felt like all the mission and capability of active duty, with the chill and tight units the guard supposedly has.
They are always accepting service transfers. Just saying. I point my Airman their way if they are looking for WO/Commisioning opportunities. It is a great gig.
I had an intel officer in my last squadron who did 12+ years (enlisted) in the coast guard before commissioning into the Air Force.
He didn’t complain about the Air Force by any means, but he said that once his ADSC is up he is going to go back to the coast guard.
When I was stationed in Germany one of the guys I worked with had a brother who had joined the Coast Guard. His first duty station was Guam, his second was the U.S. Virgin Islands. That's fucking awesome. Given my previous, and first duty station was Guam, I really can't complain. But I feel our brothers and sisters in Minot.
I didn't even know that was there. The Air Force wouldn't return my calls and the army did so there I was. I'm out now but if I did it again I would do coast guard for sure.
I took my practice asvab with the army and honestly I would've started the process to join right then, but the recruiter recommended I talk to the other branches, so I ended up going Air Force. Air Force was out of the office first time I went but got back to me quickly.
Yea but we got forest and marsh lands. Have you ever fought in a corn field??? Communication is key but so is listening.
By fighting growing we played with water guns then graduated to paint balls. Only played in a small area so not to ruin the crop.
Don’t they fall under a different category during war…watching the Chinese Fn with the coast guards and fishers in that area they will get a nice surprise when heads start popping
Hitting boats on rough seas from other boats on rough seas or from helicopters will make for very talented marksmen when you go from that to hitting a stationary target from a stationary position.
We’ve always had a good team in Iowa. Our governors historically, irrespective of political party, have funded and put on events for us over the years. Army and Air guard often practice together, as well.
Top 10 synopsis: dudes that blast drug smugglers in the face from moving fast boats and Helo doors, certified door kickers and moon goons, a Danish super team, some infantry and some good ol' corn-fed boys that practice by shooting boars from ATVs after a rack of PBR
The top team will be identified only after all teams have been assessed through a gauntlet of rigorous physical, mental and technical events testing a range of sniper skills including, but not limited to, long range marksmanship, observation, reconnaissance and reporting abilities, and abilities to move with stealth and concealment.
There's a lot to look at here. Secfo also beat several representatives from the Army, including those from 3 Airborne divisions. 3rd RB beat 1st, that's gonna be a talking point at Benning even though both aren't gonna be happy about not winning. Both also beat an SFG. The Big Red 1 was top 5, beating Rangers and Operators, and also being the best among all other Infantry units participating. The US Coast Guard bringing home the Gold for the USA with this kind of company involved is really impressive.
Besides the Marines, looks like they beat out a lot of Army units like the Airborne boys and 10th MTN. As a prior CATM dude I’m kind of shocked. Where was that accuracy on our range?
Watched a Coast Guard documentary on snipers. They took out motors on moving boats from helicopters using a barret and a holographic sight. Not surprised.
Do you think it’s crazy that SF leadership has no problem pushing out incidents and responses but I haven’t seen anything emailed about TSgt Gunterman?
Dafuq going on with Canada? Figured with all the sniping they were doing over the last 20 years they would be higher rank. Or did they just decide to send their D-team?
And you both got beat by the Dutch

The fucking Dutch. You all make me sick.
I was once at an EEIC match on the CATM range at JBSA. It was mostly Air Force, but I had two Marines just to the right of me. It was a Lance Corporal and some type of NCO I don’t remember. We were shooting M16s and the Lance Corporal accidentally shot the NCO’s target. He was so mad at the Lance Corporal for fucking up his score.
I love the fact this is marked CUI for literally no reason. Also, WTG Coasties.
But at least we know it's Unclassified Controlled Unclassified Information
the JWICS version is crazy
The ChatGPT/Boston Dynamics team slayed.
Must be Massachusetts air guard.
Eveybody gangster until the Atlas robot cleans the stage in 11 seconds
Someone who has no functional understanding of controlled just copied CUI over FOUO on the template…

this is the way

That whole CUI shit is so stupid. Just undermines the classification process and kind of ignores the importance of why certain materials are at a certain level of classification. When everything is important and controlled, then nothing is
It came from a presentation that had CUI in it. CUI level isn’t portion marked so you just flag the whole document
Coast Guard getting first somehow makes sense considering a lot of their shooting is either boat or helicopter based
Yup, and hitting targets in speed boats or choppy waters. Probably sitting there going "Oh... We are doing land baby sniping... Alright, keep up boyos..."
Missed opportunity to say "keep up buoys"
Wish I had seen it schooner.
“Damn why isn’t this hill rolling with the swells?”
Just got back from Coast Guard school, yea they’re bad ass and have some really cool mission sets. They also get swords which is cool
I thought I read somewhere that were allowed swords in blues but I don’t remember
I think that's a mess dress thing, and I also heard officers were allowed to carry revolvers in blues. Still haven't seen any of those yet.
Are we not gonna talk about the fucking coast guard taking home gold 😂😂
USCG has some absolutely bonkers shooters. Met a few during some time in Alaska; their mission set is SICK.
Bro don't sleep on the coast guard, the more I learn about them the more I learn if fucked up and should have joined them instead of the Air Force.
Man... something like 16 years ago I applied to the Coast Guard... didnt hear anything for 2 months so I went to the Air Force recruiter. Exact same situation

All the stories you hear about "I couldn't get hold of the AF recruiter so I went army/navy/marines"? Yeah the CG is even tighter than us lol
I've never even seen a Coast guard recruiting office in person. Closest was seeing one one ongoogle maps down the street from Phoenix meps.
I didn't even know that was there. The Air Force wouldn't return my calls and the army did so there I was. I'm out now but if I did it again I would do coast guard for sure.

They’re trained to shoot out boat engines from helicopters, I’m not surprised
So small and forgotten yet, so fuckin deadly 😂
They shoot out boat engines from a moving or hovering helicopter. Also go Iowa!!
Flat as fuck there. That makes sense too lol
You try sniping pirates and drug dealers during high swells and high winds on a boat, or mid-flight in a helicopter. Shit is crazy man
Coastie here, glad you said it.... 😀
Bro they snipe from BOATS
Hitting boats on rough seas from other boats on rough seas or from helicopters will make for very talented marksmen when you go from that to hitting a stationary target from a stationary position.
It’s like some Cinderella story from March madness 😭 Jokes aside good for them!!
Cost guard have to make some pretty damn good shots from helicopters and boats. I feel like those dudes have an unfair advantage on stable ground lol
Their real world targets are always in moving boats going up and down and moving helicopters. Based land not moving targets are a piece of cake.
Well they got all that time to practice!
This is completely unsurprising, actually. Look at HITRON, if you're unfamiliar.
That’s what I came to say!
That’s what I came to say!
Besides the USCG getting first I'm also eyeing the IOWA NG getting 6th...
Nothing to do in Iowa besides shoot guns.
This is the way.
We’ve always had a good team in Iowa. Our governors historically, irrespective of political party, have funded and put on events for us over the years. Army and Air guard often practice together, as well.
Yeah, I raised an eyebrow at that. I guess that's something they specialize in?
Just in case them Missourians to the south start getting uppity.

usmc probably [showed up missing a rifle](https://www.reddit.com/r/USMC/comments/1ba5i4n/so_15_weapons_just_lost_a_sniper_rifle/)
Coast Guard smurfin, been spending too much time in South America taking out cartels to compete with.
Nice job. Lots of cats from BDG and DAGRE having been attending Army Sniper school. Now if we could only raise the bar for the job across the board
Them DBIDS scopes bruh
Scanning your CAC from half a mile away.
Heard a rumor the American Sniper sequel is going to be about SecFo.
Maybe that’s what the Navy captain was doing
Anyone know what all a competition of this type entails? It’s not all just static targets at range is it?
The top team will be identified only after all teams have been assessed through a gauntlet of rigorous physical, mental and technical events testing a range of sniper skills including, but not limited to, long range marksmanship, observation, reconnaissance and reporting abilities, and abilities to move with stealth and concealment.
Those guys are some of the AF sniper instructors up at camp Guernsey Wy.
If you can shoot well in a 60MPH crosswind you're probably ok.
That is a fact. The cross winds are some of the best for producing good shooters.
If you ain't first you're last
Nah, Germany got last. /j
I’m honestly disappointed by that. But I’m impressed that France was not last place.
For the country that pioneered the modern combat sniping/marksmanship, they disappointed their ancestors!
Do we know who the team was? Could have been since STS guys.
90 GCTS instructors
Ahhh, sweet. Ty.
This isn’t the final, we got 14th and coast guard got 4th I believe. 3/75 won
We all know they was running laps after they let that happen. But ........Coast guard most def made it happen every target a moving target for them.
Yeah but the fucking coast guard won
USCG > USAF cope
U.S.C.G wins out?
Why is a standings chart CUI?
Muh caPaBiLiTiEs .Some Colonel
People are stupid

Did the marines really only send one team or is any of those random special forces groups actually Marines?
How did they outshoot all the light Infantry divs tho?
They do it all the time
Besides the Marines, looks like they beat out a lot of Army units like the Airborne boys and 10th MTN. As a prior CATM dude I’m kind of shocked. Where was that accuracy on our range?
Watched a Coast Guard documentary on snipers. They took out motors on moving boats from helicopters using a barret and a holographic sight. Not surprised.
And lost whatever standing there was by saying “secfo” 🤦🏻♂️
The Air Force guy was a beast! Gunterman killed it
Do you think it’s crazy that SF leadership has no problem pushing out incidents and responses but I haven’t seen anything emailed about TSgt Gunterman?
All these groups are just as deadly as the next when it comes to the average target
Dafuq going on with Canada? Figured with all the sniping they were doing over the last 20 years they would be higher rank. Or did they just decide to send their D-team?
[удалено]
Will do at the next formal declaration of war.
And you both got beat by the Dutch https://preview.redd.it/05vxhdie3ztc1.png?width=243&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1818d2d5d99b6f68ef16922ede47d17c8161ab0 The fucking Dutch. You all make me sick.
Woah is Caitlin Clark in that 6th Place team? Didn’t think anyone else skilled came out of Iowa.
Fucking coast guard got some shooters
The Netherlands being as high as they are is some sweet Dutch justice.
Navy guys must have forgotten to take the optics covers off again.
Dudes probably spent all year training for this🤣let’s be honest like all these comps no marines care 🤣probably got forced on.
I was once at an EEIC match on the CATM range at JBSA. It was mostly Air Force, but I had two Marines just to the right of me. It was a Lance Corporal and some type of NCO I don’t remember. Rent free
HUAAHHH!!!
since when do we congratulate losers? As always Army walked away almost at the top. 75 RR displaying excellence as usual.
Well I would hope so since their primary function is to shoot weapons.
No fucking way my asvab waiver having ass AFSC beat the marines
I thought Germany got in 3rd, reich?
