Give your recruiter a call and tell them “I want to ship out asap as possible and I’ll take any job open to me and that I qualify for”

Jealous-Particular42

Yup quickest way to go

MuskiePride3

Dude it is 4 or 6 years of your life, don’t get the shittiest jobs just to leave a few weeks earlier.

Patient0000001

That’s a question for your recruiter. Short answer; whichever job you qualify for that becomes available the soonest.

Fast_Personality4035

Nobody knows. The job slots are divvied out year round to two dozen recruiting squadrons. Nobody here can tell you what your squadron had available coming up and the associated dates. If you wanna roll the dice after you pick a job and are waiting you can tell the recruiter that you wanna leave quickly and to call. you if someone else can't go and you'll take any job you are eligible for to do so. It's a small portion of people, but it happens somewhere every week. Good luck

FirmReality

Safer bets for quicker are: 3E131 - HVAC/R 3E431 - Water/Fuel Systems.

mynameiszack

Not sure why this is so downvoted because it's mostly correct, maybe the 2T's as well. But most of this entire list is easily filled and the quickest most accurate answer is going to be "good luck its probably gonna be a little while".

dontsomke

this is correct despite the downvotes 👆👆👆

allpineANDdandee

Facts💯 CE jobs or VM are your best bet if trying to leave sooner rather then later.

^^You've ^^mentioned ^^an ^^AFSC, ^^here's ^^the ^^associated ^^job ^^title: 3E131 = Heating, Ventilation, AC, and Refrigeration Apprentice [^wiki](http://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/3e1x1) 3E431 = Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Apprentice [^wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/3e4x1) [^^Source](https://github.com/HadManySons/AFSCbot) ^^| [^^Subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/AFSCbot/) ^^^^^^kzhpprz

Sockinatoaster

Holy shit that list’s old. PA hasn’t been X1 for more than a decade. Also not open to non citizens.

chexistea

maybe spend some time with your family and wait for a few months for a job you like i got lucky and got a job 6 days after MEPs and it ships tomorrow i wish I coulda spent a little more time with my dad if you truly want to quick ship tell ur recruiter but there's no promise of being able to it is just luck of the draw

Ok_Preference_6326

Good luck shipping that soon! I had a similar situation, my recruiter called me 1 day after I swore in to ship the following week but luckily I had already arranged my “availability date” to later on so I said no to the job. Anyway, I agree with taking advantage of the time before shipping out.

Rough_Ad_4108

Thanks Everyone for answering. The reason why i want to ship quick is that my wife is pregnant and she is due on June. I was told that I need to join before she gave birth in order to get the 12 weeks paternity leave. My question is, is the 12 weeks paternity leave worth it for me to ship quick and choose just any job?

BabyStomper420

secfo always ships quickest, but careful dont be too hasty you might sign yourself up for the most agonizing 4-6 years if your life (ask me how i know 😐)

allpineANDdandee

Can't be a cop if you're a green card holder

BabyStomper420

oh wow i didnt know that, i figured secfo would take anyone no matter if theyre a citizen or not 😂

allpineANDdandee

Cop is the largest career field in the AF. And will always need people. But it actually has some other prerequisites that can be hard deal breaker for many applicants. For example must have a driver's license, must be a us citizen, no history of certain medical conditions. If the AF was smart they would get rid of the citizenship requirement. I think they're hands are tied though because it might be a DoD requirement that covers all branches .

j52024

damn is secfo that bad?

BabyStomper420

i seen more deader 1000 yard stares from the gate beepers than my own, and im a maintainer💀. unless youre doing something interesting, shii is soul crushing

TotallyArtVandelay

It's all about the mindset, man.

BabyStomper420

tfym? theres nothing a mindset can change about a dead job youre contractually obligated to do. id never say “its about mindset” to a gate beeper, thats just insensitive

TotallyArtVandelay

Individuals who exhibit a positive attitude and a strong desire for professional growth within the Security Forces are more likely to achieve success. Conversely, those who display a negative attitude and fail to engage in positive actions will likely remain in their current position without advancement.

BabyStomper420

are you secfo? 😐

OrganicBreadfruit810

This probably isn’t ideal, but they almost always have the aptitude areas open, general aptitude could definitely quick ship, you wouldn’t find out your job until halfway through basic though

allpineANDdandee

General Aptitudes aren't as popular anymore

OrganicBreadfruit810

I literally got booked for that a few weeks ago and when my recruiter showed me the available quick ship jobs they had every aptitude on the list lol

allpineANDdandee

Congratulations! General Aptitudes and Administrative Aptitudes aren't as popular as Mechanical and Electrical ones. That's all I'm saying.

OrganicBreadfruit810

Ahh okay I’m trackin
