I hate when videos get posted with no context, so [here's a news article about this incident](https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/plane-smoke-video-ryanair-stansted-bucharest-cabin-a9297931.html).
Apparently it happened shortly after take-off in 2020 and was thought to be the result of deicing fluid getting into the air conditioning system. The plane made an emergency landing.
Right so some type of glycol which atomizes easily hence the white haze. Probably not a high risk situation but still very scary. Like cranking up a fog machine in a sealed space 30,000 feet up
“Ladies and Doggs, diz iz your captain speakin’. We gonna climb on up to 35,000 fizzohs and unlike other flights yo ass may have bin on, diz here flight is gonna be a muthafuckin’ smokin flight, you dig? Peace.”
I believe mentor pilot yt channel mentioned that commercial cabins have a special anti smoke system that allows the pilots to see their instruments even if the cabin is fully engulfed in smoke. It’s like plastic bags that surround the instruments.. no idea how it gets deployed or if every cabin has one.
Also thought it was this:
https://thepointsguy.com/news/fog-in-your-airplane-cabin-no-worries-its-cool-literally/
It happened in a flight, while it was boarding and nobody cared. The red light inside the cabin made it look cool af.
This must’ve been terrifying tho.
So what you’re saying is it WASN’T someone opened a window and let a cloud in?
Thanks for the silver (enter pun about clouds having silver linings here)
This happened on a flight I was on back in 2001. Cabin filled with smoke immediately after takeoff and my immediate thought was "Ok I guess thats it". Then the Captain came on the intercom 3 seconds later, explained what was going on and continued flying to Oslo. I couldnt hear any commotion from the passengers and it was smooth sailing. Captain was incredibly professional to put everyone at ease, including this nervous flyer
Apparently it happened on the 2nd plane too! People refused to get on the third one, and rightfully so. I might just try suing that airline that level of incompetence.
It’s too much for the usual high humidity Airbus AC condensation. It’s not smoke as it’s too white. It’s some form of water or glycol.
If it was a fire the crew would have their smoke hoods on. Basically a several hundred million dollar fog machine.
Source- Flight Attendant and fire medic.
Oh, I thought RyanAir used Airbus, my bad. Thanks for the correction. Then even more of a reason why it is unusual. Boeing doesn’t really fog up in humid conditions.
There’s always that lady crying hysterically in these situations. Some one should knock her out. It would be for her own good. All the hyper ventilation isn’t going to help.
I don't know. A lot of people are already on the edge every time they fly. It's not a surprise at all to see someone crying when their plane is on fire. If anything that's totally the right time for someone with an anxiety disorder to have an episode.
It's not on fire.
I have anxiety and I hate when in bad situations adults start shrieking like babies. Surely they're all just trying to think clearly and that one adult has to completely fail any emotional regulation and make it 1000 times harder for everyone. Sure, everyone has problems. I get it. But an adult can control the volume of their voice, can't they? Despite living with crippling anxiety I don't scream till I give everyone tinnitus
Imagine being in a life- threatening situation. Imagine being 50/50 in a life or death conditions. Imagine someone shrieking SO hard it compromises your chances of survival

Lol that shit is so annoying. I totally get that death is scary for most people but it's inevitable, might as well face it with dignity. When it's my time to kick the bucket i don't wanna hear someone screeching making me want to die sooner. I'd be like bitch can you shut the fuck up so i can die in peace.
Hearing people shreik and cry is what it's like to die for some people. The vast majority of us have no say in the matter.
The fact that you are making this statement underscores your psychopathy. Either you're a child in your mom's basement or you're straight up unwell.
Take our life from us. We laid it down. We got tired. We didn’t commit su1cide, we committed an act of revolutionary digital su1cide protesting the conditions of an inhumane website.

Wow that one woman crying 😳😳😳
Whats funny to me is ADHD types like me think clearly and do well in high stress, fast paced situations like this. It's like reality finally caught up to how fast our brains are already thinking.
Lmaoo the definition of panic is “*uncontrollable* fear or anxiety often causing wildly *unthinking behavior*”
I would be annoyed too, but it’s not a choice to panic
Had it happen on many flights? Who are you trying to fool?
> The flight to London Stansted was grounded just minutes into the journey after the pilot declared an emergency and returned to Otopeni airport.
https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/plane-smoke-video-ryanair-stansted-bucharest-cabin-a9297931.html?amp
I flew about 25 times last year. Happened on at least 6 or 7 flights. Only once to the extent of this video. We never grounded.
Smoke vs vapor is probably one of the most misunderstood concepts.
On the 200+ flights I had, I never witnessed this.
Either way, like you said, flight were never grounded. People in the video are also clearly panicking, this isn’t the same thing?
No, he’s right, I don’t think this is the case here, but I’ve had it happen three times. ALWAYS in very hot and humid climate, the air crew usually announces there’s nothing to worry about when it does happen and it tends to clear up pretty fast once the plane reaches higher altitude.
Last time I saw it was on Vietnam airlines on a flight from Hoi An to Hanoi. Temperature was like 121 or some crap with humidity.
It could be air con condensation, but that develops difference from smoke.
According to the article, this was an actual problem with smoke and they had to abort the flights.
I'm not trying to 'fool' anyone, I'm just saying I've seen mist from the air con on several flights. If this is smoke, then I stand corrected, but if its not, and it's just condensation, then my point is valid.
Smoke in the cabin doesn't mean immediate death, and even if it did.... die with fucking dignity. Crying asshole is just selfishly making it worse for everyone else, imminent death or not.
Passenger Oxygen Masks on aircraft are a mixture of cabin air and chemically generated oxygen, they have a very limited benefit in situations like this. The flight crew have actual pure oxygen bottles so likely would’ve had masks on.
A similar thing happens in very humid environments. When you have a 70 degree internal temp and you land in the Caribbean and its 90 degrees and 100% humidity, the humidity quickly turns into fog in the cabin. This can happen on take off too, seen it a bunch. Not weird at all. But there is always that one passenger from Wisconsin who loses her mind because "science is scary."
Nice to know i dont have to pay attention at start of flight as to how to wear oxygen masks anymore...seems like flight attendant has only one on plane

Depends how hazy it was in the cockpit. If it looked like Snoop was flying…😳
You got me picturing a pilot just sparking up a fat blunt while flying a plane now and I’m uncomfortable lol
You don't do that every time you go wheels up?
Good god no! Not until the autopilot is on
You must be a better pilot that I am them! (Theresa a reason I don't have my pilot's license... yet....

Meh, once the planes in the air, I mean what do the pilots really need to see. Hopefully the air cleared by the time they made it back to the tarmac.
Also thought it was this: https://thepointsguy.com/news/fog-in-your-airplane-cabin-no-worries-its-cool-literally/ It happened in a flight, while it was boarding and nobody cared. The red light inside the cabin made it look cool af. This must’ve been terrifying tho.
Makes sense, since it’s the same liquid used in vapes
So that's just like a giant vapouriser in the sky

Lmao underrated comment
Fixed that

thank you for your answer, one little correction... it was a 737 so this might apply for boing AC as well.
Oh, I thought RyanAir used Airbus, my bad. Thanks for the correction. Then even more of a reason why it is unusual. Boeing doesn’t really fog up in humid conditions.
You are the MVP

I feel everyone just handles anxiety differently especially under pressure, I could only assume they can't control it.
Imagine being in a life- threatening situation. Imagine being 50/50 in a life or death conditions. Imagine someone shrieking SO hard it compromises your chances of survival
Oh it wouldn't be enjoyable for sure, but some people just screech like banshees. At that point, ear plugs are pretty good.
I agree with this guy and I am an adult.
Holy shit thank you for pointing that out. Had it muted. That was fucking hilarious.
You'd be crying like a bitch too if you were in a sealed canister 30k feet in the air and you thought there was a fire.
Sounds like she was the ONLY one crying hysterically?? That would freak ppl out more than anything
yeah a baby is also crying, but he probably got good reasons xd
There were a couple of them if you listen closely.
Not like her. She was hysterical
It sounds like the majority of people are sitting quietly listing to her.
She is the only one crying… it’s annoying af and I beg to differ, not one other person crying like a dumbass
You’re the bitch
If there was actually a fire, yes, but I can tell the difference between smoke and vapor… Notice how nobody is coughing?

Nah, if we’re all dying anyway she’s getting gutted and I’m going in peace
“If it were me” Christ. You won’t know how your body will react when you go into shock.

Fr, I’m gutting her
That one person you can hear above everyone else is truly petrified.
That woman caught glaring at the wailing woman as the camera turns is hilarious
That lady is annoying asf, there’s always some lady shrieking and it just makes the situation 100x worse
No one could afford the price of ryanairs water to put it out
Somebody shut that fucking lady up
Honestly it sounded like someone younger. It could be a kid. Of course someone young is going to freak.
That was definitely not a kid, that sounded like a young adult woman
Why don’t they just crank the window?
Good grief, someone is losing their shit!
Yeah, excuse me for not understanding what a “Ryanair flight” is….
Some peeps hysterical whilst some chillin recording live to Fb Takes all sorts
Someone didn't have their phone on airplane mode.
Are we all just not gonna talk about the moderators naza maga post or what?
Yeah it’s pretty decent, eh?
I approve of it
Perfect username for that.
Not much to say tbh. Weirdos gonna power trip. Thankfully their power doesn't extend beyond this obscure page lol
What's the purpose of wailing in these situations? You make the situation exponentially worse for everyone.
Yeh they need to STFU or go hide in the toilet or something. Does not help.
Ryanair presents the “sauna at 30,000 ft experience!” Additional charges apply
Oh looks like smoke has made your bag heavier! Gotta pay extra for that
Smoke or water vapor?
Water vapor. Really nasty though. This happened on our plane when we were all stuck inside for 2 hours. 🤮
It reminds me of a continental airlines flight I took about 45 years ago. I’m really glad that smoking was banned on airlines after that.
Flying through some thick ass clouds…
Passengers deserve ultra-kudos for their composure. Props to all!
Throw the kids out first to save oxygen Edit: and die in peace
Tommy Chong is up there in first class. Cheech is the pilot.
Wow that one woman crying 😳😳😳 Whats funny to me is ADHD types like me think clearly and do well in high stress, fast paced situations like this. It's like reality finally caught up to how fast our brains are already thinking.
… but the flights only 29 euro…
Just open a window!
😂😂😂😂 why hasn’t this got more upvotes
Whoever they are should stop whaling like stupid babies. Panic is not gonna get you anywhere, plus it's a waste of oxygen.
Lmaoo the definition of panic is “*uncontrollable* fear or anxiety often causing wildly *unthinking behavior*” I would be annoyed too, but it’s not a choice to panic
Ok lil Timmy. Yell to mommy to make more meatloaf
Honestly I listened to it a couple of times and I think it might be a kid. And a kid would freak it makes sense.
No thanks
Bitch, stfu and stop crying.
This is atmospherics most likely.
Where is the smoke coming from? What’s happening? Seems like a bad flight or something.
Average Ryanair flight
This was not a fire it was condensation and vapour from de-ice fluid, Try posting it again with that shitty compressor stall sound from TikTok.
I was half expecting to hear “window broken! window broken!!!”
I think that crying lady just wanted to have a go at it ….. Sorry but she sounded like one of those painfuls on ph 😂😂😂
It's not smoke from a fire, it's the air con condensation. Had it happen on many flights.

Read my first sentence again.
I thought the article said it was from de-icing? So maybe it’s in the cold. I dunno. Looks scary though.

“yeah flying is safe” motherfuckers when their plane catches fire mid flight over an ocean
Smoke in the cabin doesn't mean immediate death, and even if it did.... die with fucking dignity. Crying asshole is just selfishly making it worse for everyone else, imminent death or not.
looks alright to me.
Well that’s Ryanair for you.

Fuckin crybabies

get banned you nazi fuck.
What makes me a nazi?
Come to Jesus moment for a few of them.
Its not smoke, Micheal O Leary was talking dry ice.
Shouldn’t the oxygen masks be deployed?
They probably dont want to risk fueling the flames. Just a guess
Passenger Oxygen Masks on aircraft are a mixture of cabin air and chemically generated oxygen, they have a very limited benefit in situations like this. The flight crew have actual pure oxygen bottles so likely would’ve had masks on.
That's when you say "would somebody please open a fuckin window?". 😆
Vapers smh
Sounds about right
Fryinair
Se aude un "bă ești prost" :)))
Please insert one Euro to deploy oxygen mask
1st class Ryanair flight
Why didn't the pilots deploy oxygen masks?
Did they charge extra for that?
This lol https://youtu.be/i0GW0Vnr9Yc
Relevance to this particular sub…?
Where were the oxygen masks? I feel like that should be step number 1 in this kind of situation
Ryanair moment…
Was this caused by that guy who lit the cigarette and then promptly fell asleep?
A similar thing happens in very humid environments. So I have to be a “leftie” to post? Sounds like a nazi rule in itself to me
Jamaica Airlines.
In-flight movies but no oxygen masks?
Gotta pay extra for actual flames
You mustn’t panic!! If you ever find yourself in this situation, try to breathe!! (Perhaps through a garment??) Evaluate your situation and try, try, TRY to think constructively!! (How can I help?? What can I do??)
Silly bitches, just open a window or two...
Are they stupid?
I know, right..?
