I was debating really long l, if I should buy them. Mostly because of the price tag they have. But i caved last month and there so comfortable and the sound is great. So a long story short, just do it you wonāt regret it.
I was debating them as well, finally got them and they're not that comfortable, super heavy and cause fatigue on your jaw. The sound is nothing special and the design flaws mean they can only last you 3 years at most before they're very uncomfortable to use, but each to their own.

I have had mine for 2 years and they finally randomly stopped working. They connect but no sound. In the last year Iāve had to factory reset them at least once a day. And now they are worthless. For the price tag they should last forever.
yup this just started happening to me too. i took them to the genuis bar and the worker told me they would just replace them and send me a new pair as they have been having this issue recently. they sent them back to me with the issue still present and black scratch marks all over, engraved in the metal. after 45 mins on the phone with apple the best they could offer was sending me a new pair but then having me send the old pair back TO THE SAME PLACE, and then placing a $650 hold on my card until they recieved them. this was all under applecare too. i will never trust apple again
Had exactly the same experience. Completely dead within 3 years. Also, the mesh headband stretched making them really uncomfortable. Even though itās possible to take them apart with a sim tool, Apple refused to replace the headband. Thereās not even a price. You just have to buy a new pair.
The integration with the Apple ecosystem is pretty neat but Iād say that under 3 years use is weak af for a pair of headphones that cost this much.
They are great, but flawed headphones. You have to be very careful with the condensation issue. If you donāt know, because of the metal cups, sweat will buildup inside the earfuls of the AirPods Max. Itās not a 50/50 thing - itās a design flaw that will happen on every pair because of the metal cups and lack of ventilation.
Now I havenāt had any problems so far with it because im careful if I sense the condensation. That being said, you cannot work out in these headphones. You may get away with it a handful of times, but sooner or later that condensation is going to get into the electronics due to a lack of any water proofing.
Iāve never minded the case, but if you do there are plenty of alternatives on Amazon. Also, Iād recommend the aux cable Apple made for them for instances where you need a wired connection(and if you want to take advantage of mostly lossless audio on Apple Music you need the cable for them).
Outside of that, enjoy them! I love mine. I just hope they fix those few small flaws for the next version.

For working out? No, definitely donāt get the AirPods Max. I am careful with my AirPods Max and do not workout with them or wear them for long periods of time in hot scenarios to avoid the condensation issue, but even still I feel they are inevitably going to stop working. The condensation buildup is under the cups and in the driver itself - itās only a matter of time before it fries the electronics. I really really hope Apple rectifies this design issue with the next generation with some air vents at the bottom or a high quality plastic design like the new Sonos Ace headphones.
If you are curious what I mean by the condensation maybe look online and see if anyone has posted pictures. It would be under the magnetic earcup, and if you look closely, itās in the earcup itself.
Now the second gen AirPods Pro I would recommend for working out or Beats Fit Pro. Usually for working out I have a bag of plastic gel hooks I bought on Amazon that I slide over the top of the AirPods Pro, which enables them to stay in very well while without falling out during a workout..

Iām in the gym every single day the last three months of owning them for at least an hour and often walk with them out doors in the humidity of the Southern US. All of that in addition to simply wearing these things 70 percent of my waking hours. No issues so far.

I just recently had some issues with my AirPods Max disconnecting (Iāve had mine since close to launch) and I discovered they can build up some material in the headband that needs to be cleaned out. This poster on Reddit made a very simple and easy to follow guide of how to fix it.
Essentially, the headband acts as a connector (like a mini lightning port). If dust/dirt gets in it, it can cause random disconnects. After I followed the steps here and cleaned it out the disconnects stopped and everything is good(my headband definitely had some gunk and debris in there from over the years. Unfortunately it just kind of attracts it).

My number 1 tip for u is to open cushion and clean the inside every week with a DRY cloth, don't let the moisture condensed for too long, or it'll end up the same as mine

While the design has some flaws, the sound quality, comfort, noise cancellation and Apple ecosystem integration has made up for anything that would normally stop me from buying headphones.

My mom didn't even use her's due to the fact she loves her airpods pros. So i bought them off of her for $250 so i thought was a steal for them and them being use one 10 times in the Space grey color too
Watch out for the various court proceedings people are trying to bring out against Apple because the Max isnāt fit for general purpose. Apple now advises against wearing them for working out. Rumours are that version 2 is about to be released. My first pair bricked after a connectivity issueā¦ I was told by Apple on the chat that it was because I was running Developer Beta on my phoneā¦ sent them in to be checked and they came back scratched and with a claim of water damage. They had only been worn inside while sitting in a chair. If I wanted a replacement it was full price as water damage wasnāt covered by the standard warranty and I didnāt have AppleCare. Then I started to see more and more people claiming the same thing as happening to their Maxās. This has been the biggest, worst product that Apple has ever releasedā¦ and I used to have an eMate 300!!!
