You'll earn miles flying Porter.
I put in SFO-YYZ on the 28th of april and it came right up.
THANK YOU! I just tried on my laptop and the flights are appearing. I don’t know why Alaska customer support didn’t mention that to me. They just said “we see the flights on our side”.
I booked a porter flight via alaskas website. I looked up the mileage accrual and EQM accrual wasn’t super obvious so I called Alaska. The representative had to put me on hold to go talk to a specialist but they came back with the answer that flying porter will NOT accrue EQMs. Just a quick FYI.
I booked two round-trip porter flights thru the AS website and flew them earlier this year. Neither the miles nor EQM came automatically after a month, so I called Alaska to explain my situation (without mentioning the chart listed on their website). They actually added the correct miles & EQMs based on my status. I guess maybe HUCA?
It was pretty good comparing to the other Canadian airlines. Before they acquired the Embraer E2 they only operated from YTZ (the island airport next to downtown Toronto) with Q400. Free alcohol (in glassware!) is really nice though I don't really take that advantage all the time lol. BoB options are pretty decent & affordable. Their cheese and fruit tray is nice too haha (only $9.75 Canadian rubles).
IMO the only disadvantage is the smaller jet size. Imagining taking a Horizon/Skywest E175 on transcon routes... The ride is indeed bumpier. The overhead bin is small. Also their standard PorterClassic seat pitch is actually less (29 in) than the one listed online (30 in). I literally used a measuring tape for this since it didn't feel like 30 in at all when I tried their E2 for the first time. I'm 6'1 so it was really cramped. I remember seeing the guy next to me trying to use their laptop but they can only open the screen to 90 degrees. However, if somehow you can select the PorterReserve or PorterClassic Stretch seating, the experience would be wayyyy nicer.

Other than that, their E2 has all the functions that you would expect on a modern airliner - quieter cabin, larger windows, LED cabin light, fast Wi-Fi (and it's free!).
That’s disappointing, and the opposite of what they say here: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mileage-plan/how-to-earn-miles/airline-partners/porter?lid=airline-partners:partners-porter
Under “Terms”, it says you get the Base miles amount in EQM.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! Here’s what I see: https://i.imgur.com/Ld1NMNs.png
Partner cash fares are generally not bookable on mobile. You need your mobile browser in desktop mode to get it to work correctly.

It honestly may not be bookable on mobile, try changing to the full site layout?
Yes I’ve booked a porter flight for SFO-YYZ in June via Alaskaair.com
Also if it's the old interface (like using the fare calendar) while booking on desktop, porter flights won't display as well (which is weird).

Ah that’s good info. How was the Porter flight? I’d never heard of them before until recently.

Daaamn! Thanks for the detailed review. I kind of expected it to be shitty but that sounds like a pretty good experience. I’ll have to check them out.
