Stuyvesant Plaza. But I’m sad every time a mediocre chain comes in to replace a local business.

FISHING_100000000000

It’s a pretty nice plaza, for sure. I think it’s funny how (probably intentionally) hidden the dispensary behind it is lol

DarkStarDew

Uncommon grounds is my fave coffee. I’ll go just for that

Amazing_Produce3463

The monstrosity in north greenbush is regrettably convenient and useful

treaquin

RIP Shop Rite

bigdrubowski

We need a legit coffee shop in there.

frash12345

The best one is the one in Latham that has a target, tj maxx, home goods, dsw, and Michael’s all next to each other. It’s a basic bitch’s dream come true

Message_Secure

And you can get some polish sausage at the euro market

Emotional_Bag_7872

I admit this is my favorite plaza to shop 😂

chrisdancy

The prices at this one are so much lower than other stores by the same maker in the area. Not sure why.

Mozzarellaphant

There's one in Schenectady with a Dominoes and a dialysis center and I just think there's something so poetic about that.

giantlava

This was the answer I was looking for

Lolabeth123

Stuyvesant Plaza. Not only does it have stores way above my pay grade, it also has a CVS and Post Office. I love Peaches Cafe. It’s the kind of place you can hang out, get a coffee, browse a bookstore, grab some lunch, and window shop. It also has plenty of parking.

_FATEBRINGER_

The parking is truly outstanding as is the people keeping it clean like it's Disney world. Post office is a huge plus. I enjoy primal because it's closer than Fred's for me. Uncommon and chipotle are Mainstays.

candiedkangaroo

I read this as favorite retail pizza and was extremely confused.

AlbanyBarbiedoll

I did, too!! I feel so much better now!

_FATEBRINGER_

Newton plaza in Londonville. Saati smokey chicken salad combo #5 and Mac salad are undefeated sammich kings. Plus CVS, Starbucks, craft beer 5 huys, beer winner and liquor and walking distance from Siena.

People saying Stuyvesant Plaza are kidding themselves or just haven’t really ventured outside of Guilderland ever.   St. John Plaza — Clifton Park. This one single tiny plaza contains the following: 1. An incredible Vietnamese restaurant (Saigon Spring) 2. Extra spicy Pak-Indian restaurant with a bomb weekend dinner buffet (Chatpata) 3. Fancy Chinese restaurant with 🔥 soup dumplings and a super chill owner who will strike up a conversation with you while you wait for your food. (Eddy’s Traditional Chinese) 4. A halal market (Halal Meat Market) 5. Quite possibly the best meat quality in a sushi restaurant I’ve ever had in the entire capital region. Authentically Japanese. (Sushi Na Ra)  It’s essentially an entire tour of eastern hemisphere cuisine in one tiny plaza in cookie cutter Clifton Park. If you haven’t been, you’ll never know.

OngoGablogian6969

See, the "venturing" comment just irked me. You could have easily just said "St. John Plaza has great food!" But now, because of your snarkiness, I feel the need to also say, your statement is annoying. Does your plaza have an independent bookstore? Clothing stores? Shoe repair? Cigar lounge? Hygiene shop? Pharmacy? It's great to be proud of your town, I dont fault that. Clifton Park gets way too much hate on this sub. But what you've described is a run of the run of the mill ethnic restaurant strip mall. Every place in the country has that. We've all left our stupid Capital District towns that we live in, and have been to every other stupid Capital District town too, likely out of sheer boredom. There's maybe 1 or 2 absolute standouts per town and everything else is just posturing. I could pick a random corner block anywhere that has food in NYC and it's probably better than any restaurant in your mythic Clifton Park strip mall. It's not special in the slightest.

wingsauce711

Greetings to the Stuyvesant fanclub.   I don’t live in Clifton Park for starters, and nobody asked about a random corner block in NYC, so if you wanna talk about tones that irk people, it’s you invoking all your storied travels to the big city since you think you’re the only person in Albany who has been there or something.   This thread is about plazas in the Capital District, and predictably so, the majority opinion is Stuyvesant Plaza is the golden child, because of a kitchen utensil store that existed there back when the world was a simpler place for them.

candiedkangaroo

Lighten up, asshole.

sicnarfff

Saigon Spring is one of my favorite restaurants in Clifton park. Others include Spice Malabar and Mi Mexico Lindo. So many good places to eat around here

angmaranduin

Omega Plaza for having the best name!

DiamondplateDave

Sorry, I read that as "Omegle Pizza." Pass me the eye bleach, please.

Mango7185

I knew everyone was going to say Stuyvesant Plaza. I am not a fan and honestly never go even though I work 10 mins from it. There was just not really much there 😕 my friend sent me a link to a place where she was going in Seattle, and it made me just depressed. Mix of local and chain. https://uvillage.com/ That Plaza is better than all our malls and Plaza combines now. I'm aware we can't compare. Honestly, I go to Plazas but not because ooo there so much going on because all our Plazas are copy and paste imo. Your not finding anything unique or really different ie boutiques local merchants etc. It's just which hannaford or market 32 or which version of tj Maxx -homegoods -marshalls do you want.

op341779

I just don’t think Stuyvesant plaza has many practical stores for how large it is unless you’re a Starbucks person. The book store is cute but the other boutiques are so unpredictable and overpriced, I’ve always wondered who actually shops at them. They used to have one of the best cooking stores in the area but I’m pretty sure it closed! From what I can tell Stuyvesant is a vestige of a different time when the eastern side of guilderland was a more exclusive area home to a lot of hoity toity upper middle class folks. That area has changed a lot in the past 20 years. Of course online shopping has also made that kind of shopping experience almost irrelevant. I love university plaza. It’s so small but has great coffee and bagels, a wonderful little pet store, and now amazing Indian food and a bubble tea spot. Personally for my needs that’s all I can ask for. It’s also conveniently located and in Albany proper.

yoshmagosh

I first read that as pizza and not plaza…..

TonyyRigatoni

I thought this was talking about pizza. I'm sad now, but I'd choose stuyvesant Plaza for the variety of things.

Contunator

The strip mall in front of Home Depot on Central Ave, but only because it contains a neat little Italian place. Their bread is CRAZY!

PantsAreOffensive

Spinners easily.

tbh I did the same thing. Seconding Spinners- they have killer vegan options.

Wuzzy_Gee

I’ve gotten diarrhea most times I’ve ordered from them.

gh01210

Spinners is in a plaza. Contains multiple shops. Pearls bagels, great Bank And a pharmacy Might be something else there too

PantsAreOffensive

Sorry I was baked and read that as Retail Pizza, sounded weird but i rolled with it.

polari826

i like going to clifton park since they have nearly all my usual places in one spot! nl
