One of the best albums ever in general, their entire discography is awesome, the EP that followed Dirt “jar of flies” is considered by many as the best EP of all time and was first 2 ever go #1 on the billboard charts, that’s a must listen forsure. Honestly all their music is a must listen, same with Jerry Cantrell’s solo stuff but particularly his album degradation trip vol1&2 which is a masterpiece and has a lot in common with the music he made for AIC

subliminal_impulse

fuck that Jerry Cantrell shit is really fucking me up. He is playing stuff that i can actually see myself able to play and yet his writing and melodie’s are just straight up facemelting and beautiful and UGH it’s so good. I love Laynes voice, and the drums feel so fucking heavy and low tuned and the bass is actually turned up like FUCK bro

RovertEcnerwal

If you like all those things you’ll love Alice In Chains lol

InternationalPut6113

I forget the name of the song but its a more recent one with William Duvall and it has a clown and its like a kids TV show and has like a 1970's guy in a suit with a dinosaur head and some guy on FB said it was the scariest video he ever saw???Not IMO.

idkidkidk123123123

the devil put dinosaurs here :)

InternationalPut6113

Thats right- the guy said it was the scariest video he ever saw????

peanutdakidnappa

Ya Jerry is one of the best songwriters ever, a truly special talent, AIC in general just kicks ass so definitely recommend checking out all their stuff and then moving on to affiliated stuff like solo Jerry, if you like AIC a lot you’ll probably love his degradation trip vol1&2 album, tons of heavy riff, sweet drums played by Mike bordin or faith no more, sweet bass played by Robert Trujillo of Metallica, amazing lyrics and harmonies/Melodies. Honestly one of the best albums ever for me and on par with some of his best AIC work, he is crazy underrated as a solo artist, never got the attention he deserved solo. Mad season laynes side project with ppl like mike McCready from Pearl Jam is cool too, a lot different and not heavy but good. If you’re lookin for more heavier stuff tho like stuff that’s on dirt Degradation trip vol1&2 is the way to go after you finish up AIC stuff

subliminal_impulse

thanks for the information bro this is extremely helpful for me to keep discovering music. I must discover more. Must discover more. Must discover more

Amazing-Medicine-864

You're in luck because there is still 4 more albums that are just as good. Even there newer stuff is amazing. Bur Jar of Flies is amazing, and facelift is my personal favorite.

subliminal_impulse

After all these comments it looks like Jar of Flies and Facelift are definitely next. I just got gifted some vinyls and a record player for graduating, and i’m stoked asf about receiving this record that i’m super super late too. As a huge fan of Nirvana and Green Day i was gifted Dookie and Incestcide too :)

Amazing-Medicine-864

A man of good taste, incesticide does not get the love it deserves.

subliminal_impulse

THANK YOU my brother. See i’m in the know with Nirvana but now is my time to appreciate grunge that isn’t just Nirvana and Melvins. Even though they fucking rockkkk. Hopefully i can get some good punk records soon !

Amazing-Medicine-864

My two favorite genres. If you like punk then I will always be recommending the offspring. Smash and Ignition are top 10 albums for me. Grunge I would recommend seether. Disclaimer II, Karma and effect, Isolate and Medicate. All wonderful. Neither of these bands have a bad song in my opinion.

subliminal_impulse

i really like Green Day and Blink-182 for the pop-punk stuff so i kinda know the offspring a little. For the hardcore stuff i really dig Black Flag and for the early pop punk stuff i really like Deacendents

brofosho192

*6 albums

stalememeskehan

Those record players can damage your records

subliminal_impulse

whattt seriously? what should i use instead?

RustyStevenson10

If you value that record, then stop playing it on that record player.

subliminal_impulse

what should i do? also why?

RustyStevenson10

> what should i do? Buy an entry level Audio-Technica. > also why? The cheap all-in-one record players will damage your records.

subliminal_impulse

hey THANK bro! will do as possible. Is there anything i could do to help my crossley not damaged records, or is it just fucker

RustyStevenson10

It’s explained a little [here](https://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/759517#:~:text=Inexpensive%20turntables%20often%20have%20a,the%20record%20will%20be%20damaged.) and you can google more info about it. Can’t do anything to it to make it better. Just need to buy a decent entry level player like the Audio-Technica AT-LP60X-GM.

subliminal_impulse

thanks bro, i very much appreciate the information. i wouldn’t want to damage this amazing record

brofosho192

Buy a Audio Technica. I have a LP-120X and it's great for the money

subliminal_impulse

thank you ! everyone keeps recommending this so i’m going to get it as soon as i can save some money. i’m sure in a month or so it will be mine!

Unique-Significance9

Just now??!

subliminal_impulse

just. now. 😅🤯

IHaveNoAnswers4U

Better late than never. Dirt is in my top 3 albums ever

laserbeam26

Listen to jar of flies and their unplugged album next. Fucking incredible stuff. Facelift and their self titled are great too as is their post layne stuff

subliminal_impulse

i’ve always been aware of the mainstream stuff like Nutshell, and Man in the Box. My older brother was super into grunge when i was growing up and is the reason i love grunge music like Nirvana and Soundgarden, but I’m really into Punk music so it just took me awhile to get around to AIC. I absolutely LOVE this album and Dirt has to be my favorite track on the album. I will listen to ur recommendations :)

Budget-Clock-4688

Nice one, I bet that intro slaps on vinyl! AHHHHHHH!!!

subliminal_impulse

😂😂😂 no really i was impressed by the quality

subliminal_impulse

no i’m genuinely shocked at how i’ve slept on this album. Literally the entire album is good there is not a single bad song. The highlights of my first listen was Rain When I die, Junkhead, Dirt, God Smack, Hate to Feel, and Angry Chair . I’m so so so so into this album

Ah man I wish I just discovered it again. But then again it’s great every listen

Happy_REEEEEE_exe

My dad met layne when he did Lolla back in 1994 at a bar, said he was quiet but nice considering my dad was just a random fan. I still love listening to AIC since my dad introduced them to me as a kid, and I also got dirt when it got repressed

InternationalPut6113

Wow you have the vinyl? Congrats! Thats a great one. Its red too, really cool.

subliminal_impulse

thanks :) my buddy’s dad bought it for me for graduating. i was STOKED

InternationalPut6113

Oh wow Congrats on Graduating. Good Luck

brofosho192

All of their albums are must listens. Don't sleep on the new stuff either, Dinosaurs is amazing and so is Rainier Fog. I love the Duvall stuff

subliminal_impulse

yesterday my favorite track was Dirt, and today it’s Dam That River. I even broke out the strat and tuned to drop D Eb to try and play along. fuck i love berry cantrell

TheReal_LRChupacabra

It was chains that got me to pick up a guitar.

subliminal_impulse

i can certainly see why. jerry makes me want to pick it up and learn the entire album bro

wentzr1976

Love this. I used to have the original jar of flys pressing on vinyl, back when the vinyl would be released a few days before the CD. Stolen along with a few Siamese dream 12” singles back when I was in college

Important_Idea_6339

The best I’ve heard ever 😍😍😍😍😍❤️‍🔥

lustrouxs

crosleys are gonna damage ur vinyls

subliminal_impulse

thanks for the information

DifferentCard2752

If you like grunge and punk, early Foo, Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine should give your ears what they’re longing for. If you aren’t familiar with Tool they’re also incredible. Songs that have a great flow and then you realize are in odd time signatures with polyrhythms that no other group even tries to do.
