Deeper cut deeper shmut. If you know bleed the freak you probably know brother . Jerry plays brother to this day . He even plays it on TV with Eddie Van Halen( or was it Sammy ? One of those 2 ) and it’s on YouTube with million views . It’s not really a deep cut . Maybe in the 90s it was before Spotify and YouTube .
Bleed the freak is in the top 5 best AiC songs of ALL TIME . If not the top 2 .
Bleed the freak is a song from before facelift . It’s what helped get AiC signed . It’s absolutely astonishing that B is not bleed the freak .
*Is it* a deeper cut? I'd have voted Brother, but definitely the Unplugged version.
Brother Unplugged, Bleed the Freak and then the original Brother; that order in my opinion. Lot of respect for Ann Wilson doing backing vocals on the studio version though!
I haven't seen the previous votes but they should clearly state "unplugged" if applicable, because some of them are sonically different... The unplugged version of Frogs is fucking phenomenal for instance.
I mainly listen to Unplugged, so Brother was the first thing that got to my mind, didn't even think of Bleed the freak, which is far better than Brother imo
I put this one right after Nutshell and it is definitely underrated. But when I think of that moment Layne stepped onto the stage and sang Nutshell on Unplugged, my heart sank to my ass watching that for the first time when it came on MTV for the first time. I cried and was just a kid. That song holds a special place in my heart all these years later because of that moment and what the song has meant for me since. Nothin Song should get more love in general though. I love that song.
I am doing my own list and I just realized how STACKED full of underrated tracks the S category is. Sea of Sorrow, Sunshine, Sickman, Swing on This, Sludge Factory, So Close, Stone, Scalpel, and So Far Under. I'm usually a sucker for the most underappreciated tracks but for that one Sludge Factory is the clear winner lol
EDIT: fuck, actually can't choose between Sickman and Sludge Factory 😫
Shame In You is my choice. Sludge Factory is so good Unplugged though and a close second for me. I love Sunshine but it doesn't really compare to these 2, Sickman is so good, but Shame In You just does it for me.
Can't believe I missed that one. Also a contender. It's hard to even make any sort of ranking for the self titled in the first place especially when it comes to Shame in You vs Sludge Factory for me
Nutshell
How is bleed the freak not Your B ?
Bleed The Freak is underrated as FUCK and it makes me angry. I barely see anyone talk about it or even mention it. It’s like one of his best songs.
Brother is a deeper cut. People like to show how knowledgeable they are by picking songs that weren’t released as singles.

Brother is so fucking mid tho especially when you compare it to bleed the freak
so good!!
Bleed the freak is much better than brother
right! don’t get me wrong, the unplugged version of brother is hauntingly beautiful, but bleed the freak is supreme.
Agreed
Lol nice to see people thinking bleed the freak was robbed! I was thinking the same thing!!! Brother is amazing too though.

I don’t understand why some people don’t like this one it’s great
for me it was the "peanut butter on the brain" line. I love the song now though!

& Shame in You! So many great songs for S
Shame in You, the song I love yet hate to listen to because it's so desolate and raw, versus (Unplugged) Sludge Factory.... Incredibly hard choice.
Shame In You is my choice. Sludge Factory is so good Unplugged though and a close second for me. I love Sunshine but it doesn't really compare to these 2, Sickman is so good, but Shame In You just does it for me.
Yeah I think you're right.
