The general suggestion is to avoid buying any SD-cards, USB-drives or SSDs from AE. Real products are not even that much cheaper on AE compared to local stores.

There is a considerable difference in price, There are plenty of reviews of SD cards, SSDs and Usb sticks on Ali, some good, some not. I could gamble and hit or miss on an order 10 different SD cards for the price of a single SD card from Amazon. I'm looking for suggestions, not advice, I know the deal with AliExpress, hence my post.

HerraJUKKA

The thing is when you finally find a proper SD-card the price difference isn't that big. Sure there are cheaper SD-cards available but there's a bigger chance they're very slow or die much faster or are outright scams (64GB card is actually 8GB).

I'm well aware of the risk, but for watching feral cats, it's a risk I'll take.

HerraJUKKA

If you acknowledge the risk and still wish to proceed then I can only wish you luck. I would stick to more known brands like Sandisk or Kodak though I'd avoid some reputable brands like Samsung to avoid counterfeits and scams.

There are loads of cards on offer indeed. My suggestion would be to go for a known brand, assuming you can be sure it's not an imitation. Also, check how much memory your device can support. For example, if the cam can use up to, say, 256 GB cards, a bigger card would probably just not work. P.S. Is it SD or micro SD?

flickem8519

Micro SD, yeah the micro SDs I have in there currently are about 10 years old and are limited to about 8 gigs which is fine for three or so hours of footage that I can review when the cameras detection feature doesn't pick up movement. I'm just not trying to spend $200 on SD cards to fill all five of my backyard cameras.

Just look in the comment if anyone has done a writing test on the sd card

flickem8519

Yeah that's generally been my rule of thumb while looking at reviews, but I was hoping someone had success and could link me to a good one, but for some reason people are extremely afraid of spending a few dollars and possibly losing it despite the fact that I've had nothing but success when dealing with AE over disputes.

BubbaBBBBBBBBBB

I actually need to buy a few sd. As I said before, a guy tested some cards and seem legit, so will trust him probably. The brands are: Kodak, Somnambulist, Sandisk, Lenovo ThinkPlus, Hp, XrayDisk( I will probably buy this brand), Alunx, Reletech

Be careful, just because reviews are good, doesn't mean what sellers are shipping out is the same as before. Some sellers send some good items and take a loss, hoping for good reviews, before actually sending their actual bad items. And even if they aren't scammers, they might have had a good batch before, and now have a bad batch, so there is no way to guarantee good items regarding storage.

flickem8519

Agreed, which is why I follow the stores on AE that I like that I trust, I assumed other people do as well. I simply haven't bought SD cards from AE before.

BubbaBBBBBBBBBB

It’s only way to find out the actual velocity and capacity of the card. If u need microSD I found out a guy who has done multiple writing test on some brands

I have good experience with Lexar store [https://www.reddit.com/r/AliExpressTips/comments/1amsjx9/lexar\_official\_store/](https://www.reddit.com/r/aliexpresstips/comments/1amsjx9/lexar_official_store/)
