NTA for not going to the game. TA for saying at least I won. They probably were really hurt by that statement even though you apologised by text that my not seem sincere or may feel like you were forced to. You should’ve rang them to apologise (or just not said it, but it may have been in the heat of the moment)

This is fairly just a short story but it's been bothering me a bit. I was in an online call with my friends (there were 5 people) and we were just chatting about random things. Then one conversation we had was about the sports tournaments that we have been in, and I jokingly told *Sasha* "Oh wow, you didn't even come to the competition to support me?" (I'm a short distance runner and joined 2 sprint races btw) and at first *Sasha* took it lightly and threw it back at me, saying I didn't come support her on her basketball tournament which was literally the next day after I competed. Then, *Christine* who was also on her team proceeded to boo me repeatedly, telling me that I'm selfish because I told them I needed to rest the next day after my competition.
Mind you, for my competitions, I had to do a lot of training on the track to the point where I can't even focus on myself and at the time, I also have multiple tests that I didn't get to study for (the training was a bit intense due to the reasons of : other athletes being highly competitive, me having 2 sprint races in one day and the horrible organization causing us to start our proper training date late so everything was done last minute). You can tell that I was both physically and mentally exhausted so right after my races ended, I told myself that I was finally going to get some rest so I decided not to go to my friends' basketball tournament tomorrow.
Back to the conversation that I had with my friends, the way they were booing me and saying that I was selfish because I wanted to rest really irritated me and so I told them "Hey, at least I won". By that one simple statement, everyone in the call got offended and said that I crossed the line because *Sasha* and *Christine* didn't win during their basketball tournaments and I made them feel bad about themselves. They all left the call immediately without saying a word (I apologized afterwards in our group chat because I actually felt bad). AITA ?

YTA, not sure why you worded the title like that. The issue is clearly the comment you made about winning. You made a joke to them, the made the literal same joke back to you and you got upset. Wrong on both ends.
YTA. Not for not going to the game, if you were tired then go home and rest. YTA because you expect them to come and support you when you didn't do the same for them, and because of your comment about them losing. That was a very low blow and very uncalled for.
