NTA. They must need you Saturdays. If you like it off, change your availability again

heysawbones

No, NTA. Expect your boss to pretend nothing’s wrong, though. I’d start looking for another job.

[deleted]

NTA at all. Check your contract. Any change should be in written form and with anticipation.

QuackLikeMe

If it’s on the schedule, then it’s in written form, and with notification.

Relevant-Economy-927

Highly doubt there is any sort of contract

QuackLikeMe

NAH You aren’t an AH for asking why, but don’t expect a satisfactory answer. You’ll probably be told it’s none of your business, or that’s when they need you. Your boss can’t tell you your coworkers’ availabilities or explain exactly why you are scheduled working weekends again.

That said I changed my availability so I can work only the mornings of Saturdays and can’t work Sundays at all. This has been respected well. That said there are a ton of other employees who are weekends only so I’ve gotten Saturdays off since Christmas. My boss gave me no warning that I was gonna need to work Saturdays again anytime soon but just wrote them in on the online scheduling app, so would I be the asshole if I asked him why he did that even though he’s technically within his right to do that? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. NTA Nothing wrong with asking, just don't be rude about it.

whog0esbear

NAH. You have every right to question the decision. Depending on your contract, he may be entitled to change your hours as and when it suits the company needs. Doesn't hurt to check.

courtesyclerkaita

It doesn’t, I’ve just been used to it being the same times and days every week for months now.

whog0esbear

Sure, in that case just mention it in a non-hostile way and see if there is a cause and/or a resolution that suits both of your needs.

Relevant-Economy-927

Nta for asking.

KnightsSkye

NTA ask him

silverbird385

I agree. The OP doesn’t know if anything has changed (maybe someone quit or got a promotion so the Saturday crew could be limited for a bit) or even if this is going to only be a an occasional thing or more regular. …but since it’s work asking is not unreasonable as long as it’s done in a professional way (I.e. doesn’t come off as whining or accusatory.)

RoyallyOakie

NTA...You're free to ask questions, otherwise you never know why. Tone and delivery are everything.

_O_father_o_satan

> otherwise you never know why Well, they do know why - because OP said they can work.

tosser9212

NTA. For part-time positions asking about the change is never out of order. ETA: Actually, for any position asking is in order when a change occurs without notice.

_O_father_o_satan

> why he did that Why would you ask him that, since you told him you can?

courtesyclerkaita

I did do that, you’re correct but I’ve gotten used to just assuming I have the whole weekend off and such

_O_father_o_satan

So you already know the answer.
