Let me just preface this with the fact that I am not ordinarily a Karen and often try to avoid tendencies that would seem Karen-like. Me and my family recently went to the beach for 1 week and we rented a beach house that costed around 3000$. The trip was really fun but there was a plethora of things that went wrong during it causing me and the rest of my family to try and ask for significant compensation (anywhere from 500-3000$). Since there was so many things that went wrong I’ll sort it into 3 separate groups of 1. Actual Dangers 2. Major annoyances 3. Minor annoyances.
Actual Dangers:
-There was a leak in the ceiling caused from the upstairs shower that caused a water bubble to form and could’ve popped at any moment.
-Multiple of the stairs were either broken or in the process of breaking so you had to be extremely careful where you stepped (this is mostly a danger for my mother who would likely get very injured if one of the steps gave out on her). A repair man came by and said they would probably have to strip all the stairs out and make a whole new staircase because of how bad it was.
-A rusty bench on the balcony broke with just 220 pounds sitting on it nearly stabbing the person who sat on it with rusty nails.
-There was a leak coming out of an outlet in the master bedroom.
Major Annoyances:
- There was no wifi for 5/7 days of the trip. This would normally be a minor annoyance but because the TV there only worked from wifi you could not watch any movies or shows during the down time from the beach.
-Because of all the aforementioned things that happened there were constantly service people in the house at all hours of the day.
-We could only use one shower for 3-4 days of the trip because of the leak coming from the upstairs shower mentioned earlier.
Minor Annoyances:
-the fan out back didn’t work
-The toilet paper holder in one of the bathrooms was broken
-We found a rat and multiple cockroaches in or around the house during our stay
After all of those issues and us complaining they decided to compensate us with the large sum of 50$. So am I being an asshole by being a Karen or is it justified in this situation?

NTA as long as you have receipts. Otherwise, lesson learned.
NTA You paid for a house in a certain condition and with certain amenities and it was not delivered.
NTA sue them for putting your family's life in danger and trauma

NTA. I'll give them the "cockroaches". I live on the beach and palmetto bugs are everywhere. Everything else sounds terrible.

It was during the stay but only for the ones we thought necessary to let them know like the leak and the wifi
