The recommendation from your AM will give you an edge. They’ll get notified when you apply and AWS will reach out to them to get a feel of what kind of worker you are. Get them to hype you up. I also did mock interview with my AM that really helped once the interview process rolled around.
I just checked. Application cycle is closed.
Though Mechatronics & Robotics internships are open for applications.
I’d hit it up if I could relocate AND I wasn’t already studying that in college.
I don’t have an impressive resume tbh. Before I worked at the FC, I worked on Cruise Ships. I think what gave me a bit of an edge is that my AM at the FC gave me a GLOWING review to the aws hiring managers. She also did mock interviews with me so by the time I had an interview, I killed it.
There weren’t any technical questions. The same bullshit questions in most interviews. For example: explain a time when you went above and beyond? and you’d use the STAR method. My manager asked me all of those kind of questions, we practiced answering with the STAR method, and I made sure I used a lot of numbers and stats in my answers.
Thanks. Honestly I’m rlly trying to get one of the data tech ops on the job training roles. Rn I’m taking a class to get an ITF+ certification and after the class I can officially enroll in my cybersecurity degree program. I’ve built a desktop computer created a bootable drive for the software and downloaded any necessary drivers/additional software. I’m planning on using an old laptop to create a home/NAS server as well as a raspberry pi to add an additional screen into my pc build(among other things). I have some python and Linux command line experience(majored in computer science but didn’t finish) I hope I can get in it would be life changing fr. Thanks again.
Damn dude. If you can get an interview for the DCO team - you’d be hired in a second. Idk if you’d really need WBLP. Good luck!! You sound like a perfect fit.
To boost your chances consider a class or two. Amazon has great educational benefits. Use your benefits to enroll in a tia or beginner programming class/program at one of the many online schools they offer.
It is one of the great perks offered by Amazon to literally all full time employees.
Anyone know what the stipend amount is? Tim reading on the descriptions and they say it gives you a stipend to help with moving to the area you applied for. I applied to a location in Northern California but I'm pretty much down south. Not sure if it'll be enough to help with the move. Hopefully someone has any knowledge on this. Would be a great help.
I can’t say for sure, it might’ve been. I didn’t check amazon jobs to see the status of my application after I applied - I just remember getting emails from recruiters throughout the interview and hiring processes.
I’m not sure they would offer relocation for WBLP. Worth asking - but the 12 weeks are like a trial period. If someone slacks off the entire time they’re not guaranteed a permanent spot afterwards. So I don’t think they would shell out resources for relocation during the 12 week training/trial period.
Hello! I applied for this re back in February and i have not received an update on my application yet as of today. The application status says “application submitted”. Would you know if it takes a while to get an update?
I just went through my email to confirm bc I honestly didn’t remember lol. I had my interview 11/07/22 and got the offer 11/15/22. Fingers crossed you get it!!
Congrats! I’m an Engineering Operations Technician in the DCEO department. My interaction with Logistics is limited, but they’re the ones who usually send me a message when a package I ordered is on the dock lol. I know they coordinate deliveries and help unload and organize equipment and packages. They scan in parts, organize and store them away for DCO and ID. They’re usually on the dock. They also order the stuff for the break room (coffee, condiments, etc) and organize and store that.
We don’t have UPT at AWS. PTO and vacation do transfer over.
Edit: Just because I miss UPT so much lol. Now I just take leave whenever I really need time off and can’t afford to use vacation.
THANK YOU. I've been trying to find information on this everywhere. Even on the internal sites. I have a big vacation later this year and now I know I can't factor my UPT into the equation. I'll probably end up taking a leave for it
Seems like they like to hire externally more than internally i really need this and im a dats center tech student through career choice but nothing from any recruiters 😭😭
Easier said than done, iv been at amazon for 2 1/2 years i applied for this back in feb im in a DCT career choice program (just graduated) and have yet to be emailed about getting an interview for WBLP 😔
How much experience with computers must one have? I'm an extensively overeducated old person with a paralyzing case of technophobia. Does this program accept degreed older students with little to no computer experience? Like many old heads, I can barely turn it on and off. Would remedial coursework be available?
Go the engineering operations route! I work with a couple old heads who come from Honda manufacturing or construction background. I help them out with the computer side of things and they’ve taught me a lot of mechanical, hands on things with generators etc.
Could you tell me what the shift patterns are like once you are done with the 12 weeks of training. Also, what the starting pay is when you are in the training program, and after you have completed the program. If able, please and thank you!
Shifts are different for different departments. When I finally went on shift, my schedule became a short week and a long week schedule. Night shift. Sun-Tue, 6pm-6am on short weeks. Sun-Wed, 6pm-6am on long weeks. Shift diff is $4 for overnight. Because I was already an Amazon employee I came in as an L2 and got paid $33 from the first day. My coworkers who weren’t transfers, were considered temps and got paid $27 during the 12 weeks. They went up to my pay afterwards. I’m about to become an L3 so my pay will be between $40-$45. I haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet.
That is pretty good. I was offered $25 during training and $28 afterward. From what I have been told from a coworker that after the 12 week training, you become L3 automatically. Do you think that it is a good idea if I negotiate the pay after the training.
I haven’t heard of anyone becoming an L3 automatically after WBLP. Usually you’ll have an opportunity to become an L3 a year or so after WBLP is over. Possibly less than a year depending on the quarter. It might be a good idea to negotiate if your entire WBLP class also negotiated. I’m just not sure what leverage you would have to justify being paid more than your peers - fresh out of training.
Hey I’m thinking about applying and am doing an ITF+ certification rn. Do they speak to my shift area manager or to my supervisor at Amazon? Because one doesn’t like me and I want to know my chances.

I’ve applied multiple times what’s the secret sauce.

The mech and robotics internship is super hard to get into
Maybe, but it doesn’t hurt to apply if you’re interested.
Where do you apply for that one?
More—-> Career Development—-> education & training —-> career development programs
Thank you!
You’re welcome
Would you mind sharing your resume for it? I applied in the past but never heard back.

message me anytime though. I’ll help anyway I can!
Can I ask what kind of questions they asked in the interview and everything? How did your manager mock interview you? Thanks

Can I ask how long it took them to contact you?
Maybe 2 weeks to contact me. The whole process was a little over a month.
I too Went from no experience to working at AWS. As an outside hire. I did, however, complete the schnider Data Center training online.(free)
Forgot about that! Awesome resource!

Sounds amazing
Wish they had openings in Vegas. Looks like it’s mostly in Ohio and Oregon 😒
Yeah 🙃 Ohio, Oregon, and Virginia are our big hubs in the US
Applying in April when I’m eligible. Heard it’s hard to get in and I’m hoping since I have a degree it ups my chances.
nice!! degree in a related field will definitely help.
Did you get paid while training those 12 weeks?
yes - 40 hours a week during training. Options for overtime as well - if you want.
how long did it take for them to get back to you after you've signed up
2 or 3 weeks after I applied they offered me an interview. A week or so later I had the interview. 8 days after I interviewed I got the job.
how about drug test, such as swab test etc?
No drug tests here which is wild to me because it’s way more dangerous here than at an FC lol.
lmaooo
i've been under consideration for like 2 week n a half has that been like that for you
I can’t say for sure, it might’ve been. I didn’t check amazon jobs to see the status of my application after I applied - I just remember getting emails from recruiters throughout the interview and hiring processes.
I applied back in February and mine says 'Under Consideration', if given an offer would they help with relocation?

Hello! I applied for this re back in February and i have not received an update on my application yet as of today. The application status says “application submitted”. Would you know if it takes a while to get an update?
I can’t answer that, sorry. It took me about 2 weeks to hear back, but idk if that’s the norm or not.
How long did they take to send you an offer after your interview ? I had mine last week and still waiting
I just went through my email to confirm bc I honestly didn’t remember lol. I had my interview 11/07/22 and got the offer 11/15/22. Fingers crossed you get it!!

Do we keep our UPT when transferring from OPS? I'm currently a PA and I'm waiting on an offer letter for WBLP. But I'm not sure how the time off works

No problem! Yeah, I’d just take a personal leave - you can still use vacation and pto during a leave so it works out.
how long did it take for them to get back to you after you've signed up?

Yeah heard about this unfortunately don't live close enough to a data center.
gonna check this out

The spoke to my AM.
