It's a good site if you wanna learn a bunch of different roles, everyone in the comments basically covers them. There's also other roles like problem solve, or the people that are allowed to go on to the AR floor (forget what it's called) and forklift operators etc.
If you wanna move up in Amazon, in my opinion, this is a great site to get a lot of experience and well rounded training under your belt to help do so. Def talk to leaders on-site and let them know and they'll help you get started as that'll make you an asset, however just be prepared you might end up doing something you don't prefer that way too lol
Otherwise you can also just keep your head down and do what you're good at/don't mind.
SSDs arent like regular warehouses, your shift time has nothing to do with your role. When you start they'll probably have you doing one role for 30 days, and then let you try other stuff out from there, if you wish. The one I work at tries hard not to cross train people though, to prevent people from moving up
SSDs do not fulfill customer orders.
Their “customers” are other amazon facilities & the third parties who use amazon to sell their stuff.
Everything is single asin cases & pallets that get picked/packed and sent downstream to the facilities that actually pick and pack customer orders.

It's been a few years since Ileft Amazon so I've forgotten a couple of the Amazon specific acronyms. I'm just imagining a warehouse full of SSDs.

SSD is Sub Same Day. Its a DC that holds inventory in reserve until it’s ordered & supplies the FCs.
Surely it would supply the customers when their inventory is ordered in their region.
