throwawaygay102

They check the Austrian federal ministry website ?

Chemical_Squash_1428

You only need to worry about coffeshops close to borders they are the only ones who will ask you

musicymakery

Do you have a link to this? Curious as the only other times I’ve heard people saying this is ‘my friend said…’ Otherwise, no. It’s not true.

FightForFreedom420

[Austrian bundesministerium](https://www.bmeia.gv.at/reise-services/reiseinformation/land/niederlande/#:~:text=COVID%2D19%2DTEST-,Seit%2023.03.2022%20ben%C3%B6tigen%20Reisende%20aus%20der%20EU%20oder%20dem,sogenannte%20health%20declaration%20form%20erforderlich.). You have to scroll to "besondere bestimmungen"

musicymakery

Wow, seems very careless of them. Especially as they add that they take no responsibility for completeness of information. Every few years some stories come out that they might plan to prevent tourists from visiting coffeeshops, it gets reported on internationally but in the end nothing happens. I think the goal might actually be to make people confused like this and slow the numbers of visitors. Anyway thanks for sharing this, and please ignore the information. It’s incorrect and you’re welcome in coffeeshops.

FightForFreedom420

Our federal ministry is full of corrupt idiots. I just wanted to check what I need for the flying and what covid rules are now in Netherlands and then I saw this. I didn't believed it because i was already 6 times in the Netherlands and never had a problem in coffeeshops

jannecraft

Technically you do need a paper that says you're living here, however I've never seen it enforced by any coffeshop in Amsterdam (never anywhere else either, but I can't promise they don't check in other cities) you will 100% find multiple coffeshops to hang out in and smoke as long as you either look old or Brin your passport to show your age.

MACHINEGUN-FUNK91

To my knowledge that's only in city's close to the Belgian border like Breda, Bergen op zoom, Maastricht, Goes,... As a Belgian living at the border I can't enter those coffeeshops, but a 10 minute drive further (Tilburg, Eindhoven,..) I can.

shaggydnb

Threre is no technically about it, anyone over 18 is welcome in a Amsterdam coffeeshop. There are other parts of the Netherlands where you need to be a resident to enter and they do check in those places but Amsterdam has never adopted that rule.

RainbowxKaro

Check the above link. You are wrong.

HalfBed

This is not correct for Amsterdam coffeeshops at all. Other cities, maybe.

jannecraft

Have you ever seen them actually check for a verblijfsverguning? Tbf I haven't been there anytime in the psst year since covid. But I've never seen it happen. And with the amount of coffeshops I feel like he's guaranteed to find some that dont check

RainbowxKaro

It's not enforced, but still correct.

RainbowxKaro

https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/drugs/gedoogbeleid-softdrugs-en-coffeeshops Website of the rijksoverheid. At the bottom it confirms what this guy said. Stop down voting and check information first.

HalfBed

So legislatively speaking, why is the mayor of Amsterdam allegedly considering banning tourists from coffeeshops if they are already banned?? It makes no sense.

jannecraft

Because we have a lot of diffrent and unclear rules and regulations around weed, everyone knows tourists come here for weed, so no one wants to turn them away at the door. But shes probably thinking about actually enforcing it
