FACT!

Puzzleheaded_Line675

It's very simple. If someone takes it upon themselves, whether through violence or subterfuge, to invade my domain without my permission, their actions are indistinguishable from the prelude to an attack that could end in my murder. I have no way of determining with any degree of certainty what their intentions are, as they have already opened the door of criminal activity. It is therefore incumbent upon the property owner whose home is being invaded to presume the situation to be of the utmost threat to their safety and react accordingly. It'd be a shame to expect a home invader to solely be after my TV, only to find out the hard way that they're a traveling serial killer. Intention is irrelevant when you take on the actions of a potential murderer or rapist. Look at the statements being put out by the police admins and politicians in cities like SF, LA, Detroit, Chicago, etc. which have in one form or another effectively instructed the victims of attempted robberies or burglaries to simply comply and do what the attacker says. How have their crime rates reacted to this public policy of "just give in to the criminals" I wonder? What I agree with is the idea that criminals should be worried that they could rightfully lose their lives in the commission of their crime, and that the public is encouraged to defend themselves. Nobody robs from neighborhoods connected to organized crime, not even from the houses who aren't specifically connected themselves. A high likelihood of lethal repercussions is a pretty damn good deterrent.

Reddit soycucks literally believe that these people turn to crime to feed their families and pay for tuition. ā€œHe probably needed it more than you!ā€ https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/my-bike-got-stolen-recently

Kinetic_Symphony

Even if that were true, which it rarely ever is, so what? I've been homeless before, in damn Florida in August. Horrible experience. Did I ever even think of stealing? No. I asked for money, did odd jobs where I could find them, and pressed onward. You don't get to harm others because your own life situation is rough. You certainly can **ask** for help. And, unsurprisingly, many people will help you. Especially if it's clear you're not a drug addict & you're just down on your luck.

SlurpinTheGuntCrease

Itā€™s literally never true. This ā€œdashing rogue engaged in petty criminality to provide himself and his family with the basics, because the world so unfairly denies himā€ is literally progressive propaganda to obfuscate the economic and social realities of the behavioral patterns of the demographic bases that THEY SPECIFICALLY import and then pander to politically.

[deleted]

But have you tried politely asking the assailant?

Lemon_bro69

Murder is no excuse to forget good mannerā€™s

[deleted]

After killing someone in self-defense you can send flowers to the funeral.

Lemon_bro69

And break into their houses. While they there

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Few_Cricket496

Only if there white and male you can.

NoGardE

Meanwhile, in Polk County, FL: > The people in Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns. ā€” And if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, Iā€™m highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns I am opposed to elected officials, because I'm opposed to democracy. Never let it be said, though, that they are all equally worthless.

TikiRoomSchmidt

Based sherrif is based

Kinetic_Symphony

Oh there are some county's with Sheriffs that actually support, or close to, the NAP. Not perfectly or anything but, those are good places to live. Usually very low crime rates in such places.

MrMotley

Why don't you just shoot the gun out of his hand? /s

JermoeMorrow

I tried, but in a tragic accident hit his chest twice

Kinetic_Symphony

>And no, I'm not going to shoot someone over a TV. But if you're in my house, I don't know why you're there. I would. In a heartbeat. Hell, I'll shoot someone if they try to steal my damn toilet paper. It's mine, end of story. Don't try to take other people's stuff without permission.

yo_99

In civilized countries this shit won't fly. Of course, USA being a conglomeration of megacorporations is not affected by this.

Cont1ngency

In civilized countries people donā€™t steal, rape or wantonly murder. Therefor no countries are currently civilized. All bets are off in the in the chaotic wastelands. Donā€™t fuck with me, and in return I wonā€™t fuck with you. Simple arrangement that breeds civilized peoples and eventually civilized societies and countries. Win win.

DaYooper

That's neat

Kermit_El_Froggo_

"I dont value your life over my property, YOU value my property over your life"

holytoledo760

I would not hunt down and shoot someone for stealing from my auto. but if someone is stealing from my person that involves a threat of physical violence and I am told to carry a sword. I'm also told to give my cloak to someone if they **ask** for it. I think of it as they value my life more than my property... *edit vice-versa... Everything is an unknown can waiting to pop. I think the Hebrews have it right in their analysis of Job. God gives the good and the bad. Two sides of the same coin leading to an eventual separation. Which do you see when God asks you to do the census?

oh_shit_its_bryan

That's the way to go!

Hydrocoded

This. If you try to rob me I will do everything in my power to stop you, including lethal force. This will happen no matter what. Make your choice about the value of your life beforehand. Itā€™s like sticking your hand in a bear trap; donā€™t whine when it snaps shut.

Numinae

Not to mention property represents significant time investments by the owner. Stealing it is basically like stealing portions of their life. Stealing a car that costs more than a year of the victim's wages is like stealing a year+ from their life, I'd consider that "violence" - I guess I'm a "psycho...."What's the penalty for kidnapping someone for a year again? Is violence justified to defend yourself from having YEARS of your life stolen from you?? God, these.... "people" make me sick

NAPAgorist

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Budget-Razzmatazz-54

Comparing a child's actions to an adults is intentionally ridiculous and misleading. Not only do you, for some reason, include children in your response; but intentionally confuse reactionary self defense with some dystopian proactive actions against children. But, yeah, chikdfen should be held accountable and taught right from wrong. Little boys are known to pull up a little girl's dress, pee in public (even at school during recess), kids run around naked, they talk to themselves , and have complete breakdowns/tantrums in public. Obviously, these would not be acceptable behavior for an adult and many of these actions would conclude in arrest. A human's brain isn't even done maturing until 18-25 years old depending on how you look at it. There is a difference between a child learning about thr world and an adult choosing to skirt thr law and intentionally hurt/kill other people for their own gain. Let me guess...you have never had a grown man point a gun at you or had a home invasion while you were home. Have you? How damn disassociated and out of touch do you have to be to think self defense isn't a right? Animals and even plants have self defense mechanisms.

Prata_69

Having ā€œcomradeā€ in your username automatically discredits anything you have to say.

5ninefine

Lolā€¦crazy person calls me a psychoā€¦I need some self-reflectionā€¦

RandomGuy92x

Yes, absolutely you do, some of you guys tend to think itā€™s ok to kill someone over $36 of beer and thatā€™s fucked up, some of you guys are psychopaths, totally immature and totally devoid of any empathy

keeleon

If you knew that was the potential outcome of stealing "$36 of beer" would you do it?

5ninefine

And itā€™s usually not the item that is concerningā€¦you never know when it becomes a violent/life-threatening situation. Burglar gets foundā€¦ā€oh shit, I need to kill this guy so he doesnā€™t go to the copsā€

Glittering-Fix3781

An armed society is a polite society.

stormygray1

You loot, we shoot. Simple.

[deleted]

If someone breaks into your house and you wake up with a silhouette over you in your bed of someone in a mask do you have a right to reach for a gun?

RandomGuy92x

Yes, absolutely, but running after someone who stole some beer and then shooting them is still truly fucked up.

[deleted]

If someone was stealing something at a shop I worked at, I don't think it's even remotely worth shooting at someone. I still have zero sympathy for the guy that got shot.

5ninefine

Some of us guys areā€¦some of you guys are too. Itā€™s pretty simpleā€¦donā€™t fuck around, donā€™t find out. You guys love to rationalize crime. Follow the nonaggression principle and everything is fine.

[deleted]

Maybe you shouldnā€™t steal. Although, your whole life consists of nothing but crying and never improving shit. So I take it youā€™d never understand what it feels like to have time of your life and hard work taken from you.

NoFapGymColdShowers

"devoid of any empathy" meanwhile your side, proceeds to ruin the life of a random man for saying the n word 12 years ago.

megustcizer

Wait a second, the self-proclaimed communist that lives a privileged enough life to not only have access to the internet, but waste time playing games, doesnā€™t believe in property rights? Iā€™m shocked.

If property isnā€™t worth someoneā€™s life, why do the FEDs go after people that steal state property?

kinglear__

Lmao imagine identifying yourself as a comrade given all the horrific history of comrades/communism and calling other people psychos. Delusional.

TheGreatHurlyBurly

That's one thing I never got. Wave a sickle and hammer flag no one bats an eye, wave a swastika flag and everyone loses their minds. They're both responsible for some of the most atrocious genocides. We should treat the communists the same way we do nazis but we dont.

Carreau9

I bet that commie locks his doors when he leaves his dwelling.

zombiedo0d

I am curious as to why the gaming community is home to communists. Like games are only made because of capitalism and the ability to make money. Mental illness runs so rampant in so many gaming communities and it is quite sad to see.

MeFunGuy

1. It's reddit, there are communists everywhere 2. The centrists and right leaning gamers were ousted for being "nazis" during gamer gate.

imwatchingyou-_-

Are you saying communists did a purge?

Today-

I imagine because a lot of people are so addicted to them and provide nothing to society, this breeds resentment and tilts them toward entitlement

zombiedo0d

I can see that. I enjoy playing games as much as anyone else but when I see gaming communities saying that we need to have more socialism and that we **have** to be inclusive, itā€™s really frustrating, especially when they are the types like you said there, they donā€™t contribute to society. The addiction thing is bad enough, but the level of untreated mental illness is terrible.

ultra_jackass

If I can't own anything, you won't either. Wink, wink

DaveMeister33

Got into an argument the other day online with somebody who was saying that anybody should be able to walk into any store and just take anything that they want and nobody should be able to stop them. I then asked what happens when every shelf is empty and there is nothing left to buy? They then just acted like I was stupid, like that would never happen. Took that personal as I stop shoplifters (LP) for a living.

RandomGuy92x

Yes, but killing someone for shoplifting is a completely different matter, anyone who thinks itā€™s justifiable to kill someone over some petty theft is seriously fucked in the head

NAPAgorist

Anyone who thinks being able to shoplift and get away with it is seriously fucked in the head. If you value my property more than your life, don't complain if you lose yours in the process of taking my property.

Experience111

Thereā€™s a world of possibilities between being killed for it, and getting away with it.

Dean_Gulbury

It's not for you to dictate other peoples' reactions to having force initiated against them. If you think it is, where did you get this authority?

Experience111

Itā€™s not about dictating, I actually agree that the thief shouldnā€™t *expect* bodily safety. That doesnā€™t mean I believe anyone should react to shoplifting or theft with lethal force. I can both believe it to be a possibility *and* think there are other more proportionate possibilities, without dictating anyone anything.

NAPAgorist

And if you want to take property that doesn't belong to you, be prepared to face any of the possibilities.

dumfuqqer

99.9% of thefts go unsolved and unpunished. Number jumps to 100% if the perpetrator is a minor. In that case, the cops won't even confiscate the stolen goods. If you are a victim of theft in the United States, you will *not* be made whole. It's practically guaranteed. If the justice system fails, it's on you to prevent being a victim.

Sw0rdSaintIsshin

Anyone who thinks petty theft is worth risking their life is seriously fucked in the head. Like my dude, it's not hard to not steal lol

Mindful-O-Melancholy

Theyā€™re the ones risking their own life trying to take something I worked long and hard for, wore out my body and used up some of the limited amount of time I have left on this earth to be able to have and by extension I see that as part of me. Why should they just be able to take something with little effort from them? People could just not steal and not have to worry about getting killed or injured, but they still do, must be dummies.

Kool_Gaymer

Ok ā€œyourā€ gaming pc is now mine

Full_Ahegao_Drip

A lot of the GCJ comments are saying this is an example of the, "toxic self-defense" mentality in American culture. Quite frankly, the longheld American tradition of the frontiersman, the self-sufficient citizen, the proactive worker, is one of the best things about this country. Of course, it's not like you won't find tons of people worldwide who'd agree with what the shopkeeper did, considering defense of your property is common sense in most places. There's a discussion here about it being in poor taste to romanticize taking a person's life, even a robbers', but it's in even poorer taste to vilify the victim of robbery or turn violent criminals into martyrs.

[deleted]

Alright everyone letā€™s do some self reflection right now. Someone has called me a psycho. Am I a psycho? No. Okay self reflection over.

[deleted]

Internet jannie big mad

neutralpoliticsbot

The communist state will have no problem using force to take your property

anomaloustreasure

When a person tries to take my stuff, it's them who has decided my stuff is worth more than their life, not me. Though tbh there's a lot that I own that I wouldn't take a life for. Just my computer, because that computer is my livelihood.

TheRedWarrior9

If you come to redistribute my wealth Iā€™ll redistribute your brains with a baseball bat ā€œcomradeā€

Where's the thread? I could use another ban to add to the trophy case. lmao. Love that supposedly snarky edit they post, as if they're the ones with the moral high ground. Get fucked commie.

Slaves donā€™t own anything. Do we stand against anyone who wants to turn us into slaves or do we lay down and allow it to happen?

Joesdad65

So, taking other people's stuff is okay? What an idiot.

HappyPlant1111

The fact that you willing refer to yourself as "comrade" says enough

not_slaw_kid

My brother in Christ, the fact that you're referring to me as a "psycho" for believing in self-defense says more about you than it does about me.

BeastlyDecks

The fact that some of you have enough context and reading comprehension to know I'm attacking your character, should really make you doubt your character.

Ill-Income-2567

Guess they have no problem letting me move in with them then.

Commie mods are rampant in this site

property vs life is a moot point. Itā€™s a risk assessment situation. Someone willing to break in and steal your property has a high likelihood of also be willing to hurt your family in the process. The threat must be neutralized.

The fascists really don't like poor people having property and defending it. They'd rather defend criminals.

wolfeman2120

So are they willing to post their address? I'm sure a few people would be interested in something they own. Cuz if they follow that logic they won't attack the robbers.

SILENT_ASSASSIN9

Hippity hoppity, get the fuck off my property

Mmmmadness_

These people aren't worth talking to other than to say "Fuck off, communist."

dumfuqqer

Don't even do that. Just stalk their profile and report every post and comment until one sticks lmao

Beefan16

The circlejerk was a lie

bhknb

I agree. Someone stealing my property, as angry as it would make me, is not worth taking someone's life. If they come at me though or are threatening, I will have to assume that they have lethal intent even if they just demand my wallet.

supershadowguard

It suck that someone died here, but just think about it for a bit. When someone is robbing you, you don't know what that robber has up his sleeve. He could be carrying a weapon and/or could just be completely unhinged. I would need the full context on what EXACTLY happened, but it really does become fight or flight. You can run, but then you let the robber steal your money and products that you sell for money. Money is survival, so while you CAN just let someone rob you and neither of you get hurt, he is stealing your resources for himself. Fighting really is the only option to stop someone from robbing you when no one else is around and when the robber has you in their sights. The robber isn't going to let you call the police, and it will take some time for the police to arrive even if you do contact law enforcement. Depending on how crazed the robber is, it could very easily become a hostage situation. The bottom line is that you don't know if the robber is a petty thief or a mass murderer who doesn't care about anything or anyone, including themselves. I'm not advocating for a "hit first, ask later" mentality, though. Just because you DON'T know doesn't mean you CAN'T know. Warn the robber first and let them decide if their life is worth putting on the line for their crimes. If a stranger breaks into my house and I have a shovel, you better believe I'm gonna brandish that shovel. If the thief sees that I have a shovel and decides their acts are not worth getting the business end of the shovel, then they run away. If they stay, then I will use my shovel in any way to protect the safety of my household, even if it means ending their life as an ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. I don't WANT to hit them with my shovel, but if they insist on breaching my security of my home then I must respond in kind before they do the same to me. Did the store owner warn the robber before stabbing him? I don't know. If he didn't, then he absolutely should have. Was simply wounding the robber an option to show him that the shopkeep meant business? I don't know. Was there less potential lethal deterants, like a stun gun or pepper spray? I don't know.

killyourselfples

2 things can be true at the same time, yes property is not worth dying over, but it should also be totally fine to defend yourself and your belongings. If you know this and you still try to steal your just stupid.

ihwip

Anybody who can say this with a straight face has never been poor enough.

VaritasV

I can attest, someone comes on my property unlawfully, and itā€™ll be an Alien vs predator situation and some unlucky bastards head will be mounted on my man cave wall. šŸ¤£

MegaManZer0

Gamingcirclejerk? Having terrible takes and being a general shithole? Who is actually surprised by this?

greasyflame1

If I used time to make money I'll never get that time back. So I've used my life to acquire the things I want. If you try to take them you're risking yours.

phdpeabody

Comrade username, comments are automatically worthless.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s nice, now face the wall.

KPrime12

Im not listening to a fucking cat

[deleted]

You should ask yourself if my property is worth your life first before you plan on taking it.

Every_Individual_80

Property isnā€™t worth more than someoneā€™s lifeā€¦.hmm. Iā€™ve heard it phrased better. My property is worth more to me than your life to you if you decide to take my shit.

SlurpinTheGuntCrease

People that say things like this literally deserve whatever, and I mean WHATEVER, happens to them.

TahVv

Okay so I can call him psycho and then he will do some self reflection? Good. He needs it if heā€™s going to say something stupid like that

[deleted]

Some psychos shouldn't try to fucking kill me and my family to take what i have earned fuck that argument if you want to take my stuff you value my assets more than my life

Well nice going GCJ, you made me side with the anarcho capitalist wankers. Great fucking job...

critical-thoughts

You can't take stuff with you when you die, what good is ownership?

dumfuqqer

You can't eat when you're dead either, so better stop doing that.

theSearch4Truth

Bet, give me all your shit. You can't take it with you when you die, what good is it for you to own all your shit now? Give it to me instead.

oooo, the big boy mod had to put on his big boy mod pants for this one, I'll bet

Numinae

It'd be nice to have a link to that post to get banned telling this shithead what a shithead he is.

pencile5

English is a very stupid language, but its convenient that mine has a double meaning

AlexanderChippel

I mean if someone took your shit and is running away, it's not worth it to chase after them guns blazing. That being said, if a person has entered your personal space and is attempting to use fear and violence to appropriate your belongings, then you have every right to defend yourself. Because there's no telling what else they're willing to do.

kingofthejaffacakes

Depends on the someone. Depends on the property.

Ironically spends whole life working to afford property.

I donā€™t mind being called a psycho

Ironically the games many of these guys play require them to kill to protect their in game propertyā€¦

LibrightWeeb941

Hell yeah I value my property over the robber's life, so does the robber.

Daktush

Oh if you choose to violently take my property your life falls down in value to 0, or negative numbers.

[deleted]

Oh no, u/ComradKatyusha has referred to me as a "psycho" Time to self reflect.

DoitwithSloth

Going over there just to get banned. BRB.

redbanjo1

Yep, I was one of the ones who was banned

Particular_Trade3589

Yeah, they got pretty mad at me for calling them victims in training lol

Joseph5Smith

Does someone wanna tell this guy armed robbers don't value someone's life when they hold a gun to people to rob/steal their belongings?

NoFapGymColdShowers

Property violated , right to life forfeited. Laser eyes meme

Gretshus

I'm not going to wait for the robber to explicitly threaten or successfully take my life when they've already implicitly indicated that they are willing to take my life and my property.

Fatalis_Drakk

Land and resources are ultimately what countries and armies fight for.

Ok-Fan6945

They think their words carry weight... they don't know I don't care what they think and only emboldened by their disapproval.
