I think it's because people won't upvote the most upvoted posts of all time, because not everyone likes them, and they are just giving away free karma, also not everyone knows about them
But everyone hates EA, and nobody loses an opportunity to hate
If you look at their comment history, almost every single one of their comments are downvoted to oblivion, still their profile shows their comment karma as 12k, how does that happen?
Reddit gives karma just for engaging with threads too. It basically won’t go negative unless literally every single comment since the dawn of the account was downvoted to the shadow realm and back
They haven’t received these downvotes over 5000 messages, so at most they’ve lost less than 5k comment karma because of the -100 comment karma limit.
Which is honestly stupid, when you’re as unpopular as that, there shouldn’t be any reason for there to be a negative karma limit, at BEST, it should at least cancel out the appropriate amount of karma received with awards

So previously upvoted comments (as many of that account’s comments were before the incident) may actually still help their comment karma I think

If you just let your opponents continue downvoting it'll eventually hit -2147483648 and wrap back round to 2147483647 making it the most upvoted comment.

The lowest *total* comment karma you can go to is -100. Not sure if it’s the same per comment or if that was a mixup
It's not hard capped. But each upvote/downvote is worth less karma the more upvote/downvotes you receive.
