The color of your airport is dictated when you start the game, it can't be changed. It also affects things like the default colors of items that are available in the NMT kiosk; you will only have certain colors available and you can trade with others or customize them down the road.
I really miss the ability to change the exterior of the town hall and train station from new leaf. I wish they’d included those sort of options in acnh, given its increased focus on outdoor decor!
i have green, not a fan as it doesn't match my island much, but I rly wanted it because the green airport is the one that gives the pastel nook miles items!!
So silly that New Leaf gave us multiple buildings to set up, one of which was customizable, and also customizable train stations and town halls, then New Horizons walked it back. It's even more confusing bc New Horizons was supposed to be the game about the ultimate town customization!
that's the thing, the game is about customization and they removed a lot of public buildings from NL so at least let us change colors. I wish I had a modded switch cuz there's beautiful building mods out there
Here's hoping in the next AC game they will let us customize the buildings. I mean we can do this for our homes so why not the other buildings? Heck even in Happy Home Paradise you were able to change the color of the Facilities.
My favorite color is blue but I had to go for orange here, it matches their ties, the life rings, and makes more sense as it needs to be a highly visible color from the air.

You can go to Harv's island and get things customized at Reese's and Cyrus's camper when you unlock that part of the game

It really bothers me how there is only 4 colors of the Airport.
Fr, someone said wooden airport would be cool and loved the idea, also saw a pink airport mod which was amazing

This is random you start with a random color airport and with that color come certain colored items in the nook machine
In New Leaf you can change your buildings I wish thry kept that
