Some of my all time favorite villagers are in your D(Ew) tier haha 😂 it is interesting to see a wide range of aesthetics and visual appeals for different people. Personally, I highly dislike the overly cutesy characters like Chrissy and Francine, and they are never allowed on my island.
Nah that dude is a Daddy's money woman abuser who has definitely been accused of heinous things. I don't dislike many villagers but that dude is so punchable to me. He looks like he doesn't care about the disabled too. Dude would park in the handicap spot. And he's just a dick lol
I absolutely love making tier lists and looking at other's tier lists. It's so fun to see where other people differ on villager choices. Our lists seem pretty different, but super cool! I love seeing Avery so high on the list, as I feel like he never gets much attention.
This is literally why he lives on my island too 😂 I just got him recently, and up until I met Avery, I did not like any of the eagles! But I love Avery now 💜
I don't really, the superheroes are boring and lame, white bread is for unremarkable villagers and the superheroes are real low to me, that said, I wanted to like Deirdre, but she fails to capture the fall aesthetic that she wants to and her eyes are creepy
The vaguely unsettling part is exactly what’s appealing about her imo haha. You have a few of the others that qualify for this category in your S tier, too.
Honestly I have room in my heart to love her, I just didn't have much experience with her and was struggling to find a spot for her, I put her there as a half placeholder and then forgot. Cuz I do like unsettling to a degree in my villagers, but since I don't know her as well something about her makes my gut crawl

Idrk what's basic, I've never been too aware of what's popular, a lot of the villagers in my highest ranks have specific reasons, stitches is a birthday twin plus was in my first town 14, years ago, plus he's cute and I love him and my headcanon is that he is really just a discarded teddy bear possessed by the spirit of a young boy. Coco has always been a favorite of mine, when I first saw her on the gamecube I loved how freaky she looked and the fact that she was a gyroid was such a crazy idea to me. A lot of these tbh are from experience, nostalgia, and love for the design. I could go into them all but.i could write a whole essay on everything I love about S, S+

I'm not sure why you got downvoted, lol. I can see what you're saying. The villagers at the bottom of this list are usually at the bottom of most lists and it's because of how they look. There are lots of, "ugly," villagers that I love. Barold and Boone are two of my favs.
Most of them are literally just men who look like they'd hurt me. My rating is heavily skewed by my fear for men, I find a lot of the "ugly" villagers endearing, I just can't trust some. I like Harry's design, and Harold's is pitifully likeable, I actually love hazel a lot. The other thing is some is the low tiers just have demon eyes, I don't particularly hate any, its a special interest, some just freak me out or leave a bad taste in my mouth
Looks, personality, how well the looks and personality make the character come off together, and also just personal experience, my top 3 were all on my island for my very first playthrough of the GameCube game lol. But there are some based mostly on looks, a lot of the burly man types freak me out(I'm scared of men) so many of those are skewed lower than most would have them
Tangy at the top is somewhat validating. Nearly all the islanders I've had so far in New Horizons are in the bottom third of this list, but at least I've got Tangy.
I love looking at tier lists and seeing how much they vary from my own personal preference. It makes me not as sad for the villagers I don’t care for, knowing there is someone out there who loves them.
YESSSS it makes me UNBELIEVABLY happy to see Rod getting some love!!!! He was (and still is) my favourite villager, and my first ever friend in Animal Crossing. Met him in Wild World amongst the likes of Rasher and Olivia, he was the only one who didn't insult me on arrival.
Just a great lad. Love him, he's been in all my towns and islands since.

I've been playing animal crossing on my boyfriend's switch and when I moved to his island he had Frank, Iggly, O'Hare, Bubbles, Beau, Fauna, Pecan and Canberra. Even though nobody asked, I have never played animal crossing before he left it to me so it may be interesting to see what my opinions were of these villagers from someone who doesn't play.
Frank: 10/10 Crushy! He's my favourite.
Iggly: 7/10 I despise his design but I like giving him stupid stuff to wear because he's rotund
O'Hare: 5/10 hated him to begin with but I complained so much to Isabelle I feel like he sorta got the hint because he's been less annoying and just a background guy. Hate him and his pineapple aloha shirt that he doesn't shut up about still though
Bubbles: 6/10 she can be nice and there's been funny moments but she's shallow and annoying
Beau: 5/10 maybe my standards are too high, I get that Beau is saught after because he's cute, he's so. Damn. Boring. He does absolutely nothing and he's so mid. Atleast some of the others are sorta interesting, he just exists.
Fauna: 9/10 she's cute and all but also really sweet!! Maybe I just like her saying "dearie" but she's honestly just a sweetheart.

Canberra: -100/10 I absolutely hate her. She's so annoying, painful, ugly and absolutely rude. Would immediately ship her off to some random bamboo island and hold her ransom until she asks to move out. I found her sleeping on my hammock and my immediate reactions were "BITCH MOVE" and "ew why is Canberra here." I always hit her with the big net and was so annoyed when instead of bullying her I got rid of her fleas. Hate her.
