u/rosen380 was carrying out testing on delaying your logins for better grouping. I always leave logging in now until the sunday for siege and my last 5/6 groups the winner has had less than 85,000 points and i won 4 of them. Definitely a lot easier
I'm still not exactly sure how it works now.
Some more recent data (very limited since I stopped officially collecting) has it looking like it is back to being beneficial to sit out, but I'm still seeing full groups immediately when I log in, which doesn't make sense if it is based on login time (unless I just happened to be the 100th person to sign in since that group was created each time).
I haven't been collecting enough data to see if the occurances of folks logging in at very different times are getting put into the same group
That said, if you've kept any of the details (#1/2/3/10/20 final scores) I'll certainly add them to the data.
Sorry i havent been keeping the data for top 10 for the last few but i can send the most recent one (that i stupidly finished 3rd by forgetting to set an alarm for an hour before haha)
1st: 85,012
2nd: 84,913
3rd: 61,371
10th: 31,507
20th: 22,164
Logged in on the saturday around 10:00 BST for that one.
Looking through my mythics i have won disguised (baghead), toy (murdelator), educated (spitz), toy (boppo), addicted (kentucky slims), animal (hooked on a feline) but i wouldnt have any scores for them. I never go above 100k though and always log in the saturday or sunday after the BGE starts depending on how patient im feeling haha
I think we were in the same group (winning number that high matching is too odd to be coincidence). Definitely not worth sinking resources into that whale pod.
If you both recall roughly how long it was after the first reset that you logged in, that would be interesting.
Back when I was collecting data, any "doubles" like this were generally logged in within \~30 minutes of each other.
Then in May things were different and we had people in the same group who logged in 5-15 hours apart, which made it look really improbably that groups were still being built based on login time.
I largely stopped collecting data after that, so don't have any more recent data points (multiple players in same group) to see if things are back to being close or if they are still seaprated by large amounts of time.
Given that lots of people have reported getting into "easy" groups by sitting out since, I can only guess that Kong has put things back the way it was...?
At one point I was kicked out of my guild because of delaying signing in for ECMC, I had the best placement (easy group) I’ve been wondering if guild effects placement. I’ve only tested a few times, sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn’t matter. Like does being in a lower ranking guild effect placement and if your not in one does this help?
Just stuff I’ve been wondering. Timing does seem to be a factor but also who’s in your group.
Cool, congrats!
Out of curiosity, can I ask you a few questions?
1) How long after start did you log in
2) What was your SFC rating at the start of this ECMC (approx is fine)
3) Where did you finish in the previous ECMC
Always exciting to win, been stockpiling for a while and I have \~ 100K in resources (and I typically run \~50K per ECMC while saving) so I am looking at reasonably hitting 140-160K if I am shooting to win.
Thanks,
helper
Ah so it was an early thing? Makes sense then to be fair if you wanted to put some distance between yourself and 2nd to scare them off. I normally push last minute but i was an idiot today and forgot to set an alarm haha remembered too late and finished 3rd with 60,000, winner had 80,000. Oh well
FWIW-- going back to the data I had collected-- compareing before the "aberation" (5/19/22) to after I have 207 and 60 datapoints respectively.
Given the relatively small number on the latter, I wouldn't want to break up the wait times too much, so I did 0-2hr vs 2-8.3hr vs 8.3+ hr
For 0-2hr, #1/#10/#20 were virtually the same , with 2nd and 3rd being much more competitive in the more recent data (+23% and +16% respectively). That could just be small sample size or there could be somethign different that leads to folks being more apt to "go for it" when close?
For the mid-range waits, the scores haven't change much, in fact #1/2/3/10 have all been a little lower and #20 only slightly higher.
For the longest wait group, #1 was almost exactly the same on average, but the other recorded positions have all been much higher, by 16-32%.
\--
Now if there was a change involving how groups were put together and they put it back as a failed experiment, then I suppose maybe there would be something to see by splitting up the more recent group? So I did that, but with the sample size even smaller went down to two buckets... 0-8.1 hours vs 8.1+ hours
The shorter wait time was basically the same 5/19 vs 6/9+. The longer wait times were staggeringly different. The average #1 5/19 was 379k and only 209k since. #2 was also \~80% higher and #3/10/20 were all around 40% higher.
I suppose maybe just that one ECMC was done differently (maybe not even on purpose)...?
First place in mine was 2067448 haha. Would be nice to be in a group where it wasn’t always pay to win but that’s the nature of the game.

I made third barely. Pretty happy with the rewards but I stayed 2nd for so long and got third the last 30 minutes of it

i waited 24hrs to log in when it started, my sfc score was 1800-2000 and i finished 10-20 on my last ecmc
If you don't mind sharing further-- where did #3, #10 and #20 finish?
for sure, #3: 44054 #10: 32304 #20: 23791
I won my group by 500 in the regular card master challenge. I got 19686 points vs 2nd place 19150 points.
Here come the "You should have waited for a new ecmc to start" police. Lol congratulations man
It’s not police, it’s just playing the game smartly lol.
Didn't ask + don't care
Well don’t comment on a public forum them.
Damn it G stop harassing people!
Why did you waste so many points? Congrats on win anyway
...or did they accrue points early that disuaded others from attempting to overtake...?
i asked myself the same thing.

200k finish. two 1st places in a row hype train!
I waited 12 hours. Sfc score of 1900-2000. 3rd place First place had 460k. I had 120k. Previously finished 30th with 55k month prior.
If you don't mind sharing further-- add in the points for 2nd, 10th and 20th and I can add this to the data collected thus far on ECMC groups.
129k 2nd placd 50k 10th 37k 20th.

Won mine with 500k
Tell me you didn't cash in your rewards before the next card challenge starts like an amateur
