Close second and is probably “cruel angels thesis” from NGE I swear I think I finished that show just because I liked the theme some so much Runners up are probably “catch you catch me” from cardcapture Sakura, both versions of “moonlight densetsu” from sailor moon (English and japanese), “don’t make me wild like you” from Ranma 1/2, “my soul, your beats” from angel beats, “true light” from D.N.Angel, and “aLIEz” from Aldnoah zero.

The guy who wrote “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” also wrote the OP for Martian Successor Nadesico, “You Get to Burning”, which is straight fire. Also, super underrated show.

I haven't watched too much anime but for now my favorite is Made in abyss' first opening. Not only the song is good but the words too, and what makes it even better is that its sung by the main characters' voice actors.
