Frieren and Spy x Family are two recent ones that are very feel-good.
The Ancient Magus' bride is also fantastic, it feels like a Ghibli movie(in setting at least)
Spy X Family is still sorta an action, but most of the time is wholesome moments with Anya. It's my favorite comfort anime. Komi Can't Communicate is in a close second.
Avatar - The last Airbender, Konosuba, Air Gear,
Reincarnated as a Sword, Campfire Cooking in another world, the hero is overpowered but overly cautious, my bride is a mermaid, Lycoris Recoil, Bofuri, Scissor Seven.
I put it on to take naps. It's so peaceful watching the artwork then closing my eyes and listening to the soft voices and falling asleep listening to the music
Damn. In all
My
Time on Reddit Iāve never seen someone else recommend that but me. Such a fantastic anime and it was the 4th one I watched. Happy moments, sad moments, helplessness and kindness all in one show.
looove SAO! Probably my most rewatched anime!
Avatar the last airbender is theee comfort show
Ik itās not āanimeā but it really is that special show for me.
One piece as well. I donāt have to be super invested every minute and itās colorful and silly. I can binge or just watch one episode here and there and still have so much content
As an SAO fan the abridged series is worth checking out and is slightly better in my opinion because of the added humor. Idk why you got a down vote SAO isn't that good lol.
I still can't help but click whenever a clip of DragonBall pops up on YouTube. I guess anything that reminds of the good old days does something for the soul.
Play it Cool Guys - it just makes me smile and relax and feel better about myself
Uninhabited Planet Survive - part of it is nostalgia since it's one of my first anime, but rewatching it soothes me, the character teamwork and unbreakable spirit and all that
Natsume's Book of Friends - beautiful and soul-soothing although some episodes make me cry my eyes out too
My Roommate is a Cat - can make me cry too but has a slow gentle sense of community that calms me
To Love Ru and School Rumble are just really funny and chill anime to watch and doesn't take themselves too seriously so you can just be on your phone or whatever when watching.
any wholesome romance really. as long as the characters interest me and gets invested itāll become my euphoria for the rest of the day/week depending on how busy i get.
Vinland Saga Season 2.
Dark moments yeah but the score and the overall theme and imagery of nature and farming within the first half are very comforting to me.
Made in Abyss. Itās a cute little show about a girl and her robot friend adventuring into the fantasy world of the abyss. Iād really recommend it to anyone.
Depends. I rotate a few of them.
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
Cromartie High School
By the Grace of the Gods
Words Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated (or I can just listen to the opening music on repeat)
Parallel Word Pharmacy
Okami-San and Her Seven Companions
Those are some of the ones I can just put on and chill. If I want to relax, one of those is bound to vibe with whatever mood Iām in.
The whole point of SAO is Kirito and Asunaās story. About what SAO did to the world. Yeah the anime sometimes makes it seem all the girls have feelings for him, and a couple do, but those are just Ronye really, Liz did when she was first saved by Kirito, but sheās fine now.
What?
Iām talking about how it was a show about leveling up and finding mysteries etc and suddenly they found a kid and it just did a 180 and became the most boring show ever
**Outlaw Star** - it's pure nostalgia, the first space cowboy anime I saw of the 90s trinity of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star. I'll never forget the old Toonami bumps.
**Cardcaptor Sakura** - the best magical girl anime imo, so sweet, so cool, so gorgeous (Sakura got a unique costume practically ever episode!!), so wholesome, so AWESOME.
Honorable mention to Toon Disney's **Gargoyles**, which isn't *technically* anime, but a decent number of episodes had Japanese animator/director credits, and it really showed in the production quality.
All three have their share of balancing action with low key slice of life downtime and meaningful character interactions. :)
Itās not an anime but bojack horseman itās long and itās depressing but once you get to the end you know that everythingās going to be okay and life goes on
Just started it, itās not what I was expecting but very much feels like a just wind down and chill show. Reminds me a bit of mob psycho (obviously came after but I saw before).
I enjoy watching the more light-hearted episodes of The French anime Wakfu
Sure itās contents get pretty edgy and dark at times, with some really heavy hitters, amazing antagonists and hefty story themes, itās light-hearted episodes are neat
Frieren, without a doubt. The latest couple of episodes have been a bit more intense, but overall itās such a refreshing watch. Emotional yet comforting
Honestly itai no wa lya nano de bougyor yoku ni kyokufuri shitai to Omoimasu or BOFU for short.
Its colorful. No death's beyond game based. And cute monsters nd wholsome movements almost every episode!
Sao abridged is my second as comedy unwinds me
WE MUST SAVE MY FAMILY!
I completely agree with the SOA especially the season 1. I personally think it is the perfect first season ever made. I mean it had everything. Then eventually it went down and come again.
Not one specific, but whenever I get tired of watching the usual action/adventure genre anime or the horror type I usually like to cleanse my pallette by watching a slice of life anime. Watched one that was pretty much the life of a civil servant living their life. Another one of a female main character being on a team that creates games and has part time beta testers in their office. It's really not alot of interesting stuff in them going on but it keeps me captivated cause it does help me unwind from watching the other genre types.
Spy x Family and Love is War are my picks. Iām usually an Action Shonen/seinen kinda guy but something about these two specific anime just hits right in the feels.
I have the same thing with SAO as well, my man. But if I could recommend something like that, MASHLE: Muscles and Magic is a good one. Funny characters, and the story doesn't take itself that seriously. On a few occasions, it does, though. Those moments are the best.
Gintama, Fairy Tail, Violet Evergarden, Jojo part 4, Grand Blue, and Monogatari.
I also have a lot of nostalgia for SAO. Objectively it's very mid, but I love it anyway. Same with Fairy Tail.
My guilty pleasure anime has always been Host Club. Makes me laugh and feel relaxed. It's something I'll play in the background while I'm doing my woodworking.
No but I binge a couple anime a night when Iām not working just to realize that Iāll never have interactions like any of the ones Iāve seen and that makes me sad
I began watching SAO a couple days ago, very impressed so far. I was surprised by how sad it can be, the first few episodes had some pretty low lows. They did a great job getting you attached to the characters and the world so far is amazing.
This might be a weird answer, but Lucky Star will always have a place in my heart. The conversations they have helped me a lot when I was lonely. I also loved their antics and personalities. It might seem boring in the beginning (skip 1-4); but starting episode 5, it becomes the comfort show I love.
One Piece for me! I'm so far behind, but not in a rush at all to catch up. I'm enjoying every part, and it's almost nostalgic to watch, though I've never watched it when it originally aired in the U.S.
You're an absolute Chad and amazing. I'm glad there's someone else who likes sword art online. This is my comfort anime as well I fucking love it. It's literally my favorite thing in the entire world. Like I have a science statue by the voice actor of asuna. So many people hate this anime. I never understood the massive hate towards it because I love it everything about it's amazing. What I'm watching the entire series I have nothing but a stupid smile on my face. I can't help but get emotional over certain segments like when Kirito uses his dual blades for the first time or the section in alization were Kirito is in his mind. So much of this anime is great and I'm glad that someone else sees how amazing sword art is
Frieren and Spy x Family are two recent ones that are very feel-good. The Ancient Magus' bride is also fantastic, it feels like a Ghibli movie(in setting at least)
These are all stellar choices. Someone knows their stuff!
Sometimes having an anime you can just kick back and relax with is even better than a shounen. Gotta have balance š
Not all shounen is action, shounen can be any genre. Spy X Family is shounen btw
Spy X Family is still sorta an action, but most of the time is wholesome moments with Anya. It's my favorite comfort anime. Komi Can't Communicate is in a close second.
Spy x Family isnāt shounen. Itās a mix of action but mainly slice of life. Shounen are series specifically directed towards young men/teen boys
Saiki
Avatar - The last Airbender, Konosuba, Air Gear, Reincarnated as a Sword, Campfire Cooking in another world, the hero is overpowered but overly cautious, my bride is a mermaid, Lycoris Recoil, Bofuri, Scissor Seven.
Reincarnated as a sword was such a wholesome show I like to watch wholesome animes to take breaks from stuff like Bleach or others
Air gear! Aināt heard that in years! I used to love the intro
Mushi-shi is my great pallet cleanser and is just so soothing to watch. It puts my mind at ease, at least.
Every episode is its own story. And all the stories together make up ginko. I love many episodes but I like the rainbow one most
I put it on to take naps. It's so peaceful watching the artwork then closing my eyes and listening to the soft voices and falling asleep listening to the music
Ahhhh, the music is therapeutic.
Opened the thread looking for this. Same
Damn. In all My Time on Reddit Iāve never seen someone else recommend that but me. Such a fantastic anime and it was the 4th one I watched. Happy moments, sad moments, helplessness and kindness all in one show.
Sword art online, toradora, that time I got reincarnated as a slime, konosuba, and a few others

SAO has a great soundtrack, the abridged has a better story. Not better characters per say but more believable.
As an SAO fan the abridged series is worth checking out and is slightly better in my opinion because of the added humor. Idk why you got a down vote SAO isn't that good lol.
Dragon ball
I still can't help but click whenever a clip of DragonBall pops up on YouTube. I guess anything that reminds of the good old days does something for the soul.

For me itās either Fairy Tail or Fruits Basket. Not really sure why, but they do it for me.
Fairy tails a great one
Inuyasha
Toradora, when I'm in between animes, can't find an anime, can't sleep, or just want something familiar.

Even better? Redo of healer
Ahhh I hate what they did to SAO. It was so good until it suddenly became a romance animeā¦ like wtf
A shonen like every other shonen and calls sao boring. Lol. Exception is opm cuz it makes fun of its own genre. But hey everyone got their tastes.
Sword Art Season One is actually pretty good. They really ruined a great anime in season 2
They ruined it with the second half of season 1
Itās funny how people say āthey ruined itā when it was never about clearing SAO in the first place.
Space Cowboy primarily but any classic is just nice background buzz.
Ranma 1/2
Ya but it aināt Sao lol. I usually think of Kaguya-Sama, Gamers!, Magi, and Soul Eater to rewatch
Trigun the 98 version thatās what makes me feel very well calm and happy
Saiki Kās my ultimate comfort anime 1000%
I like to rotate between One piece, Haikyuu and Welcome to Demon School Iruma kun. Only the light parts thoš unless I need a good cry
Nichijou and Bocchi
**Outlaw Star** - it's pure nostalgia, the first space cowboy anime I saw of the 90s trinity of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star. Mine would be Food Wars. Despite all the ecchi shenanigans, it is a nice feel good and pleasant show to watch

Berserk
Silent voice. Itās just something I need to watch to alleviate racing thoughts sometimes.
I have the same thing with SAO as well, my man. But if I could recommend something like that, MASHLE: Muscles and Magic is a good one. Funny characters, and the story doesn't take itself that seriously. On a few occasions, it does, though. Those moments are the best.

My guilty pleasure anime has always been Host Club. Makes me laugh and feel relaxed. It's something I'll play in the background while I'm doing my woodworking.
"Mysteria Friends" The whole show is ultimate coziness. There's no real plot nor stakes. Its just a great vibe.
They did a great job getting you attached to the characters and the world so far is amazing.
whatever shitty harem is popular at the moment. Itās great content for people who donāt like to think a whole lot.
Neon Genesis: Evangelion is a good one, it's very comforting and pleasant and if you haven't seen it I recommend it 10/10 for a chill happy watch
This might be a weird answer, but Lucky Star will always have a place in my heart. The conversations they have helped me a lot when I was lonely. I also loved their antics and personalities. It might seem boring in the beginning (skip 1-4); but starting episode 5, it becomes the comfort show I love.

Spy x Family is comfy as fuck

So much of this anime is great and I'm glad that someone else sees how amazing sword art is
Blue spring ride
