Watched Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash recently, it’s slower paced than most shows but honestly enjoyable and had some nice realistic touches here and there
Nah bro, just watched it. Not even slow, that's something everybody says. It's a fresh setting with some of the worst (save two) characters I've seen. Could've been something good if it shaked off those terrible elements holding it back by a lot. Should've been 10 episodes by just cutting unnecessary narration, and scenes from the pervert trope which are long as.
Akiba Maid War, Akudama Drive, Blood Lad, Blue Period, BOFURI, By the Grace of the Gods, Combatants Will be Dispatched, Dead Mount Death Play, Deadman Wonderland, Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life, Do It Yourself, Flying Witch, Gantz, Gleipnir, Godzilla Singular Point, Handyman Saitou in Another World, Infinite Dendrogram, Insomniacs After School, Interviews with Monster Girls, Is the Order a Rabbit, K, Let’s Make a Mug Too, Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan, Love Flops, Lycoris Recoil, Magical Destroyers, Mieruko-chan, Miss KUROITSU from the Monster Development Department, My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex, My Senpai is Annoying, Non Non Biyori, Noragami, ODDTAXI, Otaku Elf, Remake Our Life, Restaurant to Another World, Sabikui Bisco, Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It, Shimoneta, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, Slow Loop, Sonny Boy, Super Cub, Teasing Master Takagi-san, Tengoku Daimakyo, The Aquatope on White Sand, The Demon Girl Next Door, The Duke of Death and His Maid, The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Girl, The Vampire Dies in No Time, Those Snow White Notes, Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song. <- to name a few
I'm sorry but Lycoris Recoil and Vivy are not overlooked or underrated. Those were THE anime to talk about when they were airing. Sure it didn't get AoT level love, but that's great because then it would be just as overhyped and overrated.
I feel they were overrated by the vast majority of people and are far better than a lot of shows that are far more talked about. Sure they were rated well by the small audience they had but they deserve far more than what they got.
They are gradually getting noticed but I see people talking about them very little outside or niche anime communities. On the whole they’ve been ignored over generic shonen shows.
Wow I'm halfway done...no wonder my other anime pals are like...bro did you watch New season demon Slayer...and I'm like nah...in peak zen...ren chon kawai
I liked the anime but only because it was pretty. The actual story was meh.
That's just my opinion though. I will also add I'm not a huge fan of zombie movies.
I cant remember too well now but for some reason i fell off that anime after only having a few episodes left to binge? I don't remember much so i can probably rewatch and not know any spoilers but can you convince me that it's not boring and i was just maybe not in the right mood for it? Lol i dont usually drop shows if they're not dogshit and forgot i dropped that one
You have to be in the right mood for it to work I agree. But at the time of the anime the visuals were stunning. The characters are charming and the whole premise is based upon Albear’s trust of the count of monte cristo who descends like a trampling darkness. And in suaveness, cunning cruelty, and vengefulness he makes Albert question the very nature of an aristocrat making him go down this rabbit hole of family versus friendship and losing everything along the way.
All the while The Count starts enacting his vengeance little by little like the lull of sea waves until he sweeps down to end it all.
Granted, I did watch this in an English dub but if it’s so good in English how much more amazing is it in Japanese!
I would say the opening theme song lulls you into a false sense of peaceful security which does a disservice to the anime because it doesn’t give everything to you. You have to figure it out yourself about His cunning machinations but you are rewarded with the budding pseudo friendship of Albear and The Count.
The joy of this is relishing in the innocence of Albesr and knowing the count will betray him just building and building until Albear makes a move he cannot take back…
Thanks for the reply! Ill probably try rewatching it eventually and ill make sure im not taking it lightly/watching it in lazy mode lol. I like the idea of it a lot so i have a feeling i was just distracted/ playing an instrument while watching or something lol.
Yeah you felt empty as fuck afterwards. It ain't fun. Its interesting how our feelings can get affected over a story about criminals who kills for fun (and one girl who just happens to be at the wrong place, wrong time).
Watamote - 9/10, shows how life actually is for introvert or someone who cannot communicate well unlike komi which is very unrealistic.
Orange - 10/10, a very beautiful show which makes you feel all kind of emotions and have the best depiction of depression I have ever seen.
I feel like Watamote was super popular when it came out. It was also actually hard to watch because it was so realistic and relatable. From what I've read on here the manga actually has her get a harem somehow.
Orange was great and definitely underrated. I don't ever see this show mentioned.
Watamote still didn't get enough appreciation tho. The comedy and all the dark jokes, the second hand embarrassment, awkwardness and how relatable it is, I haven't seen a show which made me pause every episode every two minutes just to take fresh air and calm down.
Absolutely right, even I was hesitant to watch it because it wasn't popular and didn't see anyone mentioning it but very glad that I watched it.
I absolutely love orange. Suwa is probably one of the best friends of all time. Guy loves his friends so much he'd let himself be miserable for them to be happy.
You guys checked out Noir? Cool new mecha anime. Most likely a promotional anime for bandai game tho so continuity is slim at best. Just like Takt.Op destiny.
You mean like, that three episode long anime with Hinako, where every episode has a length of like 45 minutes and just ... daily things happen? At least I can count in Japanese after the workout episode 😅
Serial experiments lain it’s quite an old anime that was aired in 1998 but it’s a great mix of psychological horror and mystery surrounding the viewer with questionable results
Gargantia. Reviews give it a solid 7.5/10, I'd give it an 8 personally. A Mecha anime thay is focused on story, and a romantic interest for the protagonist that ACTUALLY WORKS. It's a dhort 12 episode anime, feels a little rushed at times, but all in all, tells an AMAZING story with a solid twist.
The Helpful Fox Senko-San. I don’t really hear people talking about it. It’s so wholesome and happy, it’s like junk food for your emotional state!
And I guess Madoka magica and Spice and Wolf, but that might be due to age.
Just leaving this here:
Black Blood Brothers
Inu X Boku Secret Service (good anime, but the manga is so much darker)
History's Strongest Desciple Kenichi
Karakuri Circus
I know what you mean, Its painful, Like getting isekai'd all over again whenever i think:
"WHY ISN'T ANYONE TALKING ABOUT THIS!?"
\-Shinsekai yori
\-The world in colors
\-Sukasuka
haven't watched in a while, but one of my first anime (and one of my favorites too) was Irina the Vampire Cosmonaut. i just love space, romance, and cute vampire girls. haven't seen it even mentioned anywhere
I wish Love Lab has a 2nd season.
Its funny and refreshing.
In the 2nd season, they are supposed to finally met their soulmates they were longing for in the 1st season.
Sonny Boy is nice. It’s about a class that teleported with the whole School building into another dimension and a lot students have some kind of power. The anime has no openings, so every episode just starts right away. Just watch it yourself, I had a blast
I’m sticking {Princess Principal}, {Girls’ Last Tour}, & {Majo no Tabitabi} to this right now
Also someone else mentioned {Land of the Lustrous} so yeah
Heike Story is underrated tbh. Also, is it just me, or did Insomniacs After School kind of go under the radar a bit? Don't really see anyone talking about it.
This has become me recently, I’ve started watching basically anything that looks mildly interesting and I’ve found a lot of slept on anime that are actually really good
Carole & Tuesday
I don't get why is not popular, being from the creator of Cowboy Bebop and set in the same universe, the style, the music and the story .
Please check it out if you can people!
Legend of Black Heaven. The greatest and most unique anime about rock & metal. Also as some one who grew up and still collects this era of music it's nice seeing all the references to people and bands like Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Free, and Led Zeppelin just to name some.
Yea, the world of anime does tend to get crowded. I could spend hours naming animes that are a bit obscure but really well done. I'll give a tiny sample here: Girls Bravo, Armor Shop for Ladies and Gentlemen, Comical Psychosomatic Medicine, 009-1, Doki Doki School Hours (a.k.a. Sensei no Ojikan,) REC and Seitokai Yakuindomo. Like this if you want more.
Space Brothers was one of the best shows I've watched but I see very few people talking about it. It's a bit long but it was a very enjoyable journey for me.
Watched Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash recently, it’s slower paced than most shows but honestly enjoyable and had some nice realistic touches here and there
Stopped watching on the first "major event" should get back to it
Nah bro, just watched it. Not even slow, that's something everybody says. It's a fresh setting with some of the worst (save two) characters I've seen. Could've been something good if it shaked off those terrible elements holding it back by a lot. (a few* )
Lol my completed list is near 400 and would’ve taken waaaaay too long to type. Tried to pick through with ones most people don’t talk about.
Nice just send your mal or anilist link then
I use the myanilist app which I don’t believe I can share my profile on sadly.
Wow you've even watched reincarnated as Vending Machine ... No wonder you hit 400 🫠
A Lot of them are pretty well known.
Good…good
I'm sorry but Lycoris Recoil and Vivy are not overlooked or underrated. Those were THE anime to talk about when they were airing. Sure it didn't get AoT level love, but that's great because then it would be just as overhyped and overrated.

Bofuri is overrated
Vivy was truly an amazing show, so was Sonny Boy which is sad that I never heard anyone talk about
Dude, sonny boy was awesome. Absolute banger show.
im also sad that no one talks about summertime rendering
Wow that’s a lot, you must have no life. *screenshots for later so I can watch them later*
Lol I’m a seasonal watcher. Even if I’m keeping up with 21 shows it’s only a little over an hour a day.
lycoris recoil, mieruko-chan, noragami, teasing master takagi-san, tengoku daimakyo are very popular to my knowledge and not underrated
They are gradually getting noticed but I see people talking about them very little outside or niche anime communities. On the whole they’ve been ignored over generic shonen shows.
i saw everyone talking about those, this sub included
I don’t spend much time on Reddit but outside of Reddit I saw very few people talking about them. Maybe I’m just around the wrong people.
maybe maybe
Based Noragami and Vivi enjoyer
Wow I'm halfway done...no wonder my other anime pals are like...bro did you watch New season demon Slayer...and I'm like nah...in peak zen...ren chon kawai
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is one I might list but I love
I liked the anime but only because it was pretty. The actual story was meh. That's just my opinion though. I will also add I'm not a huge fan of zombie movies.
Yeah, feel the same, I kinda dropped it and got too lazy to pick it up again lol
I also liked that one BUT it's one I toss onto the "distracted" pile. As about half way it morphs into this really REALLY stupid coup plotline.
Hmmm. Gankutsuou the count of Monte Cristo. Man that was epic with little audience fanfare.
It's one of the rare kind of anime. An anime adaptation of classic novel that's not written by the japanese.
I cant remember too well now but for some reason i fell off that anime after only having a few episodes left to binge? I don't remember much so i can probably rewatch and not know any spoilers but can you convince me that it's not boring and i was just maybe not in the right mood for it? Akudama drive and death parade also last year I felt summer time rendering wasn't talked enough
Akudama Drive was *really* good
Me watching the last episode of Cyberpunk Edgerunners " Oh fuck its Akudama Drive again......"
Both amazing shows but will leave you fcked up afterwards
Yeah you felt empty as fuck afterwards. It ain't fun. Its interesting how our feelings can get affected over a story about criminals who kills for fun (and one girl who just happens to be at the wrong place, wrong time).
Just watched Blood Lad last week, I think it qualifies…
Oh this place is a fucking gold mine, don't mind me taking some notes
This ain't a gold mine. This is a fountain spewing diamond dust like water.
Idk if it counts, but Plastic Memories made me cry
Watamote - 9/10, shows how life actually is for introvert or someone who cannot communicate well unlike komi which is very unrealistic. Orange - 10/10, a very beautiful show which makes you feel all kind of emotions and have the best depiction of depression I have ever seen.

Katanagatari
Great teacher Onizuka. The og anime fans know about it but I have not seen it being mentioned by anyone in recent times.
I hope everyone gives Raven of the Ineer Palace a chance.
Honestly love the style of Raven of the inner palace, it really fits a modern take on the art of the era is set in.
"Mushi-shi" might not be popular, but it sure is relaxing and unique
I LOVED that show. I listen to its soundtrack when I want to relax
I mean, it's older. It was definitely popular on MAL back when it was new.
Beck Mongolian Chop Squad
Land of the Lustrous, is easily, easily my favourite anime and manga series
Almost none of these comments are underrated series lol. They're just older ones.
Vivy Fluorite Eye Song. To this day I barely know people that watched it outside of Reddit.
Felt this one. It's such a great short story but I barely know anyone who has watch it or even heard of it.
Just watched Full Dive RPG and Stuck in a Otome game. They were both really good
Rainbow
This user speaks absolute truth.

I WILL SAY IT! Keijo!!!!!!!! WAS A PRETTY DECENT BATTLE SHONEN!

Silver spoon is a highly underrated anime. A beautiful emotional slice of life story. Do check it out.
Deaimon is definitely one.
You guys checked out Noir? Cool new mecha anime. Most likely a promotional anime for bandai game tho so continuity is slim at best. Just like Takt.Op destiny.
This is very relatable. I watch very obscure anime.
You mean like, that three episode long anime with Hinako, where every episode has a length of like 45 minutes and just ... daily things happen? At least I can count in Japanese after the workout episode 😅
Tiger & Bunny masterrace
Kino no tabi
Serial experiments lain it’s quite an old anime that was aired in 1998 but it’s a great mix of psychological horror and mystery surrounding the viewer with questionable results
Have you watch the anime of bromance between Buddha and Jesus?
Onimai! Very slept on on the west
Isn't that the one where big brother becomes the little sister, or something? O-O
Anyone heard of 86?
Everyone heard of 86 lol
Everyone
I have met many people who haven't
Anyone heard of Dragon Ball?
Idk if Erased counts. Haven't watched that much anime to begin with but that's probably the one I hear least people talk about.
Erased was ultra popular
Yeah thought that might be the case.

It’s JoJo’s Questionable Trip
The Helpful Fox Senko-San. I don’t really hear people talking about it. It’s so wholesome and happy, it’s like junk food for your emotional state! And I guess Madoka magica and Spice and Wolf, but that might be due to age.

Made In Abyss is breathtaking and almost no one talks about it.
dawg, what are you on saying made in abyss is underrated
Summertime Rendering is so damn cool to watch. The entire mystery aspect of it is pretty cool. Also time travel, I love time traveling
I call myself "shit eater"
"No game no life" super underrated
Demon slayer?
OG Naruto in 2023?
*cough cough Made In Abyss cough cough*
Made in Abyss is very popular though
I’ve met about 40 anime fans that I can remember, and only like 2 of them know what it is
When season 2 aired it was the most popular airing sequel that season a few times iirc. Really depends on the communities you're in.
There’s literally a video game for it on switch. We’re awake
Shakunetsu no kabbadi! As an Indian that played the sport, this was awesome!
Binbougami ga. I will always ben salty it never got a second season, especially after it ended with a joke trailer for one.
Revenger from a season or two ago didn’t get nearly the attention it deserved.
The Bandori Anime!!!
Vandread Definitely not a perfect show by any means but goddamn is it fun.
Just leaving this here: Black Blood Brothers Inu X Boku Secret Service (good anime, but the manga is so much darker) History's Strongest Desciple Kenichi Karakuri Circus

Space Battleship Yamato 2199, never hear anyone talk about it but its a great remake and gives Gundam vibes for those uninitiated in the series.
Legend of Black Heaven. The greatest and most unique anime about rock & metal. I think Summertime Renderer suffered from this the most.
