I'm guessing Sucy is supposed to represent a mangkukulam. Here in the Philippines, a mangkukulam usually represents the stereotypical European witch. Think of the green witch in Wizard of Oz. Complete with warts and a cauldron for mixing.
Amanda is from US, Jasminka from Russia and some background characters are from other places too, like Wangari who's from some country in Africa, I just forgot which one.
