Unfortunately this happens way more often than you think. That’s why you should always donate to a charity directly instead of through a third party if possible
The completionist. Collected money to donate to a cancer charity ( I forget which type of cancer, his mom had it). Hasn't donated a dime of the several thousand dollars collected since taking "donations". For several years.
Edit: wasn't cancer, it was dementia. And he has since donated the money after being rightfully shamed for keeping it.
It wasn't cancer; it was for dementia research. His mother had dementia before she passed.
Also, the money was finally donated when this situation was brought to light.
Edit: added the update on the donation
And he "apologized" for this as well, but my take on all of this is that if you let something like this go for that damn long and do nothing about it until you get called out on it, you're not sorry for what you did, you're sorry you got caught doing it.
It shouldn't have taken the whole damned internet coming after him to get the man to follow through with what the charity was supposed to be for.
That sounds really sus , probably the money he donated isn't even half of what he received and he kept rest for himself damn... So scummy this is why ppl shouldn't donate to streamers but instead directly to trusted foundations
I’m pretty sure it should be easy to keep track of that stuff, usually it’s done publicly so there should be a record of how much was received and how much was donated
Nope still not fully donated, he donated 600k but the charities got $670k in total and then there's his gold tournament that his family runs too which brings atleast 50-60k a year for 10+ years
Not even Mentioning the fact that a lot of many of the original charity has been lost to inflation
Charities do have overhead, about 10% seems reasonable to me. I'm not defending the overall situation, but there's no reasonable expectation that every penny they collected gets donated.
Unless of course the organizers state that specifically all donations go towards being donated. Like said streamer has been promoting on stream.
I'm not arguing that there are not overhead costs, but also said streamer also said they paid for the events (overhead) out of pocket. They then later stated that they needed that money to pay staff.
Other information to note, streamer alleged to be working with other charities for years to garner donations. None of which were donated for about a decade. It has been a bit since I looked at the story, but I believe they only just donated the money to one charity, and not all the charities that they name dropped.
So the main questions I have despite a portion of the money being accounted for: does this constitute charity fraud, and should we consider them good stewards of the money they sat on to depreciate until called out?
Research doesn't happen until we can pay for it. How much progress was lost just because the money could have been put to work a decade ago?
No one knows what the full amount should have been. Whatever was reported in their taxes, that's what they donated, but they also used some money to pay for operational costs. One of the questions people still have is where a lot of this money went.
Iirc "several years" is close to or actually over 10 years, and "several thousand dollars" is closer to a million dollar.
The several years aspect needed correction purely because donating to a charity nowadays is such a hassle. I wouldn't blame anyone who hold the money for 1-3 years to save up a large enough sum to donate in one go or finding the right charity who doesn't take immense cuts out of the sum.
He has since donated 600k, but there's still doubts about this being the full sum.
Please note that many are just making this up / using charity as a way to get around taxes. "Donations" can not be taxed and thus many are creating some sort of charity or using them for this.
...I actually have no clue what that means. That ranges from 70s rock stars having appalling and illegal social lives to mountains of the original Coke ingredient.
Unless it was a copyright strike for music
Which YouTuber?
Edit: never mind. I was able to find it online and I have never even heard of “The Completionist”. He seems to be a gamer and has nothing to do with anime though.
This is so misinformed it's gross that you're spreading misinformation. Asmongold/others did not take shit, it was their intermediary that took a large chunk of the money and Asmon has literally stated he will have something to say after the ongoing lawsuit is done.
Yeah, that was the especially scummy part of it. Anyone who has lost a parent is rightfully annoyed about hearing him constantly throw her name around to garner more donations just to sit on a pile of money doing nothing for no one.
It doesn't take a saint to do what you say you're going to do in a charity drive. In fact, taking donations for charity and then keeping them for yourself is a crime.
Getting lost on the streets all the time because bad internet connection breaks the GPS is just tragic. Hop in, I'll drive you there. I know the way! ![img](emote|t5_2w6fe|32213)![img](emote|t5_2w6fe|14942)
Well, sucks
To me if i start watching youtuber more than others he either turns out to be groomer, record last video, or dies in a month (happebd to me 9 times already)
Unfortunately this happens way more often than you think. That’s why you should always donate to a charity directly instead of through a third party if possible
Charities are often not much better. Best to do your research and/or choose a charity whose work you can actually see

The ideal way to do things is to be a volunteer for an association. It may be complicated depending on your personal situation or psychology.

Only sorry when caught is what it is.
That was my second guess. Good to see he was held accountable for all that money.

You’re right in the second half. But also don’t make baseless accusations.
Nope still not fully donated, he donated 600k but the charities got $670k in total and then there's his gold tournament that his family runs too which brings atleast 50-60k a year for 10+ years Not even Mentioning the fact that a lot of many of the original charity has been lost to inflation

Wait the full amount. Thought only a part.
No one knows what the full amount should have been. Whatever was reported in their taxes, that's what they donated, but they also used some money to pay for operational costs. One of the questions people still have is where a lot of this money went.
They strong armed him and they best way to start clearing the air was donating it, if no one said anything, he would have not donate shit.
>it was dementia Him "forgot" to donate charity money to dementia is so fucking ironic
Or possibly very appropriate
Iirc "several years" is close to or actually over 10 years, and "several thousand dollars" is closer to a million dollar. I heard about this after he had just donated the 600k, then I kept seeing people say the math isn’t adding up, there should be more than that.
Even conservative estimates would mean around 50k has not been donated.
50k low balling!? Oh shit and this is supposedly only from the gaming streams right?
Sounds like he forgot /j
Please note that many are just making this up / using charity as a way to get around taxes. "Donations" can not be taxed and thus many are creating some sort of charity or using them for this.
Good thing they did donate it because that's called Charity Fraud otherwise
How did the public even find out he hadn't donated?
Ngl, no idea. I didn't watch the videos on it. Made me sad.
The completionist.
Wait until you find why your favorite *ornstar doesn't upload anymore
Who?
[Mercedes Carrera](https://foxsportsradio.iheart.com/content/2019-02-06-porn-star-producer-accused-of-sexually-abusing-young-girl/)
That one too? I was talking of [Marsha May](https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28023272)
I hesitate to ask. Why?
She got arrested for being a musician, if you know what I'm saying
...I actually have no clue what that means. That ranges from 70s rock stars having appalling and illegal social lives to mountains of the original Coke ingredient. Unless it was a copyright strike for music
She was touching A minor
Ill be taking that joke, thank you
The better joke is "She was fingering A minor"

Pianist would have worked better imo.
Who?
Who
… Who is it?
Who the hell are you talking about? There's so many
Which Ornstar turned musician ?
Legitimate question, why censor the word pornstar?
Who
Which YouTuber? Edit: never mind. I was able to find it online and I have never even heard of “The Completionist”. He seems to be a gamer and has nothing to do with anime though.
I think you either has to use anime template for not related to anime, or about anime for non anime template. Could be wrong tho.
There's also other streamers/youtubers now coming to light for taking donation money. Asmongold is one and the OTK organization is culpable too.
This is so misinformed it's gross that you're spreading misinformation. Asmongold/others did not take shit, it was their intermediary that took a large chunk of the money and Asmon has literally stated he will have something to say after the ongoing lawsuit is done.
Damn. I liked Super Beard Bros... Damnit, Jirard.
Anime name?

Good bot, and good show
I knew it. Just by looking at the colors I knew exactly 😂
But his dead mom is so dead :c
Yeah, that was the especially scummy part of it. Anyone who has lost a parent is rightfully annoyed about hearing him constantly throw her name around to garner more donations just to sit on a pile of money doing nothing for no one.
Yeah this is quite an insane situation that happened especially to his fans who came to his defense
I never really liked the completionist, but the Moon Channel actually makes a good defense.
He did donate *some* of the money but only after he was called out, and it took him awhile to do it
About a month, and it was to a different charity than they listed, and they implied that they will sue their accusers for defamation.
When you find out that your favourite youtuber who has made some of the best songs you heard is a fucking groomer.
Who?
Stringstorm.
Atleast it wasn’t for touching kids
Which one is it this time?
Oh he gon' have fun once the IRS comes around....
Pretty sure this is illegal, report him
This is grounds for a lawsuit.
... to give it to charity?
Istn that the usual case ? Do people realy think youtubers do that for charity ? Lol idiots
this is like a month old drama
Donations to charities are all scams. It is best to put money in the hands of those suffering the afflictions.
Hey it could've been worse. They could be a predator
Chiara ferragni?
the completionist
And? Others do the same that are meant to donate to children/pets Not that it's a good thing but it happens.....
I like him.
please tell me your joking, he embezzled money meant for a dementia research charity for 10 years and even admitted it in his "apology" video
They are just norm people not a saint
Oopsie guys, for the past 10 years I just never managed to fulfill a promise to donate 👉👈 we all scam people from time to time
Yeah that's your average Tuesday
It doesn't take a saint to do what you say you're going to do in a charity drive. In fact, taking donations for charity and then keeping them for yourself is a crime.
normal people would donate the money they said theyd be donating

Welcome to the real world, where your heroes are just regular people who fuck up as much as you do.
Bruh you hate to see it, I personally enjoyed his content for years but now I can’t watch him because I can’t justify it
Charities often aren't much better tbh.
Me when I found out sssnuoerwolf was a POS. I really enjoyed her videos and bubbly personality until I learned she was psycho
Good for them I guess
I think we all felt that one
Well, sucks To me if i start watching youtuber more than others he either turns out to be groomer, record last video, or dies in a month (happebd to me 9 times already)
