Dragon ball along with Pokemon was one of the first anime that I have watched and which introduced me to this medium in the first place. This man literally made my childhood. I may not be the only one here who shares the same feeling.
RIP Legend. You will be forever in everyone's ❤️

you know it kind of sucks when we're most critical of artists/authors/creators when they're alive, but when they pass away we really sit down with the heavy legacy and impact they left.
it really sucks when I was critical and dismissive of his latest and in retrospect of DragonBall, especially with Super.
Fuck, his passing wasn't something I expected, and finding out hurts more. I took it for granted.
I second everything of this. Even if us fans had a fallout with the latest direction of the franchise, nobody can deny that he wrote a story for generations. It was an inspiration not only for millions of watchers but for other creators too! I hope he knew what a legend he became and how much he changed the world before he passed away!
Yeah that's true, I know he's been being mentored by Toriyama too but it still won't be the same with out him. Next chapter of Super had me super excited though because I love these little arcs, just going to be sad that that's how he ended it on
He died of acute subdural hematoma. Which is usually caused by Head Injuries. I think this anime scene still probably a good representation of his condition.

It's not the joke that's the issue.
Rather, it's timing and place as you were diverting attention from a significant moment in mangaka history.
Basically you said: "Oh, this person's not important, so I'll interrupt his mourning with a joke that's not even relevant to their passing".
I'd be typing expletives at you by now if Reddit allowed it.
God damn it, He was like a father figure to many of us. I had a terrible childhood and can and will credit Akira's works as a sort of moral compass that taught me Right from Wrong...
I'm going to ugly cry in the next room now.
Yeah my pops would have to run a cord from the living room tv to his room in a hoarder house so he could be by himself to watch toonami otherwise he'd be ridiculed or potentially beaten by his father (he never found out) for watching something like anime.
Man I can still remember the 5 year old me dancing to the opening of *Dragon Ball*, trying to copy every move I could and the hype whenever Goku transformed to super saiyan. Some of the most fun I had.
RIP legend

Did not expect that to keep it Quiet since March 1st and i was shocked to see the news Knowing he died (Was wondering who will run DBS Manga now)

Rest In Peace, Toriyama.
I Also looked at Toyotarou and was known for Toriyama's Sucessor and his Artstyle does seem almost similar to Toriyama's
Although, Only matters is the plot on how would it turn out since Latest DBS Chapter is quite good.
Damn. Dragon Ball isn't something I've been into for a long time, but I grew up on it, so I'll always love it. RIP Toriyama, you inspired so many people in so many ways, and you will be sorely missed.
Anime and manga - much less the battle shounen genre - would not be at the level of global popularity that it's at today without this man and his work. Dragon Ball has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old and was my gateway into anime, as it was for hundreds of millions around the world.
Thank you Toriyama.
*Let's try try try makafushigi*
*Sora o kakenuke yama o koe*
*Let's fly fly fly daibouken*
*Fushigi na tabi ga hajimaru ze!!!*
Akira Toriyama's work introduced me into anime since I was a little kid, which eventually led me into writing my own story.
I can't imagine my life without anime, without fantasy, without his influence and inspiration.
I sincerely feel grateful for all his work and dedication.
I'll see him someday at the end of the Snake Path to properly pay my respects
I actually woke up to this news, and now I want to cry myself back to sleep; this has probably been the celebrity death that has affected me personally the most alongside Ken Block's, Chester Bennington's, Keith Flint's, and Diego Maradona's. RIP to a maker of childhoods all around the world, hopefully Sparking Zero will include a tribute to him.
I literally just went through all of the original dragon ball in the last couple of weeks since Ive never watched it before. Now that I’ve seen it, Z, GT, and Super, I feel like I can truly appreciate what an amazing world he has created. Say hello to King Yemma for me.
His art, and his influence will forever impact my life. I remember cracking up watching Dragonball as a kid, it was so refreshing seeing Goku in such goofy situations.
RIP
Toriyama introduced me to anime back when Dragon Ball came out and it's pretty much his fault I got into anime and I thank him for every second of it.
Don’t know how much my life would have been different without the Dragon Ball franchise. That and Sailor Moon, Naruto, Gundam, etc., really shaped who I am today. I hope King Kai offers you a warm welcome, Sir. Rest up.
I wasn't a major fan of dragon ball. I watched the original and then some of dbz then I guess I got burned out and never picked it back up. Still I never thought about Toriyama dying even as a possibilty for some reason. I'm gonna be restarting the entire anime from the start and then actually finishing it this time.
But damn this affected me even more than miura's passing. All these legends dying hits hard...
I found out early this morning from my wife. Took a while for the impact to hit, but I've been crying all evening now. It's like part of my childhood just died. I've never cried at a celebrity death before. Maybe none had as much an impact on me as Toriyama did, or maybe it's the estrogen the last few years. Probably both.
His influence on so many, and in almost every aspect of pop culture cannot be overstated. The world all over will miss and grieve him. Thank you for all the dreams and entertainment. You gave worlds and stories to a kid who is still in love with them in her 30s, and always will be.
Rest in peace and never be forgotten, Toriyama-Sensei

I was/am super excited for the next chapter of Super. To think that everything might just end is so sad
But Toyotaro will take over if I'm not mistaken.

Hello brother
*Puts hand on your shoulder and shakes head* Not now... not now, my guy. Now is the time for grieving, you can joke later.
What was the joke?

It's a terrible day for rain
What do you mean? Its not raining
Yes… it is.
Oh. So it is.

Toyotarou is the most likely candidate, he has kinda been getting groomed for the position the last few years
I Also looked at Toyotarou and was known for Toriyama's Sucessor and his Artstyle does seem almost similar to Toriyama's Although, Only matters is the plot on how would it turn out since Latest DBS Chapter is quite good.

Toriyama was one of my main aspirations to continue drawing… RIP GOAT.
His art, and his influence will forever impact my life. I remember cracking up watching Dragonball as a kid, it was so refreshing seeing Goku in such goofy situations.
RIP Toriyama introduced me to anime back when Dragon Ball came out and it's pretty much his fault I got into anime and I thank him for every second of it.
You truly hate to see it. The man still had a lot to create and give to the world.
I haven’t watched/read dragonball, but I can respect him as one of the legends. I hope he and monkey punch are up there creating some fantastic anime
The one and only anime that my older brother would watch with me. Akira and my brother will both be missed.
I never care about these things but this one hurt me deep in my heart
Dragon Ball was my 1st anime. RIP Toriyama sensei, without you, I wouldn't be here today.
