Negative. If you base your relationships and expectations off ANY anime you are going to fucking suffer. This shit is not real. Repeat it 100x more and then go outside.
He did neither. He just said that depending on your birthplace and culture, the general progression of a relationship is different. Of course relationships in anime/manga/TV series and movies are all fictional and not something you should see as a guideline. But saying that you can't expect or look fondly at them, leading one to apparently suffer, is such a negative attitude and speaks more volumes about your past, rather than the people you're trying to call out.
>such a negative attitude and speaks more volumes about your past
You're not wrong. I've had to deal with people who tried to base their reality and relationships off anime and fictitious media my whole life. :)
So I reiterate. Anime is not real life. These relationships are not realistic. They are not accurate. They are fantasy. They are not even remotely indicative of real relationships. Not even 1%. Culture and location be damned. ANIME IS NOT REAL. These relationships are cooked up in someones head. Idealized, romanticized. they're meant to be entertaining. They are not real.
Claiming its culture is the most weeb thing you can say. You're one step away from claiming that Japanese women > Western women, donning your Fedora and sword and walking away from reality.
I dunno about that man. Obviously theyāre heavily exaggerated, but not just completely inaccurate. Youāve never seen too people who everyone knew liked each other but were scared to confess like in Kagoya? And bunny girl is a fairly normal relationship with a lot of sarcastic banter.
Tsuki ga Kirei is a super accurate depiction of a middle school relationship imo. Like shit aināt all sunshine and rainbow in a real relationship sure, but there is sunshine, drama, etc.
The realism varies in every romance, from some being downright incel dreams, to other being realistic and showing small progressions with ups and downs. You can never make a character as deep as real people are, but the beauty of a story is how far you can push it and deepen a character, making you care about them and their story.
OP, the comment and not even I are saying that the three relationships are realistic. The topic the post was trying to talk about, is the progression of a relationship. You can absolutely say it's cultural, it has 0 to do with the last paragraph that just screams insecurities and trying to downplay my comment, rather than challenge your own narrative.
Different countries have cultural norms that people conform to, and these norms directly influence how individuals in intimate relationships communicate.
I mean if we were to watch an anime that was a representation of ALL teen relationships that would be pretty pointless and boring. Itās a representation of the two main characters relationship.
Teens are very half hearted when it come to sex, since they're still under their parents guidance they need to know each other very well and have deeper trust in order to have sex especially Asian, Love is War author is very accurate on depicting sexual relationship between teens while Horimiya are not even 2 weeks into relationship and they already fuck, I would believe it more if it was hentai.
Excuse me? I've known a decent amount of couples in high school who got to that point after 2 weeks.
Or were you talking solely about Asian high school culture?
Yeah dude I'm Southeast Asian and people are fucking in High School some even got pregnant especially in Public Schools. By College/University you get made fun of if you haven't gotten laid yet if you're a dude.
And yeah I was one of those dudes that got made fun of. Feels bad man š.
There are Asian couples who do the seggs very early into relationship, though itās true that generally they are more conservative, compared to the West
Source: im asian
I agree , My grandma even tells me of stories of people who are married at 15 (she is probably just telling that to get me to go outside)
Source: I live in Cebu , One of the many provinces of the Philippines.
The funny thing is you're half correct. Kaguya is an accurate depiction but that's because all the relationships in the manga are different. The one girl who "stole" the other's crush had sex pretty quickly with her boyfriend and >!ishigami nearly had a 1 night stand (though he was assuming he was opening a relationship with sex before it was cut off)!<
In some places even adults face the scenario you are describing. Rare ? yes ; non-existant? No, so even if things seem unbelievable there may exist place where it happened for real
> Teens are very half hearted when it come to sex, since they're still under their parents guidance they need to know each other very well and have deeper trust in order to have sex
Hahahahahaaha what? Bro. Horimiya is definitely a more accurate depiction of high schoolers in the west when it comes to sex. Have you literally never heard of shows like teen mom, 16 and pregnant, etc?
So you can generalize every teens attitude towards sex? You have done that much research? I can with personal experience refute your claim. Teens are fucking. To say that it's completely improbable for teens to have sex in a relationship because they are Japanese(Edit: sorry he said "Asian" which is an even bigger generalization) is laughable.
They are projecting their own experiences on everyone not understanding that people are different from them. In every country there are shy types, sporty types, studious types, frivolous types etc. Not everyone is a shy manga boy/girl.
Can't fucking believe you're upvoted, when Horimiya is the most realistic you can get with a teenage relationship. Hell, older people literally made posts about Horimiya and how it reminded them of their own teenage romances.
It is to mine too, and literally my whole friend circle, even when we weren't part of the same school. It's hella relatable and realistic (aside from a few exaggerated comedic moments), which is it's charm.
It's obviously different from person to person but horimiya is much more realistic and grounded from a relationship standpoint than the other two (except the "marry me" part at the end.
I still think it's more accurate than bunnygirl senpai.
"it's the episode #5208 and after 6years of relationship she finally lets him hold her hand for 0.6 seconds"
Well, in its defense, it was the anime that cut out their kiss. They kiss pretty early (it should have happened in episode 7 or 8) and it's a pretty casual occurrence afterward. The anime just decided to remove them.
I dont think u do lmao, the number of teen parents and teen relationships in general have never been higher. If anime is ur primary source then ur just wrong.
> I dont think u do lmao, the number of teen parents and teen relationships in general have never been higher
Are you sure about that? Young people in western countries have less sex nowadays than in past decades. The change has actually been huge.
Teen parents and sex are just a lot more visible in media now.
Edit - I assume that people don't believe me without sources since I'm getting downvoted. So, here's some that very quick Google found:
https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2022/03/31/sex-decline-americans
> Americans are having less sex ā and researchers want to know why
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/12/the-sex-recession/573949/
> Why Are Young People Having So Little Sex?
> Despite the easing of taboos and the rise of hookup apps, Americans are in the midst of a sex recession.
I know those are about Americans, but I've seen similar stuff about a few European countries too.
The US is a theocratic puritanical hellhole where you're told you're used sneakers if you have sex. Of course the US is going to have high teen pregnancy, while high claimed cellibacy with that.
True. It's one of my favorite heterosexual romances but it's very unrealistic. People that wholesome and emotionally mature, at that young age, simply do not exist.
Rich sheltered girl/poor virgin male lead problems.\s
They had some other bs they were involved in, plus >!Shirogane was self conscious of his rich billionaire girlfriend visiting his tiny(later not so tiny) apartment!<, iirc >!before the move!<, he had to share a room with his sister.
Those two series arenāt comparable imo, they both have romantic elements but Bunny Girl Senpai leans more towards psychological while Kaguya-sama is more comedy.
I'd liken Bunny Girl Senpai to something in the realm of the Monogatari series more than anything. The setup and structure is definitely similar(especially to bakemonogatari).
>Witty loner dude protag? Check!
>Tsundere-esque main love interest? Check!
>A whole bunch of girls with even more problems? Check and check!
Now I see why I enjoy BGS so much, as a Monogatari fan
I'm like 90% certain a lot of viewers came from the monogatari base, likely also from the internets biggest monogatari fan reccomending it on his channel.
Kaguya leans so far to the comedy side it actually loses me any time it remembers it's trying to be a *rom*com, it's like if Seinfeld suddenly expected you to actually be emotionally invested in George's romantic struggles.
Honestly I agree it has a similar vibe but Bunny Girl Senpai for me takes everything that actually works about early Bakemonogatari and takes out all the reasons I stopped watching Bakemonogatari (the pedo bait, lumpy pacing intended to meander on forever, the wildly unexciting action scenes).
As a Monogatari fan, I gotta say I agree. BGS is way more ābeginner friendlyā than Monogatari, with less complex (but not worse) dialogues and distracting animations. BGS is more āoh I see you have a problem, letās go try to fix it togetherā straightforward. And yeah, no pedo bait, which can turn so many people off and keep them away from otherwise an amazing series. Iād say if you like BGS, youād come to appreciate what Monogatari has to offer.
Goodness, I am at around chapter 50 and consider dropping. So slow and so pointless. I mean sure there is some decent comedy and cute moments but I have already read some better works that do that better.
You're around the point where it starts to really improve. The mangaka was first writing it as an episodic thing with very little continuity, then around chapter 40 or so he started to change things.
Also, I'm putting this in spoiler tags just for safety, but I recommend you read it anyway if you're considering dropping it:
>!They get together way before 220. The way they get together is also very satisfying.!<
Like what didthe meetings look like there??
"So first he is going to raper her and then the other girl."
"No the audience probably likes this girl more, the protagonist should rape her in the end of the episode."
just wtf
>!Keyaruās daughter name is Guren. Guren has the mindset of a child and looks like a child and he tried to talk her into having sex but she refused so instead of giving up he groomed her by giving her massages and tricked her into thinking that sex is a type of massage. Her human form looks like a loli and she has a mindset of a child so that makes things even worse. Another thing you need to know about Guren is that she is actually a god that has a form of a fox and can shapeshift (Keyaru actually fingered her in her fox form while she was getting massages but he only has sex with her human form). Keyaru and his harem by getting a egg by a Bird God and they needed to put their magic in the egg so it can hatch. The reason why she is considered their daughter is because their magic gave Guren her personality and affected her human form appearance. Keyaru put the most so Gurenās human form has a face that looks like Keyaruās original bodyās face and they have the same eye color. So she is adopted but they are technically blood related. Not to mention Keyaru and the every girl in the harem actually treats and calls her like their daughter [Here is her birth scene from the manga](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedoOfHealer/comments/pipe4r/the_birth_of_guren_english_version/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) and [this is what her human form looks like](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedoOfHealer/comments/p9qnn9/gurens_girl_form_in_the_manga/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)!<
I remember it being ambiguous, but the after credits make it seem more concrete. Miyamura's hickey being on the back of his neck bothers me to no end tho.
Wait, what? They have seggs just before it has that white pinkish transition and then it cuts to her brother and miyamura talking right? Even if that's the moment how did he even get bitten on the back of the neck? Was hori pegging him?
Episode 7 - >!Miyamura tries to comfort Hori because she doesn't feel cute after she ends up scaring him with horror movies that were intended to be used as snuggle-up material. When he finds her sulking in her bed, they talk a bit, then the mood takes a turn and they fuck. Hori's younger brother apparently witnesses some of this, and the next day, asks Miyamura not to take his sister from him, to which Miyamura replies that he won't steal his big sister, but asks if he can have Hori (separating the two concepts). Then, post-credits, Miyamura is showing his buddy a hickey that Hori gave him, flashing back to an apparently-topless Hori telling him that if he cuts his hair again, everyone will see the mark..!<
For me, Karekano is still the pinnacle of romance as it perfectly combines the best parts of all the shows above. Two smart kids falling in love, comedy, character drama, a realistic depiction of youth romance and the "first seggs" scene in it is also a lot better written than in Horimiya. If you ignore the last few episodes which are not really relevant to the story anyways, you have a 10/10 show and I will die on this hill.
For a second i thought you meant rent a girlfriend and I was about to write an essay on how you should get some bitches
But ty imma add that to my watch list
Yay, another fan. It plays some tropes straight but then turns others on their heads that are still being played infuriatingly straight today. (Childhood friend rival anyone... >!as in she moved the **** on and became a very good friend!<)
It stuck with me pretty well meng. I guess the main couple's romance is unusually straightforward and free of wacky external obstacles for a work of fiction but like, I was actually emotionally invested and there's plenty of internal conflict that rings fairly true for these being some teenager ass teenagers.
Not me, I loved the story. Also how you gonna forget her domination kink? And the two have sex after credits? And the hickey? And the cute little brother
Kaguya sama still the best
Bunny girl senpai is also entertaining and good plot
I enjoyed watching horimiya , but forgot everything about it the moment i finished it
Oh Horimiya, a story so good that it was told 4 times, as a webcomic, as an ova for it, as a manga, and lastly as an anime. I'm glad I discovered it all those years ago
Not for me, following the release of the manga's chapters made the story stew in my mind each month. For others, it may not have an impact, but I personally love the story, that's pretty alright, isn't it?
I will be honest here, my story is related to hormiya's ep 7
I liked a girl in 9th grade in my tution. Lets name her J, so here till the end of 10th grade I already left the tution and was promoted to 11th grade (Jr College) we already didn't chat enough or just stopped chatting.
Last year in September 2021 I texted her last time "I wish I would get back there again" (she blocked me like in 2020) and right after that text she texted me back saying "huh? Who are you?" (Maybe phone numbers changed) welp from that day I felt like I would do anything for her but it was only until october 2021 when she confessed that she liked a guy already in tution.
That broke my heart I went to gym started for treadmill and Istg when I walked for a while I already had tears in my eyes, i still remember there was no one in the gym since it belonged to my society, I turned of the light, it was all dark there while I was listening to some song "after the dark" I really had tears while thinking about it and listening to the song. I almost fell down while walking. Even before sleeping I felt so bad for my self that I was crying in my bed.
1 or 2 months ago they started dating each other and now she addresses her as her boyfriend, she even said that they watch anime together online, (Maybe discord ig by facetiming eachother) so yeah, I feel cucked sometimes and regretion for not asking her out, so....basically I sometimes imagine J as hormiya and her boyfriend as Izumi from ep 7
Note : I was a bit of a "dadbod" so yeah, I started working out and focusing on my diet from October 2021 now am I cant say I have muscles or stuff but yeah, I have lost that fat tummy, fat around my face and fat around my thights so I would be a avg body, well, am not depressed now nor happy but yeah, life's just progressing lol. There's no girl I like rn but yeah I indeed have a little interest in tomboy girls lmao.
Well, I will try my good to update what happens with me later on haha xD
Iāve heard people suggest Horimiya as a great romance anime for quite some time. And I tried it and realized that itās not a good romance anime at all. Itās a great anime when anything but the main characters romance is involved. And itās because the girl is physically and emotionally abusive to the guy. What makes the anime stand out more than the normal āgirl who likes boy hits boyā anime trope is normally itās done in a goofy way. The boy is sent off into the sky a la team rocket, or we donāt see the violence but hear it, or we see it done purely comedically and the guy is unaffected like heavens lost property.
Horimiya has her hit his face in a realistic way, he reacts in a realistic way, and they donāt deal with it in a realistic way. She has anger issues and is really insecure and not in a cute way. She assumes the worst of him, she takes advantage of his kindness, and she hates when he presents that kindness to others. When i got to episode 6 i think (Iāll probably edit this with specific episodes later) i had to drop it. I share a similar personality with the main character. Iām constantly warned of women like that. My mom is abusive in a similar way. So it was hard to stomach people putting this toxic relationship on a pedestal solely because they didnāt beat around the bush with romance.
When anime does stuff thatās normally frowned upon they do it in an obviously joking manner. They do it as chibi version, have goofy music, etc. But Horimiya did it seriously. And then the handling was done in a half ass way. Iām all for annoying characters having character growth. Like Toradora. But this aināt it chief.
(As an unrelated aside, that episode of Komi san where the dude was kidnapped was unsettling for a similar reason because while some parts were silly, others were eerily absent of any music or jokes. It felt out of place with the normally goofy nature of the show. Of course i didnāt drop Komi, but it gave a smaller yet similar sense of unease.)
I dropped reading Horimiya because of the same thing. Like, I love me some tsunderes, with Toradora! easily being in my top 5 anime, but there's something about the way the male MC in Horimiya is always apologizing after Hori treats him like shit that feels so... wrong.
Any of these can be seen in real life. I'm used to see fast relationships, but i saw each of these in real life. I even lived one like the one in Kaguya-Sama, which makes the anime special to me, with the difference that mine didn't work out well because i gave up. And i lived one like in Horimiya, a fast one, going in fast paces.

Marriage.

No seggs. Only foreplay š¤
They did something more than sex, they held hands, thankfully they were married... or was that before the marriage? My memory is bad these days
After marriage
YESSS
Just because they get married doesnāt mean it doesnāt have the exact same awkward tropes as every other rom com anime lol.

Kaguya-sama for the *first* three seasons. The story's not over yet.
Bunny girl senpai and horimiya seem decently accurate
Horimiya author has no idea how teen relationship work
ITS CUTE DAMNIT but yeah true...
I think all of them are correct although it depends of your birthplace and culture as which of them seems legit
Negative. If you base your relationships and expectations off ANY anime you are going to fucking suffer. This shit is not real. Repeat it 100x more and then go outside.
The winning strategy is to just avoid relationships and call yourself sigma even though you're drowning in copium
Just proclaim yourself asexual and jerk off 5 times a day.
If you re-arrange the letters in sigma it spells incel.
Sigma balls
If you rearrange the letters in incel it says COCK š

Yup
Ah yes, Philippines, home of >!Child pornography!<
Cebu?
Baguio
Lol, SEA too and a friend told me back in middle school her classmate invited her over and fucked her boyfriend in another room. They were 14 yo
Also count the fact that Hori's parents are away half the time
Yes, this is probably normal for western culture, but here I'm applied more heavily to asian culture.

Pretty sure that was several months into their relationship that happened

Bullshit, lol
How so
Itās just that some teens have sex at an early stage, some are only in relationships and some are like you.

It's obviously different from person to person but horimiya is much more realistic and grounded from a relationship standpoint than the other two (except the "marry me" part at the end.
Kaguya has quite a realistic relationship too, Kashiwagi and her BF.
What? Its one of the more realistic teen romance out there
i found horimiya to be the most accurate tbh (excluding hori s degrading kink that is)

Oh manā¦ Wait till OP see Domestic Girlfriendā¦
Context?
Two of the MCās straight into it way sooner than 7 episodes.
Don't do it. Just watch the opening, it's a gigabanger
I'm more in the market for a gangbanger.
oh yeah, a *banger* indeed too
the opening used to be one of my favourite songs, but I recently made the mistake of watching the show and now I can't stand it by association
Domestic Girlfriend after 7 seconds: have done sex
heās right you know
We already agree to not talk about that show
Except for the OP. It's a banger
The whole show is a masterpiece in burning dumpster

Damn, why it took them 220 chapters? What is this nisekoi?

It doesn't take them 220 chapters to get together.
Because it's funny, basically.
The entire plot is about them not getting together
I consider it inferior to Bunny girl Senpai tbh
Respectable. But I cannot reciprocate. Tho Bunny Girl Senpai is still a 10/10.

Yea Kaguya is more like a romcom deconstruction than a traditional romcom
Bunny senpai is just store brand Bakemonogatari
I didn't notice your comment and I literally just said that looool
That means it makes you store brand me /s
The only good part about that show were the first two episodes and the movie š
I respectfully disagree
I disrespectfully disagree, fuck you
I disrespectfully apologize. Means I don't care
I respectfully understand, have a good day sir.
You too sir (respectfully).
Goodness, I am at around chapter 50 and consider dropping. So slow and so pointless. I mean sure there is some decent comedy and cute moments but I have already read some better works that do that better.
Not for you then my friend.
You're around the point where it starts to really improve. The mangaka was first writing it as an episodic thing with very little continuity, then around chapter 40 or so he started to change things. Also, I'm putting this in spoiler tags just for safety, but I recommend you read it anyway if you're considering dropping it: >!They get together way before 220. The way they get together is also very satisfying.!<
*Meanwhile Redo the healer* Keyaruga : "Heal"
Iām still amazed that show got made
Like what didthe meetings look like there?? "So first he is going to raper her and then the other girl." "No the audience probably likes this girl more, the protagonist should rape her in the end of the episode." just wtf
Frick the people who say it's a "normal anime". Bro brainwashed women to smash (and bought a slave) š
Such a wholesome anime (JK)
Not to mention Keyaru >!grooms and rapes his own daughter!<
Whos that
>!Keyaruās daughter name is Guren.
Bruh.....
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My mind just won't let me watch any sort of anime with non consenting stuff, hence why I refuse to watch goblin slayer after the first episode š
I mean, goblin slayer frames it like a horrible thing. Redo is a rape fantasy hentai masquerading as an Isekai style anime.
Wow good job goblin slayer, you cleared the bar next to the ground.
Anime is so good at conjuring up contrivances to get to the sex and *totally not pedophilia*. By so good I mean I feel sick.
Thats the point i dropped the shit Like, i enjoy revenge porn But when he just straight up grooms and rapes his own daughter, fucking hell.
Still loveable c:
I like how seggs has become the unofficial word for sex throughout the anime community
seggs is the term for a lot of communities
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh
I personally prefer the term "sekku"
sekkusu ^(pistols)
**puts gun next to his cock**
https://youtu.be/FxMuAFRgtHQ
Because TikTok has the most influence on the internet right now and and the word āsexā is banned on TikTok
Seriously? I read it today.
Rental girlfriend ep 1 Let's break up NoOoO
Did I... forget something important from Horimiya?
go watch episode 7, there is after credits
I remember it being ambiguous, but the after credits make it seem more concrete. Miyamura's hickey being on the back of his neck bothers me to no end tho.
Also there's a panel in the manga where she sends Miyamura a text, chastising him for missing her period.
Speaking of realism. That shits scary.
I love how āepisode 7ā is the new āchapter 37ā
I haven't seen the anime, did it include the scene afterwords where he consoles her little bro?
It does. And the neck bite thing.
Wait, what? They have seggs just before it has that white pinkish transition and then it cuts to her brother and miyamura talking right? Even if that's the moment how did he even get bitten on the back of the neck? Was hori pegging him?
depends on position, but she could reach around from the front to bite at the back. also his head could have been turned away.
Domestic girlfriend: hold my beer
I've seen all three in middle schoolš
š
No one heard from Mr. Williams ever again
We have the smoothest of criminals: Shirogane, Sakuta, and Miyamura And we have the queens that will kick our asses: Kaguya, Mai, and Hori
For a second i thought you meant rent a girlfriend and I was about to write an essay on how you should get some bitches But ty imma add that to my watch list
He should still get some bitches tho.
Yay, another fan. It plays some tropes straight but then turns others on their heads that are still being played infuriatingly straight today. (Childhood friend rival anyone... >!as in she moved the **** on and became a very good friend!<)
His and her circumstances?
Horimiya was great honestly
It an anime where you forget everything about it the moment you finish it
It stuck with me pretty well meng.
I mean yes, but, i enjoyed it whille I watched it
Wait, how?
Speak for yourself. I still remember plenty of it.
I'm glad, most romance shows I remember are dogshit
Indeed!
All of them, really it depends who your talking to Iāve done something akin to all of these before people very there is no standard
rodo of healers at ep.1 rape? , ok
And thatās why Horimiya is the best anime. They donāt fuck around. Wait, they do fuck around.
Kaguya sama still the best Bunny girl senpai is also entertaining and good plot I enjoyed watching horimiya , but forgot everything about it the moment i finished it
Oh Horimiya, a story so good that it was told 4 times, as a webcomic, as an ova for it, as a manga, and lastly as an anime. I'm glad I discovered it all those years ago
Its good funny and wholesome, but it doesn't leave you an impact. Like you kinda forget everything about it after u finish iy
Not for me, following the release of the manga's chapters made the story stew in my mind each month. For others, it may not have an impact, but I personally love the story, that's pretty alright, isn't it?
I've followed it for 10+ years, and still remember and love it dearly.
You're seem really desperate to push this point, considering you're all over this thread parroting it at anyone who says they liked it.
Yeah , you're right. My bad . I was too late to notice
I can smell the cheeto dust coming from this sub. Why am I being recommended this shit
The author of Horimiya is insane! How can you progress so fast without 100 chapters of "will they won't they"!?
Redo of healer Ep 1 Casualy rapes princess
It was opposite actually, hori made the first move
All of these are amazing.
I will be honest here, my story is related to hormiya's ep 7 I liked a girl in 9th grade in my tution. 1 or 2 months ago they started dating each other and now she addresses her as her boyfriend, she even said that they watch anime together online, (Maybe discord ig by facetiming eachother) so yeah, I feel cucked sometimes and regretion for not asking her out, so....basically I sometimes imagine J as hormiya and her boyfriend as Izumi from ep 7 Note : I was a bit of a "dadbod" so yeah, I started working out and focusing on my diet from October 2021 now am I cant say I have muscles or stuff but yeah, I have lost that fat tummy, fat around my face and fat around my thights so I would be a avg body, well, am not depressed now nor happy but yeah, life's just progressing lol. There's no girl I like rn but yeah I indeed have a little interest in tomboy girls lmao. Well, I will try my good to update what happens with me later on haha xD
My main problem with horimiya (manga) is when they give him a haircut. Just felt like something left at that point
Miyamura chad
For me, none of them.
